This jug has a pink lustre decorated exterior, with a black transfer that has been colored. The transfer shows the crossed flags of England and France, with clasped hands below the flags. There is a banner above the flags that reads, "GOD SAVE THE QUEEN, MAY THEY EVER BE UNITED VIVE L'EMPEREUR." This transfer was done to commemorate the hoped union between France and England post Crimean War. The pitcher has a second black transfer on the other side made to commemorate the building of the Iron Bridge in Sunderland. This dates to the beginning of the 19th Century.

R aised relief throughout. Lustre on thumb-spurred handle. This jug is in great condition for it's age with a 1/4" chip to the inside of the spout rim. There is all over fine crazing commensurate with age and resultant mild discoloration to the interior. The maroon glaze has flaked off due to over eager cleaning. For your consideration. An Antique English Pearlware Polychrome Jug with a Citrus Fruit motif& lustre glazed highlights, c. 1830. This small jug has a raised dimensional design of lemons, oranges, blue flowers& green leaves with branches glazed in a brown lustre. There is also lustre added to the brown painting on the upper rim, lip& the handle. Nice“Blueing” to the white body. Bright clear Pratt colors applied to the flora. A twig shaped handle. Measuring 6″ high X 4 1/2″ from handle to spout. Excellent for the age. Minor roughing to the side of the handle& a teeny glaze nip to the footing as can be expected from use. Large Staffordshire Copper Lustre Jug ~'FANCY' PAINTED DECORATION ~ c1840 NR
A Large English Pottery Staffordshire Copper Lustre Baluster Jug c1840 ~'Fancy' Five Color Folk Art Type Painted Decoration ~ 7 1/2" high ~ 9 1/2" across from handle to spout I can't help thinking this jug should have been used in Sumpter T. Priddy's book'American Fancy: Exuberance in the Arts. 1790-1840 because it has all the characteristics of'exuberant' decoration. It has the same spirit of painting that much mochaware was decorated with and this shape and size pitcher was also used on much mocha. I'm not sure the pink used here for the dots around the center was a sort of dusty rose pink or brighter; if it was brighter, the pigment has faded, which is sad as it doesn't stand out as much as the other colors. In excellent display condition; there is wear to the lustre and decoration and some ... moreminor enamel flaking. There is also fine surface wear especially around the belly. See the pics for closeups of that, but there is no major damage or restoration; the inside bottom may have been repainted a long time ago as it is matte and not smooth but there is no damage to the base. Despite the points of surface wear this has fantastic presence and color. Thanks for looking! No Reserve! It has a saying on the back starting with"When tempest mingle sea and sky" It is in very good condition for its age. It has a surface hair line fracture on the inside and outside bottom. Pair Antique Sunderland Lustre Pitcher/Jug Raised Relief Horse/Cow Lustreware
Both of these Sunderland copper lustre pitchers have raised relief decorations of a horse on one side and a cow on the other. They display beautifully. There is no manufacturer's mark. Just two lines painted by the artist as was common in the 19th century. The condition is good with no chips, nicks or cracks but there is some wear, as shown in the photos. Up for bid and fresh from a Maine/Bermuda estate is a beautiful early 19th Century(circa 1820-40) Staffordshire blue glazed silver resist lustre pitcher/jug with nice floral and swirl decoration. It measures 5 3/4" tall. 6 1/2" wide by 5 1/2" This piece has no cracks, crazing, or large chips. There is a tiny glaze frit on the top rim(see photo) and there is evidence of some overpainting in two areas of glaze loss in the top rim area. 1820s Staffordshire Pearlware Creamware Silver Lustre Jug NR
Fresh from a Fairfax County. Virginia, estate I am pleased to offer this 1820s Georgian Staffordshire jug or pitcher. The piece is Staffordshire and a creamware, thinly potted jug with black transfer and silver lustre decoration. The transfer depicts an English country estate. The pitcher measures approximately 5.5" tall and 6.5" in diameter(spout to handle) The condition overall is quite good. The silver lustre is in good shape; the black transfer is faded and worn from years of use. There are no cracks. There is a small place on the table rim that I would not describe as a chip. But looks like it has been hit hard through the years(see pic) along with a tiny glaze flake. There is a flea bite on the end of the handle. Please note I ship only within the continental USA.
