Vintage Alba China ~ Edwin Bennett Pottery Pitcher Bottom of pitcher is stamped"Alba China" and has a picture of the earth with a sword through it. The words around the globe are"Bona Fama Est Melior Zona Aurea. This mark was used by the Edwin Bennett Pottery Company after 1890. It was used on the company's semi-porcelain ware. The Company was in business in Baltimore. Maryland from 1846 to 1936 Does have some crazing but no chips or cracks. Measures 7 1/4" tall x 6 1/2" wide#1270 marked in gold This is a beautiful floral. Up for auction is an antique Bennett's Syrup pitcher. Patent date on the bottom is Jan 23. 1878. There is crazing. The spout has broken off and the point on top of the lid is bent. Lovely antique white ironstone pitcher and bowl. Mark on the bottom identifies it as by Edwin Bennett Pottery Co. of Baltimore MD. Both pieces are marked. Although the mark on the pitcher is very light at this point in time. Both bowl and pitcher have staining and mild crazing(please see photos) There is a hairline crack near the top of the bowl(I have provided two views of the crack- one from the interior of the bowl and one from the exterior) There are also three small marks/ dots on the interior of the bowl. I believe that these are from the way in which the bowl was set to dry following the glazing process. There are also a few scratches in the bottom of the bowl simply from use. Again, please review the included photos. The pitcher is in good condition(no cracks or chips) although there are small dark dots on the exterior of the pitcher ... morea couple of inches below the lip(please see the photo featuring the pitcher from the front) A beautiful set to add to the home!
