Antique Blue and White Parian Pitcher Very Unusual Scallop Shell Motif Creamer
Lovely. Unusual stylized sea shell decoration on Parian Pitcher. The scallop was often carved into American Chippendale furniture from the 18th Century. Perfect size for milk or cream. Among my grandmother’s treasures was a collection of Relief Molded and Parian Pitchers. This pitcher is the perfect size for milk or cream. Indeed my grandmother often used it after dinner for coffee. The overlapping scallop shell motif is very unusual in a pitcher. Even more so for a Parian pitcher. The shells are further highlighted by the use of blue slip between the rows. It fits right in with my grandmother's love of New England. This type of stylized scallop shell was often carved into the famous antique Chippendale furniture. Made in New England. Typical for Parian pitchers. This one is very delicate and thin walled. It is probably English. Although ... morethe interior is glazed—therefore usable—which was a distinguishing feature of American Bennington Parian ware. It probably dates from the 1850s. Size: about 5 ¾ inches tall and about 4 inches wide at the widest and 5 inches from handle to spout. Condition is great except for a what appears to me as a couple of manufacturing flaws: a few tiny dark spots. Some surface hairlines near the spout that have darkened with age and what looks like a chip on the bottom ridge, except its edges are smooth. To me. That suggests that it happened before it was fired. The hairlines do not extend to the inside of the pitcher. Although one can be seen from the inside because it is darkened and because the wall is delicate and thin. They have obviously been there for quite a while and I would assume they happened during or shortly after the pitcher's firing. While it was cooling. A very unusual blue and white Parian pitcher that is also very useful. See my other auctions for more antique pitchers and New England serving pieces with scallop shells. Terms and Conditions: I only accept PayPal and ship to the PayPal account address. Payment is required within 7 days of the auction’s end. Pl

MMA JONQUIL Daffodil Parian Ware Pitcher Vase Metropolitan Museum Art Nouveau
MMA JONQUIL Daffodil Parian Ware Pitcher Vase Metropolitan Museum Art Nouveau. Click picture to enlarge click picture to enlarge Description This Parian Ware porcelain pitcher is a MMA late 20th century reproduction. Parian ware is an unglazed high-quality porcelain developed by Copeland& Garrett in England in the early 1840s. Its look was developed to resemble white marble. Parian ware was also made during the 19th century in Bennington Vermont by United States Pottery Company. The high relief design of jonquils and arching leaves is inspired by an original parian pitcher in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Stands about 8 3/4" tall. No box. CONDITION: Preowned item. 20 years old at most. It looks great but please expect that there are some minor signs of use if you are looking really closely, like ... moresmall stain marks or a faint smudge- all very typically of unglazed wares. It is a little dirty deep in the interior from use(probably from use as a vase) Shelf wear/stain on underside of base as shown in photo. I see one little mark on the top of the handle as shown in photo. With a 25x loupe, it looks like a small circle- so perfectly round that my best guess is that is as made, perhaps a kiln mark. Next to the circle, I can see two tiny marks- maybe little scratches or as made. England DATE: This mark was used from circa 1859- 1888 PATTERN: Unnamed- wonderful Tree and Vine LARGE HEFTY SIZE: Stands 10.25" Inches Tall Tho this falls arguably under the broad'PARIAN WARE' nomenclature, this pitcher is technically SMEAR WARE. Which describes the technique that was used to apply the Glaze. It is slightly different from Parian Ware. In that in this technique, the glaze was applied or"smeared" onto the inside of the mold instead of onto the piece directly. This smear technique produced pieces with a lighter glaze. More definition to the relief work, and a softly textured yet glowing finish. The Dudson ... moremanufacturing company excelled in this form. FEATURES: WONDERFUL THEME- luscious vines leaves and fruit dance around the background of a sturdy and highly textured tree trunk! FANTASTIC RELIEF DEFINITION give such play to the light! ANTIQUE PARIAN WARE/STONEWARE PITCHER 11" TALL WITH HIGH RELIEF DECORATION
Magnificent antique parian ware pitcher cast in high relief with grapes and grape leaves and allegorical figures around the middle in drunken splendor. A bit naughty however. As one of the male figures is pinching the buttocks of his companion and the scene around the entire piece appears to represent debauchery and drunken fun. The grapes and leaves around the top portion are finely represented and detailed. The handle is moulded to represent grape twigs. As far as damage goes there is a chip off the inside of the lip of the jug approximately one inch and is not very noticiable. There is a hairline crack to the inside of the pitcher not seen from the outside. Also one of the faces of the figures is totally missing and I think that was done in the manufacturing process. There is a little brown staining on the top grapes in a couple of places, ... morebut again, very slight. Unmarked on the bottom except for the numbers 6 over 49. I am not familiar with this type of ware so maybe an expert out there can fill in the manufacturer and date. I do know that this piece is old as it was purchased many years ago. Stands 11" tall and 5 1/2" wide. Shipping will be through USPS and determined upon auction close. Please wait for the invoice. Approximate weight is 6 pounds without packing! The manufacturer is Charles Meigh and date is 1844. It is called Bacchanalian Dance. A similar jug can be viewed if you google the V&A Museum and search for Charles Meigh. Thank you to a great Ebay Member for the information.

