Doma Fama Alba china transferware pitcher white with blue florals So pretty!
Do you love blue and white? Here is a beautiful antique pitcher for you! It's a large pitcher.Probably from a wash stand set. THe pitcher stands about 11 1/4 inches high and is about 8 to nine inches at its widest point. It is sparkling clean inside and out and looks like it was rarely used. Stamp on bottom reads Doma Fama Alba China Graceful handle and shape with flowers all over(see pics) Light crazing all over gives it character. There is one chip near the lip or spout which I tried to photograph but as it is in the white area it is very hard to capture. Overall it is in great shape for its age and is bright and crisp-perfect for an arrangement of fresh flowers. Pitcher by Mellor Zoma Aurea Alba China Pitcher Fine Vintage
This auction is for a Vintage Pitcher. The background is white with a floral design of purple and white pansy type flowers. There is aso a fine gold trim throughout. The pitcher measures 11.5 tall. About 10" lip to handle, and about 7.5 across the fattest part of the pitcher. On the bottom is a seal or mark: Boma Fama Est Mellor Zona Aurea Alba china. These words surround a globe with a sword inserted into it. The pitcher is in near perfect condition with only one 1/8" spot where one on the pansy leaves has been worn. The picture shows a washbowl also. Actually I am only listing the pitcher because the washbowl is no longer available. Vintage Alba China ~ Edwin Bennett Pottery Pitcher Bottom of pitcher is stamped"Alba China" and has a picture of the earth with a sword through it. The words around the globe are"Bona Fama Est Melior Zona Aurea. This mark was used by the Edwin Bennett Pottery Company after 1890. It was used on the company's semi-porcelain ware. The Company was in business in Baltimore. Maryland from 1846 to 1936 Does have some crazing but no chips or cracks. Measures 7 1/4" tall x 6 1/2" wide#1270 marked in gold This is a beautiful floral. This classic set features a gorgeous red and white iris design with gold gilt accents. the gilt is worn off in places.But over all looks nice. Beautiful antique semi porcelain Alba China water pitcher created by the Edwin Bennett Pottery company which was in business from 1890- 1936 in Baltimore Md. The pitcher has the traditional stamp of the globe pierced with a sword and the"Bona Farma est Melior Zona Aurea" which translates to"a good reputation is better than a gold belt" The piece has no chips or cracks however their is crazing on the inside lip typical for it's age. The color is cream/white with green transfer design and beautiful scrollwork throughout.

Estate item. Came from my Mother’s small assorted pitcher collection Lovely little Alba China Bona Fama Est Melior Zona Aurea transfer ware pitcher. Bona Fama Est Melior Zona Aurea" roughly translates to" A good reputation is better than a golden belt" The pitcher is pale green/white with branching stems of violet flowers. It also has a graduated dark to green“Fade” working in from the top and bottom with gold painted accents around the top and on raised portions of the handle. Measurements approximately 8 inches at the top of the handle. 6 ½ inches outside handle to tip of spout, and 5 inches wide. The pitcher holds 6 cups. The pitcher has the trademark globe with sword going through it which was used by the Edwin Bennett Pottery Company after 1890. The company was located in Baltimore. Maryland from 1846 to 1936 to review ... morethe condition: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Condition: There is some overall crazing on the handle and inside: but no chips or cracks. The pitcher is solid with no leaks. There is a bit of discoloration in the crazing inside perhaps from tea. To highlight some of the deeper craze lines I filed the pitcher with cold water and let it sit for a while. The interior shots were taken immediately after I poured the cold water out. When the pitcher dries the crazing becomes harder to see. There is also some rub thru of some of the gold lining especially on one side of the handle and one side of the top lip. The company who made this pitcher was located in Baltimore. MD. They opened in 1846 and closed in 1936. The designs are painted by hand. Their trademark is shown on the bottom of the pitcher. The pitcher is in excellent condition; however, it does not have a bowl with it. It is 11.5" tall and 10" wide(including handle) My family is the original owner. It was bought around 1908.
