Up for auction is a beautiful vintage wash basin and pitcher set. Both are in great vintage condition and marked Ironstone U.S.A. There are some crazing and a couple of pit marks as shown in the pictures. The pitcher stand a large 11 inches tall and the basin stands 5 inches tall and 15.5 inches in diameter. You are viewing an England Ironstone Water Pitcher and Wash Basin. The pitcher is 11/2 inches tall at the tallest point and has a very decorative and elegant handle. The wash basin is approximately 15 1/2 inches in diameter. The wash basin does have some crackling in the glaze. Most of which is not visible except for a couple lines 3 inches or so in length. There is a line on the bottom that is noticeable. It runs about 4 inches long. You can't feel it at all and I've filled the water basin and pitcher full with water and there is no leaking or seepage at all. Just want to give complete disclosure. Fancy scroll handle and ribbed body, bottom mark is black Royal Ironstone China Alfred Meakin Ltd England. The Wash Basin measures 4" deep and 15" diameter at rim, it has a lovely embossed design and marked on bottom in green Royal Ironstone China W.H.Grindley& Co. England. ADMIRAL V.P. CO. Large basin-type pitcher. Over 12" tall at the handle. About 9" in diameter. Off-white Ironstone color with a dark maroon color. Transfer design of flowers and leaves. This is a vintage piece that has been displayed. There is all-over crazing. It has one small chip on the edge of the base. And there are some errant marks from touching other things. The largest marks, last pic, is on the down slope of the bowl so difficult to see when upright. See pictures, these are shown. Over all in very good condition. Massive ANTIQUE c 1890's White Ironstone China Water Pitcher and Bowl/Basin by J& G Meakin Hanley England. In the 19th century. The firm was well known for its white granite(undecorated ironstone) ware in imitation of contemporary French porcelain. Pitcher measure 12 inches tall at spout and bowl is 14.5 inches wide and 5 inches tall. Pitcher: under spout? stained or dirt and 2 tiny stains on side. See pictures. Basin/Bowl: few tiny spots?dirt. Se pictures I have not tried to clean it. Leave it up to the buyer. There are no cracks or chips and considering its age back to c 1890 is in excellent condition. No reserve!

The bottom of this is marked with the green crown hallmark. The wash bowl is white ironstone pottery with lovely roses on the interior. The color of the roses is a green with a bluish tint. The bottom carries the Homer Laughlin hallmark. There are no chips or crack to the bowl either just some crazing and a few age spots.