English Bisque Parian Pitcher with English Registry Mark 1857- Heavily repaired
Up for you consideration is this beautiful English Parian Bisque Pitcher with the English Registry Mark. The mark indicates that it is ceramic- IV. Manufactured in 1857-K, on June- M, 19th. Parcel no 2. Measurements: 10 inches tall. Condition: This piece has been damaged and repaired. The repairs have been done on the spout and on the bottom. Both are highly visible in the photographs. The discoloration on the top and around the bottom are a result of what looks to be some sort of plaster that was used to repair the piece. It does chip off easily. But I was afraid to do to much and cause more damage to the piece. Despite the damage, it is a lovely piece of the history of English Ceramics from this era. I am happy to answer any and all questions regarding this item. If you would like additional photos please let me know. Thank you and Good ... moreLuck!

I have up for auction a real nice. Never used, pitcher from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was made in 1993 as a reproduction from the mid 1800's of the British porcelain table- ware called Parian. It is a porcelain that has an unglazed surface. This pitcher has an unglazed exterior but it is glazed on the inside. I will include the information sheet supplied from the Metropolitan Museum of Art about this pitcher and as well as the history of parian ware in the US. Please note the markings of TBM and MMA. This is The Brooklyn Museum for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Please look at all the pictures as they are the main part of the description. I will start the bidding real low and maybe you will get lucky and me not so lucky.

1800s Antique Pitcher Parian Porcelain lavender w/ornate white cameo relief
This stunningly beautiful. Antique Parian ware(bisque porcelain) pitcher has a lavender base color, with ornate, raised, white cameo-like designs on its outside surface. The design motifs are classical, and the style resembles Wedgwood's“jasperware” or early Copeland pieces, though the pitcher up for auction, here, has a gloss glaze, as opposed to a matte finish. The pitcher is unmarked, and though I have done some research, I have not been able to determine its maker. The pitcher's condition is remarkable. With no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. The only flaws, which are minor, occurred at the factory when the then liquified Parian porcelain was cast in the mold, and when the white, raised designs were applied, as one can see some tiny hairline breaks that have been glazed over. The pitcher measures about 8 ¼ inches tall ... morefrom its base to its highest point, which is on the handle, about 5 ½ inches across the opening from the handle to the end of the spout, and it has just under a 4 inch diameter across the footed base. This pitcher is exquisite, in color, design and condition. Please pay within 3 days after the auction has ended. And I will get your item to you as soon as possible. I do not accept returns, so to spare us any complications, please contact me if you have any questions, as I may have missed something that is important to you. Please v iew my photos and read my description as they are my honest attempt to give you all of the particulars about this“1800s Antique Pitcher. If you are happy with our transaction. Please rate the details and leave positive feedback; I will leave feedback for you after I receive yours. As this lets me know that you have received your item and that you are satisfied. If your purchase does not meet your expectations, please email me before you post feedback, as I do appreciate your business, and your complete satisfaction is my goal.

