This large vintage is good condition considering the age. The pitcher probably dates to 1940 or older. It is totally intact. There is no discoloring. No nicks or chips. The pitcher is Franconia La Porcelain and measures 11 inches tall to tip of pour spout. The pitcher opening is 8 x 6 inches. Wash basin shows more wear. There is discoloring near the rim and in the bottom of the basin. It also has a hairline crack. And a nick under the rim. The bowl is solid. The bottom is marked Greek. This piece was made in 1972 by Martha Tosti. Signed on the very bottom of the bowl. This set is in prestine condition. No chips, cracks or damage of any kind. Has been displayed on an old wash stand for many years. This is much nicer in person! The pitcher holds 12 cups of water and is 10-3/4 inches tall, 9 inches side to side and 8-1/2 inches wide. For auction from a local midwestern estate is an antique wash stand bowl and pitcher set original to the era in which these items were used. The pitcher is 11 1/4 inches tall and 9 inches wide and weighs 3 lbs. 7 1/4 ounces. The pitcher is not signed or marked. Is molded and during the firing process in the kiln acquired a few small silt bumps. The dark pinkish is still vibrant but has a spot on the rim of the pitcher where the paint has worn away as noted in the pictures. Note the remarks above re the one inch by one inch surface scratch. The pitcher is simple in design, but elegant and beautiful. The bowl to this set is marked on the bottom and signed Parisian Stone China, Smith Ford& Jones, Burslem England, has nice age crazing, and ivory white with deep pinkish to maroon color appliqués of an English garden. The rim of the bottom ... moreof the bowl has nice age wear. There is a nice raised or 3-D dental molding along the top edge of the bowl on the outside coupled with leaf raised molding around the bottom of the bowl above the rim. There is a 4 cm indent in the china along the rim which is either a kiln occurrence or actual chip. If I had to guess, I would say it happened during firing of the glaze, BUT I AM NO EXPERT in pottery and can only describe to you what I see. The bowl measures 15 inches in circumfrence from rim to rim, and 5 1/2 inches from top of the bowl to bottom of the rim making the bowl depth 5 inches. Weight of the bowl is 5 lbs. 5 1/2 ounces. This is a nice set of a wash basin and water pitcher from a nostalgic time most likely, because the wear on the set is minor, used for the guest room for visitors. This one is a dandy for collectors. Vintage White Ironstone Pitcher for Wash Stand, etc - Classic Shape
This beautiful old classically shaped white ironstone pitcher was possibly part of a wash stand set. But displays beautiful as a stand alone pitcher for any purpose. It's not marked for maker or age, but appears to be fairly old. In perfect condition except for some ground-in dirt on the unglazed bottom rim and a bit of inside discoloration, which could likely be removed by a good cleaning. 8.5 inches tall; 8 inches across from spout to handle; 3.5 inch diameter at base. A wonderful Christmas present; imagine how wonderful this would look holding a bouquet of Christmas flowers on a sunny windowsill. Pitcher is approx 11" tall, basin/bowl is approx 15" across x 5" deep, and the chamber pot is approx 8" tall. The Warwick factory opened in 1887 and closed in 1936, because of a flood most of their records were lost. Up for auction is a lovely wash stand set. The set has a tray. Drinking glass, candle holders, pitcher, and bowl. There is a hair line fracture on one side of the bowl, it doesn't go across the bowl and the bowl still holds water, but there is a line, all other pieces are in mint condition. This is a nice large bowl and pitcher, the bowl is 15" in diameter and the pitcher is 10+" tall. The set has no marks on the set, so I don't know who made it. Wood Wash Basin Stand Description This is for a vintage light to medium color wood wash basin stand with mirror. Arner's ceramic wash basin, and ceramic pitcher. The stand has towel holders on both sides(original) as well as candle holders. The stand has some nicks and scratches on the bottom where the pitcher stands, the basin hole, the right candlestick holder arm, and the back of the mirror. The back of the mirror looks like there is a strip missing but that is not the case. The ceramic basin has one fine crack on the inner side(shown in picture) It is not deep as I could barely feel it running my finger across. The pitcher is in great condition. If you are looking at it with the handle to the right. There are two small chips. One on the petal of the second to the top flower and one just to the right of the leaves. It has the design ... moreon three sides, the left, right, and front. Simply beautiful for its age. The mirror is not completely clear like a new mirror. There is a mark on it. Antique Wash Basin and Pitcher Made by Sorosis Beautiful white ceramic with turquoise blue floral patterns on this wash bowl and pitcher combination. Absolutely lovely detail. Reminiscent of what one might have found in an old French or English palace. According to consignor this is from the 1920's. It is starting to be rare to find both the bowl and matching pitcher intact. Bottom of both items is branded"Sorosis" Some wear from age. Staining, and a chip in the under side of the bowl edge, some superficial cracks, but otherwise in beautiful condition. Bowl measures 16.5" across by 4" deep.
