The transfer design is of sprays of roses. Buds and leaves with blue trim lines. This one is very pretty and elegant. In the octagon shape of many of the Masons pitchers although this one is unmarked. Condition: Good. Pitcher does have one small chip along the top edge. Doma Fama Alba china transferware pitcher white with blue florals So pretty!
Do you love blue and white? Here is a beautiful antique pitcher for you! It's a large pitcher.Probably from a wash stand set. THe pitcher stands about 11 1/4 inches high and is about 8 to nine inches at its widest point. It is sparkling clean inside and out and looks like it was rarely used. Stamp on bottom reads Doma Fama Alba China Graceful handle and shape with flowers all over(see pics) Light crazing all over gives it character. There is one chip near the lip or spout which I tried to photograph but as it is in the white area it is very hard to capture. Overall it is in great shape for its age and is bright and crisp-perfect for an arrangement of fresh flowers. Ornate pitcher has embossed scroll design with a transfer pattern of pink lilies and green and brown leaves and stems. There is a gold trim around the rim of the pitcher. With blue body color. circa 1840 -- Staffordshire Pottery -- blue transferware -- pitcher
This piece is just back from the Antiques Roadshow! Richmond. Virginia(August 17, 2013) was the final city on Season 18's"hunt for America's hidden treasures! The pitcher is approximately 8 9/16" tall. 10 7/16" wide(from pour spout to handle arc) and 7 ¼" deep(width of base bulge from front to back) It weighs approximately 36 ounces(or 2 pounds and 4 ounces) and is in very good condition. There is 1 flake/absence of color(¼" long) on the bulge of the pitcher when the handle is turned to the right. There are 4 chips on the handle visible when it is turned to the left: 2 are under glaze so are manufacturing flaws: 1/8" and 3/16" in sizes) and 2 are damage(3/8" and 3/16" in sizes) Please note there is crazing present. For those less familiar, crazing is a network of fine lines or ... morecracks that can develop on a fired glazed surface. It happens when a glaze is under tension. A craze pattern can develop immediately after removal from the kiln or years later from storage of an item in an extremely cold environment like an"ice box" early refrigerators) As a result of the crazing, there are some stains on the interior bottom and sides of the pitcher. What happens over time is the fat, like that found in milk, can work its way into the fine cracks. Eventually it will discolor/turn dark. For those interested. Discolorations can be removed by soaking a piece in a 40% hydrogen peroxide solution as found at beauty supply stores(used to help create those lovely blond highlights we love! I chose not to do this with this particular piece because the bottom is not visible when displayed in my hutch. Unfortunately. Gorgeous Victorian Pitcher! Love this shabby chic treasure! Wonderful ornate blue/green design with flowers. Scrolls, leaves, on a HUGE embossed vase/pitcher! In amazingly excellent condition considering this is an oldie! Although I am unfamiliar with the pattern and there are no markings on the pitcher. I believe this to be Victorian and from Staffordshire/Stoke-on-Trent. It would have originally had a water bowl underneath, and quite possibly an entire'dressing' table set. My favorite of these pieces is the pitcher, because it's versatile, practical and holds anything! This one is particularly large~spout to base is 11 inches and spout to(gorgeous applied) handle is 10" The inside is white and clean but it looks like someone stored water inside and much of the inside has(shiny) glaze loss that you can feel. Description You are bidding on this Heath(Burslem. England) blue transferware water pitcher in the Ontario Lake Scenery pattern. This pitcher would have been for pouring into a matching bowl and washing up. I do have the bowl but it has chips and is not included in this sale.The pitcher has one spider line on the bottom where the pattern name is and one line where the pedestal foot meets the body. The line does not go through and the pitcher still securely holds water. This fabulous pitcher dates to 1841 and is part of a series produced by J. Heath as part of their Ontario Lake Scenery series. For many people this Canadian scene of Lake Ontario remains a subject of controversy. Visual communications between Canada and Europe was poor to non-existent in the early 19th century. Immigrants and travelers did what they could to tell those back ... morehome what it was like. But what does an artist do when words fail? You invent from your own background. Which is what the illustration artists for the potters in Staffordshire did based on what they heard second or third hand from visitors who had seen the real scenes in the wilderness of Canada. Despite the look of a European castle the building in the pitcher is definitely Dundurn Castle in Hamilton. Canada West(Ontario) which at the time was the grandest private home in Canada, belonging to a local politician, Sir Allan MacNab. It had been built in 1835 out of stucco-covered brick, and would astonish people for decades to come, most of whom lived in log shacks chopped out of the wilderness. Corroborative clues are the sprawling mass of the facade. Rooftop balconies and protrusions everywhere, the Tuscan towers with beveled roofs and prominent finials, and the tall narrow windows and French doors throughout. The property in the background also exists. Set aside from the main block. Dundurn. Stands just above the waters of Lake Ontario. Stunning Antique Transferware Pitcher Oriental Scene Blue & Purple With Lid
