This small pitcher or jug has an early pottery body, probably creamware, ... morewith an early applied handle. This jug has a pink lustre decorated exterior, with a black transfer that has been colored. The transfer shows the crossed flags of England and France, with clasped hands below the flags. There is a banner above the flags that reads, "GOD SAVE THE QUEEN, MAY THEY EVER BE UNITED VIVE L'EMPEREUR." This transfer was done to commemorate the hoped union between France and England post Crimean War. The pitcher has a second black transfer on the other side made to commemorate the building of the Iron Bridge in Sunderland. This dates to the beginning of the 19th Century.

Found in an old east central Illinois estate. This 4 1/8” pitcher has a rim diameter of 2 ¼” a base diameter of 2 7/8” This has base/rim wear& wear to the high spots of the design, but no chips, cracks, or hairlines. The inner rim of the base reads, MADE BY ENGLAND” there are 2 illegible names/markings as well. The body of the pitcher is purple with its raised designs being pink luster. The handle& upper rim are a darker maroon luster. The raised design includes cherubs, 2 different ladies, 1 man, a child, a lamb, a tree, flowers. This particular one has no manufacturer markings that I can see anywhere. It stands about 7-3/8" at its tallest and looks to be about a one quart capacity. The midsection of the pitcher has been hand-decorated with six scenes of blue. Pink and green bunches of grapes. It really is quite bright and colorful. The copper luster finish is generally in very good to excellent condition, only showing some light touches of wear at the normal handling spots and in the high-points all around. The only damage is one 1/4" finish flake chip off the left side of the spout, shown in one of the photos- due to the redware clay body, barely noticeable as it sets. Any other questions, just ask. Copper Luster Staffordshire Pitcher Victorian Ribbed Pink Design
Up for bid is an antique Copper Luster Staffordshire Pitcher from the Victorian age. The pitcher has a ribbed bottom half and has a pink band with stylized vine design on the top half. The pitcher measures 4-1/2" tall and 6-1/8" handle to spout. Nearly all copper luster produced was from the Staffordshire district throughout the 1800's. This piece is unmarked and more than likely was produced from 1840's to the 1880's. It is in very good condition for its age. There is a manufacturing flaw inside the spout. I could not find any other flaws. But there could be other very tiny flaws in this because it was made with a reddish-brown clay and is nearly the same color as the copper.
