The small jug or pitcher has an early creamware ... morebody and an early applied handle. This jug has a pink lustre decorated exterior, with a black transfer scene of the Iron Bridge in London, which was made in 1793 and opened in 1796. The title around the transfer reads, "A WEST VIEW of the CAST IRON BRIDGE over the RIVER WEAR built by R. BURDON ESQ. - Span 236 feet. Height 100 Feet. Begun 24, Sept. 1793. Open'd 9 Aug. 1796." The other side of the jug has a slogan or motto that reads, "Teach me to feel another's woe. To hide the fault I see. The mercy I to others show. That mercy, show to me." This was manufactured in the Staffordshire district of England between 1813 - 1830, probably to commemorate the building of the iron bridge.

Large Antique Sunderland Luster Pitcher from 1837 "Sailor's Farewell"
This Sunderland Luster Pitcher. From 1837, is in good condition, considering its age. Some cracks on the bottom(see picture) but otherwise in fine shape. Pitcher is polychrome decorated, with purple, green and yellow accents on a white background. Says"Sailor's Fairwell" and"WGM 1837" on one side, and the following poem on the other side: Here's to the wind that blows And the Ship that Goes And the Boy who fears no danger. So I've included some pictures under a blacklight so you can see exactly where the repairs are. Please excuse the reflections in the pictures. SIZE: The pitcher is approximately 8.75 inches tall. And approximately 8.25 inches wide. CONDITION: There are some old repairs: under the rim on one side; a small spot on the foot; and the bottom tip of the handle- the pen is pointing to these and you can also see them in the blacklight pictures. There is a hairline that is approximately 6 inches long on the lower part of the pitcher near the foot- the pen is pointing to this too. This lovely example of antique Sunderland pink lustreware is in excellent condition with no cracks. Chips, nicks or crazing. It is a pitcher or jug with a Mariner's compass on one side and this poem on the other: The hardy sailor braves the Ocean. Fearless of the roaring Wind. This luster vase has brightly colored floral decoration and an unusual use of the color orange. It is in good condition for a utilitarian piece of its age with no chips or nicks. Large antique Sunderland luster jug pitcher sailing ship, motto and iron bridge
The luster is bright on this beautiful large jug. There is a sailing ship on one side. A motto on the other, and a transfer of the iron bridge in the front. It has a couple of condition issues: The spout looks like it has broken off and been reattached, possibly filling in a little where small pieces were lost. There are also 4 cracks in the bottom that go through to the inside. There is a 3/4" crack in the glaze near the inside lip which does not go through to the outside. The handle looks fine. The pitcher measures 7-1/2" tall and 9" from spout to outside of handle.

A mariner's compass, and a sailor's coat of arms. Measures about 7-1/2" tall at its tallest 9-1/4" across at its widest from tip of handle to tip of spout. Spout has been broken off and glued back on at one time. Normal wear and patina for an item of this vintage. Pics give an accurate portrayal of condition. See Pics.
