Lovely! Embossed White Creamer or Pitcher Royal Ironstone Charles Meakin 1870-82
From a cousin’s estate we have a WONDERFUL vintage embossed pitcher or creamer. It is white Ironstone made by Charles Meakin in England. This is a smaller cream pitcher with embossed flowers and possibly a ribbon on the backside by the handle. The top of the handle is ornate as well. The seam can be seen on the side- that is not a crack. There are speckles here and there under the glaze- kind of flaked blue or black. There are a couple small spots where the glaze is flaked off near the spout. No cracks and no chips. It is in extremely lovely condition for its age! See photos. Approximate measurements: 5-1/2" tall to handle and spout. 4-5/8" tall at middle, 5" from handle to spout, 2-7/8" across. The bottom is slightly oval measuring 2-3/4" x 2-1/5" across. Rare Antique Vintage Lewis H Meakin Ironstone China Pitcher
In about 1853. At age 28, Lewis Henry Meakin left a successful plumbing business to embark upon a china manufacturing business venture with John Farrall. The pottery and china industry was very competitive and their business on Cannon Street, Shelton, Stoke-upon-Trent, England, was short lived. They declared bankruptcy and closed their doors on August 3, 1855. It is not known how many pieces of china Lewis H. Meakin and John Farrall produced. But surviving pieces are extremely rare. Soon after the china business failure Lewis Henry Meakin moved his family to America, and lived out his remaining years in Ohio. His son, also Lewis Henry Meakin, born in 1850, was a fairly well-known US landscape painter. John Farrall went on to work at another china manufacturer in Stoke-upon-Trent, England. Lewis H Meakin Ironstone China is extremely rare. ... moreAnd to find a piece in good condition is rare indeed. This pitcher is one of the very few remaining pieces produced by Lewis H Meakin at the Ironstone China Company between 1853 and 1855, in Stoke-upon-Trent, England. The pitcher is approximately 9 inches tall. And 8 inches from the end of the spout to the end of the handle. The pitcher is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. The glaze is crazed on both the inside and the outside of the pitcher, which would be normal for a ceramic pitcher approaching 160 years old. A close up of the crazing is shown in the photo of the bottom of the pitcher. The pitcher is slightly stained on both the inside and the outside. The inside is more heavily stained, but not quite as dark as it appears in the photo of the inside. The best illustration of the true color of the pitcher is represented in the first picture. From the lack of wear on the base and the staining it would be easy to assume that this pitcher has spent most of its life on a shelf with dust laying on the inside for a long period of time.

Moderna Flow Blue Pitcher and Bowl Set by J&G Meakin, England
Up for your consideration is a beautiful FLOW BLUE pitcher and bowl set made by J& G Meakin. Hanley, England. This set is in the Moderna Pattern which was produced by them from 1903-1911, making this piece over 100 years old. The pitcher measures 11 inches tall by 11 1/2 inches across. The bowl measures 17 1/2 inches across by 5 1/4 inches deep. Condition is excellent for a piece of this age. There are no repairs, chips or cracks. The piece is very clean and was very gently used. There are several small glaze pops that can be seen in the photo's and a small rough spot on the bowl rim which can be seen in photo 3. There is a barely visible surface scratch on the pitcher, but I couldn't get a photo of it. It does not go through and can barely be noticed. This is a vintage tall pitcher and basin from J.G. Meakin. Hanley England. The pitcher has a handpainted red- maroon stripe trimmed in black. The pitcher also has an embossed beaded edge on the handle and an embossed ribbon and floral branch under the handle. The huge heavy bowl has a handpainted red- maroon stripe and black trim on the rim. Both pieces have transparent and brown crazing. The pitcher has a few brown discoloration spots and a chip on the bottom rim. The basin bowl has two chips on the rim-one is huge. Antique "Meakin" English Ironstone Pitcher - 5 Qt.
This is one of the more graceful shapes I have seen. Together with the lovely reliefwork fern and floral medallion. There is no wear, as shown in the pictures and the only mark I see is a fine line in the ironstone body from manufacture which is under the glaze. The capacity is 5 qt. and this is a very impressive piece to add to your collection or feature by itself with seasonal floral displays. It measures 12-1/2" to the top of the spout; 8" from the spout to the handle and the base is 4-1/2" in diameter. It is well marked on the bottom. As shown in the picture. Beautiful Pitcher about 50-100 years old-is in very good condition with one very small chip on the bottom edge but no crazing. Bottom label states J& G Meakin. Manley, England with their logo. There are some hairline cracks in the bottom that can only be seen inside the pitcher or looking at the bottom. Not affecting the usefulness or the beauty of this piece. The pitcher is over 8" tall and over 5" at the bottom.