Antique 1868 Cork, Edge & Malkin Parian Ware Salt Glazed Jug Pitcher /Pewter Lid
This is an outstanding pitcher made by Cork. Edge& Malkin in the 19th Century. This style Pitcher is known as Parian ware. Parian ware is a bisque porcelain material which on the exterior is covered in a salt glaze finish for protection. The interiors of these jugs are normally covered in a very glossy finish. This particular jug is very well marked. It has, not only a makers mark, but a title and Patent date of manufacture as well. The base carries the makers mark of a famous English Staffordshire company from Burslem known at that time as Cork, Edge& Malkin. This piece is also dated November 25th 1868. This one even has a pattern or biblical title known as"Ruth" This pitcher has a pewter lid. It could have been used as a milk pitcher, Syrup, beer, or even water. This is both an excellent and rare piece because it does ... moregive us so very much information. I have taken several pictures for for your better understanding. I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. I have started it at a very low price. That is not an indication of what I think it is worth. I want to sell it. I see another slightly larger, however, identical pitcher starting at $600.00 and that is without a pewter lid. Like I said, I want to sell mine. As to the condition; There are no chips. Cracks, crazing or damage of any kind to this pitcher. This pitcher does need more cleaning. I spent a little time cleaning it and made great progress, however, I will leave that to the new owner. I am sure that you can get this to look near new with the right products. It looks to me as if the pewter lid was reworked at the hinge. Whoever did this, did an outstanding job. This is clearly shown in the pictures. This jug measures 7" high. It is approximately 5 1/2" long with the handle and about 4 1/5" wide without. It holds 40 ounces when filled. We pack everything very carefully. We ship immediately after payment is confirmed. I'll be happy to combine shipping whenever possible to save you money. GOOD LUCK! MAY TH

White Parian Porcelain Jonquil Pitcher American Mid 19th Century (reproduction)
Offered today is the pretty parian porcelain pitcher with an applique decoration of lazy jonquils or daffodils and arching leaves in high relief. Parian ware. An unglazed porcelain resembling Parian marble was widely used for statuettes, pitchers, vases, trinket boxes, and tableware. The process for producing parian ware was developed by the Copeland factory in England in the 1840s, and later it was introduced to the Bennington factory in Vermont. This pitcher is a reproduction of an original mid 19th century pitcher donated to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York by Dr. Charles W. Green in 1947. This is such a pretty. Graceful Parian pitcher. I am not a good photographer, and my pictures do not do it justice. It looks even better in person, and it has a substantial weight to it for its size. It could be used to hold flowers, paint ... morebrushes, kitchen utensils, or whatever you may have need of it. Of course, it will also work fine as either a pitcher or a very elegant watering can even. Display in in virtually any room of the house. This pitcher is in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks. It stands approximately 8.75 inches tall and 6.5 inches across. The inside is very clean as I have never put any liquids in it. It was displayed for a while on a farmhouse cupboard with silk flowers. So charming and versatile. It would blend in beautifully with either a Victorian. Cottage, Shabby, or farmhouse decor scheme.

Large Antique Parian Ware Pitcher of a Bower of Tree Roses - 10" Tall
Large. Octagonal parian ware pitcher from the mid-Victorian era, featuring a bower of roses branching off from the pitcher's handle. Really lovely lines to the pieces and superb relief work throughout. Even the spout features a tree trunk and you can see the veins in the leaves that decorate the body. No maker's mark for this lovely piece. I hope my pictures do justice to its beauty. The pitcher measures 10" tall from the base to the top of the handle. It is about 6 1/2" in diameter at its widest point. It weighs over 3 pounds so it's a substantial piece. No chips and no cracks except for what appears to be a faint star crack at the center of the base from firing. It doesn't extend into the interior and looks to have been glazed over. I did my best to capture the style and quality in pictures. And to describe the ... morepiece as completely as possible, but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Antique Samuel Alcock Lavender Relief Parian Jug Pitcher James Dixon Pewter Lid
I knew nothing about this jug when I saw it at a local estate. But thought it was just beautiful. I have since learned that it is Samuel Alcock Parian Ware(similar to Jasper Ware) dating sometime in the mid 19th century. It has a gorgeous lilac or lavender ground with white relief detailing what appear to be Greek or Roman gods, and a face incorporated within the upper section of the handle. The surface of the pitcher is clean and free of stains or spots or other things I have seen on similar pitchers listed on Ebay. The handle is repaired at each spot it meets the pitcher, but done quite nicely so that it does display well. It is about 7.5" tall. The base bears a black under glaze hallmark as shown, as well as"118" printed under the glaze, and"24 M" impressed on the rim of the base. There is a small chip on the base. ... moreThe lid is metal- either silverplate or pewter, I really don't know, and is marked James Dixon& Sons and with"57" impressed in the metal. The inside is white and appears to be clean with no stains, cracks etc. I tried to take good photos for you, but please let me know if there is anything else you need. Thanks for looking.
