1850s Antique Staffordshire England Copper Luster Individual 3" Creamer Pitcher
Here is a lovely little antique creamer glazed in copper luster and made in the Staffordshire area of England from the 1840s to the 1860s. Copper luster was popular during the period because it reflected the gas lights that brightened each home in the evening hours. This creamer is an early piece with no manufacturer's mark and is made from ironstone dipped in copper luster. The individual creamer measures 3 1/4 inches tall and 3 1/4 inches in diameter from the spout to the handle. The copper glaze is in beautiful condition. With no stains. 3 piece antique copper luster creamer. Pitcher and egg cup. Small creamer It has a beaded bands and a ribbed bottom. Raised motif on a deep blue band. Looks like a girl playing with her dog. Same design on both sides but painted in different colors. It stands 3 5/8" tall x 3" round at the widest portion. 4 1/2" spout to handle. Pitcher has a beaded rim and fancy handle. It has the same raised motif on both sided and floral one under the spout. It stands 5 3/4" tall x 4 5/8" round at the widest portion. 6 1/4" spout to handle. This one has no cracks or chips but has a really rough handle. Done in manufacturing with glaze over top. See pic of handle. It also looks like the luster was not put on properly on the base done in the manufacturing process because it doesn't look as lustery as the rest of the piece. ... moreThere are several popped air bubbles or paint bubbles in the raised portion and I see crazing. The Egg Cup. Well I am not sure if this is a egg cup or not but that is what I am calling it has a raised motif of a girl playing with an animal. It has the same scene on both sides but painted in different colors. It has 2 beaded bands around the pedestal. It measures 3" round at top, 2 1/4" round at base and approx. 3 5/8" tall. 2 piece antique copper luster cream pitcher and bowl. Small pitcher has beaded bands and a ribbed bottom. Raised motif on a deep blue teal band. Same design on 3 sides. It stands 4 1/4" tall x 3 1/4" round at the widest portion. 5 1/4" spout to handle. This piece has crazing and a rough spot on the spout. A few manufacturing flaws of glaze or paint chips on the raised motif in a few spots. The bowl has the same raised floral motif but reversed. It is painted in bright colors on a lighter blue teal band. Bowl has a pedestal and flares out at the rim. This piece has lots of scratches on the inside of the bowl and I found no cracks or chips. I'm not sure of the maker.no mark.there is a black swirl type glaze mark inside bottom. I don't know if it means anything. Measures.3 1/4" tall.opening is 2" spout to handle end is 4" Great shape for its age and use! A few very minor surface scratches.doesn't affect piece in any way. A couple of"minor" spots that didn't get glazed.again.no affect. One"minor" chip or chipped glaze to the left of spout in pic.3 on the lower beaded band. Not deep by any means: Can't be noticed easily:matches color of copper w/out of flash. Pic.4 is a glare spot on handle. Bottom(pic.7.shows what looks like a tiny chip on the rim.top)but it's from when it was made. Inside ... moreon spout has a"couple" tiny air bubble glaze pops. old old old pretty pitcher sauce or cream. there is wear on the enamels as you can see in photos but not deep chipping. there is a very shallow sliver flake just under the shoulder rim of pitcher you can see in darkened photo with pitcher handle on left side. it is very shallow not into the rim design but just below could be touched up I believe with some of the new copper nail polish that is available. this item comes from the same estate as the old historical blue items we just sold.