J&G Meakin"Block Optic" Ironstone pottery was produced by the Meakin Brothers both in plain white as well as with copper luster decoration. Offered is a huge white ironstone pitcher that epitomizes the tendency of that period toward squared. Angular shapes. Measuring a very generous 12" high(at tip of thumbrest) and with the distance between the spout and the handle being 9 1/2" the pitcher has a squared. Eight-panelled body with a pronounced waist that tapers gently as it moves up toward the slightly scalloped rim. Below the scalloping a narrow band in relief accentuates the neck's perimeter. Appropriately marked on the underside of the base with the pottery's signature in underglaze black print this pitcher was made by J. G. Meakin in their works at Hanley. Staffordshire some time between 1890 and 1914 Exact ... moredating is difficult as the Meakins did not register their shapes. Condition on the pitcher is excellent. For its large size. This pitcher has a very delicate and classy look. The glaze is in excellent shape, very shiny and translucent with a slight blueish tinge to it and no crazing. The white of the ironstone body is crisp and bright, unmarred by stains or other discolorations. As you can see in the pictures. This is a truly eye-catching piece of ironstone.

ANTIQUE J & G MEAKIN IRONSTONE CHINA PITCHER, HAS FAINT CRACK & BOTTOM CHIPS
This auction is for an antique J& G Meakin China Ironstone pitcher. The pitcher is about 10 inches high and about 8 inches wide at its widest point near the bottom. My mom had this for years and then gave it to me. This could have belonged to my grandmother or even my great-grandparents. The pitcher displays very well but does have a few issues. There are a couple chips on the bottom. And there is a crack on the bottom. The crack is'star' shaped and begins under the J&G Meakin stamp on the bottom and should be visible in the picture. The crack extends a short way up the side but is nearly invisible and was discovered only by touching it. Also some scuffing around the lower sides where the pitcher is widest. And some soiling. Massive ANTIQUE c 1890's White Ironstone China Water Pitcher and Bowl/Basin by J& G Meakin Hanley England. In the 19th century. The firm was well known for its white granite(undecorated ironstone) ware in imitation of contemporary French porcelain. Pitcher measure 12 inches tall at spout and bowl is 14.5 inches wide and 5 inches tall. Pitcher: under spout? stained or dirt and 2 tiny stains on side. See pictures. Basin/Bowl: few tiny spots?dirt. Antique PITCHER& BOWL. Basin Set Marked Jesmond England with 1875 Alfred Meakin Mark Offered is a very old wash basin and pitcher marked Alfred Meakin and Jesmond. England. From what I have been able to find out, the Globe maker’s mark was used by Alfred Meakin Ltd. between 1875 and 1897. Alfred Meakin Ltd was set up in 1875 and operated from the Royal Albert. Victoria and Highgate Potteries in Tunstall. Alfred Meakin was the brother of James and George Meakin who ran a large pottery company in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. Considering its age. The set is in remarkable condition. The bowl has a few inches of roughness along the rim. There are tiny chips that have to be felt. The pitcher is in very good condition. There is a small crack where the handle is attached to the body of the pitcher. I believe it has probably been there since the day ... morethe handle and pitcher were attached. Take a look at the picture and I think you’ll understand how I came to that conclusion. There is also a tiny glob of something on the lip of the pitcher; maybe paint. It was possibly too close when the room was painted. Finally. There is a tiny flea bite or two along the rim Both pieces have light crazing. They are 120 or so years old. They deserve to develop a few flaws like the rest of us oldsters. The bowl measures almost 14 inches across and stands 4 ½ inches. The pitcher is 11 ½ inches at its tallest point. The set has survived over 100 years. I would hate to have it damaged in the mail. So I plan to pack it in a very large box and possibly double box the pieces. Antique Royal Ironstone China pitcher made my Alfred Meakin. England between 1883 and 1913. It has a transfer on both sides of a transfer of a rose on a stem with leaves and ferns and another plant with smaller leaves behind. The pitcher measures 6 1/4" tall x 5 1/2" from the end of the spout to the tip of the handle and is 4" wide at the widest part. It has a hairline crack in the bottom, but it does hold liquid. And, it has a chip on the edge on the bottom. The rest of the pitcher has no defects. Some of the hand painted gold on the edge of the spout has some wear. There are no cracks, chips breaks on the rest of the pitcher. There is no crazing.

Vintage White Ironstone Pitcher Jug and Bowl Alfred Meakin Ewer Tunstall England Fresh from an estate here in Maine is Super Rare Aflred J G Meakin White Stoneware Bowl and Pitcher. This came from an early Victorian house here in Maine with there was high end antiques and this being no exception. Expecially this one you can find the pitcher but never the bowl that matches it. The pitcher has a very tight hairline near the handle nothing to really worry about. The pitcher measures 12 inches tall 7 inches in diameter and is all marked with Black Ironstone mark. The bowl has tiny chip on it's rim and brown water mark in the bowl where pitcher set for years. It measures 5 inches tall and 11 1/2 inches in diameter and also marked with meakin mark.