Up for auction is a stunning antique oriental transferware pitcher that is approximately 8 inches tall. This piece is old and you can see from the photos their is crazing in the finish of the pitcher but its not uncommon especially for transfer ware. The lid is metal and beautifully crafter with the decorated thumb handle on the top. Just the craftsmanship in this is astounding as you can see how the lid is attached to the pitcher itself it is solid. And in perfect condition. The hinges work flawlessly and the decorated border around the top and bottom brings it all together. The oriental scene is beautiful and the blue and purple make it pop really attracting your eyes. The pitcher is very detailed with its scene with the two men and their wooden buskers beside them. The only damage is the common crazing in the finish and a little wear on ... morethe bottom. Besides that, this piece is absolutely gorgeous making it a real gem. It is unmarked and has nothing to show for its origins. When doing research their were no marks placed on transfer ware till the late 1800's and this piece has the age to predate that. Chubby pitcher or jug from the middle of the 19thC with deep blue flowers and leaves called Christmas Roses or Rose de Noel(as stamped on the bottom) on each side, with a single bloom under the lip and over it as well as a small pattern on the top of the handle. The flowers were applied as Transferware which is a glazed/colored paper pattern(first etched on a copper plate) and placed on the piece. And once the color is transferred, then the piece is fired thus permanently attaching the design and color. This rotund little pitcher measures 5 ¼ inches to the lip and is in perfect condition– no chips. No dings, no cracks– something unusual for its age. The blue transferware“Mikado” pattern features Chinese lanterns decorated with animals. Birds& fish intertwined with planters of flowers& foliage. It has an accent border of rectangles. The set is marked with the“MINTONS” globe logo without the crown or“England” which were added to the mark after 1891) It is marked RN4175 which identifies the English registry number of the“Mikado” pattern which was registered in 1884. Gorgeous blue transferware pitcher in the Moyen pattern. By Britannia Pottery of Scotland. Depicts birds, a dragonflies, flowers and mountain tops. Bottom is marked Moyen, Brittania Pottery Coy Ltd, Glasgow, Made in Gt Britain. It also has an impressed number 4. Pitcher measures about 7-1/2" tall x 6-1/2" handle to spout. With a 3-3/4" dia. opening and a 4-1/2" dia. base. It is in overall very good condition, bright vibrant blue coloring, no breaks or crazing, though we do note a very minor chip on the bottom rim of base(which cannot be seen when resting flat) last photo has a close up of area. If you are interested we have an identical pitcher that is the next size larger. But it has two hairline cracks so we are not listing it unless requested to do so.

Antique Wash Basin and Pitcher Made by Sorosis Beautiful white ceramic with turquoise blue floral patterns on this wash bowl and pitcher combination. Absolutely lovely detail. Reminiscent of what one might have found in an old French or English palace. According to consignor this is from the 1920's. It is starting to be rare to find both the bowl and matching pitcher intact. Bottom of both items is branded"Sorosis" Some wear from age. Sharp and absolutely pristine. This black or navy blue& white pitcher is exactly as it was the day it was made. probably well over 100 years ago. It measures 6 inches tall. Almost 5 inches across(from spout to handle) and has a base diameter of almost 3 1/2 inches. There are no cracks. No hairlines, no chips, no fleabites, no nibbles. There's not even any crazing. The surface is clean& shiny, both inside and out. There is no staining or toning or rubs to the surface. You won't be disappointed. 19th c. Antique Blue Transferware PITCHER - Unusual Size - Staffordshire
Beautiful late 1800's to early 1900's Staffordshire blue transferware pitcher in very good condition with no damage. It stands 6-3/8" tall(including the handle) No hallmarks. On the interior bottom. There's a couple of small imperfections from in the making. I think it's an unusual size. too large for a creamer and too small for milk. Handsome design decorated both on the exterior and also on the interior upper rim and on the handle. Great color, lovely design, good condition and what I think to be a rare size. Offering a magnificent Victorian transferware water pitcher in deep blue and white with a crisp floral day lily pattern in excellent used condition for its age. This fabulous pitcher measures 11" high and about 10.5" from handle to lip. It is quite impressive as a statement piece in your blue-white pottery collection. And works just as well for holding large flower arrangements- think sunflowers. Gladiolas or peonies! It has no cracks or chips, but does have a spot on the rim where it looks like the glaze has been rubbed off, there is crazing overall as well as minor flaws typical of pottery and china made in this era and some staining under the glaze inside the pitcher and on the lip. Transferware Flow Blue"Byzantium" Pitcher Antique. Made between the years 1850-1880. Very good condition considereing the age. Flow blue water pitcher or milk pitcher. Feels like an ironstone piece. Made by J R& Co. Pattern is"Byzantium" Wich has buildings and trees in the scene. Unusual that it has teepees in the foreground. The hallmark on the bottom has a beautiful blue stamp with the pattern name"Byzantium" Scene is the same on both sides. Measures approx. 8" from spout to handle x 7.5" tall at the spout lip and 8" tall at the handle x 7" deep. Base is 4.25" diameter. Condition: Has a small 1mm nick on the top rim and shows some rubbing on the rim edge. See photo. No chips. No cracks. Pouring lip is good. Fresh from an estate near Gettysburg. PA, I am pleased to offer this large Staffordshire transferware pitcher/jug and I believe it dates to the 1850s. The pitcher measures approximately 10.5" tall(to the top of the lip) and is in remarkably clean condition for its age. There are no chips, cracks or repairs and only a minor bit of discoloration to a small area of the interior bottom(see photo) It is a medium blue transfer depicting Greek ruins. The base is marked"Pantheon" and I believe it says Opaque China R&M. Please note I ship only within the continental USA. Syrup Pitcher with Pewter Lid Intact, Pre-1900, Circa 1899, Blue Transferware
These pitchers came around the turn of the last Century 1899-1900. Most were used quite often on breakfast tables to serve the syrup for pancakes and waffles. They were normally one of the first items to get broken too. So its hard to find one that is intact with its lid. This transfer ware syrup pitcher is in great condition and it is more than 100 years old. The pattern is lovely and the pewter lid is intact. I wouldn't use this pitcher as its not a good idea to use pewter, but it makes a nice collection piece of Americana history. Payment is through Pay Pal immediately.
