Up for auction is a beautiful porcelain ironstone blue water pitcher measuring 8" in height. With hand painted raised black flowers highlighted in gold. There are approximately 7+ small chips within the raised pattern.and a factory repair on rim. These flaws do not detract from it's beauty! This is not a perfect piece. My research shows this water pitcher to have been made by William& Thomas Adams(My Granny's Attic Antiques: UK Porcelain and Pottery Marks) They were in business from 1866-1900. Which put them during the"Aesthetic Movement" of 1860-1900. The pitcher measures 12 1/2" tall to the spout. Pattern is brown transfer. I can remember my Grandmother having it set on a washstand. It is a very large and heavy Ironstone set. It is old and has been used, passed down and it does have flaws, and wear. It has 1 fairly large chip on the edge of the bowl. It has several small flake size chips on the top edge of bowl. It has small flake chips on the edge of pitcher. It has a few bubbles formed from the glazing. It is unmarked. It has no cracks that I can see. It has lovely roses and floral decor on the front and back with colors of brown, tan, and off-white. J&G Meakin Ironstone Water Pitcher - Block Optic - Hanley England - circa 1890
J&G Meakin"Block Optic" Ironstone pottery was produced by the Meakin Brothers both in plain white as well as with copper luster decoration. Offered is a huge white ironstone pitcher that epitomizes the tendency of that period toward squared. Angular shapes. Measuring a very generous 12" high(at tip of thumbrest) and with the distance between the spout and the handle being 9 1/2" the pitcher has a squared. Eight-panelled body with a pronounced waist that tapers gently as it moves up toward the slightly scalloped rim. Below the scalloping a narrow band in relief accentuates the neck's perimeter. Appropriately marked on the underside of the base with the pottery's signature in underglaze black print this pitcher was made by J. G. Meakin in their works at Hanley. Staffordshire some time between 1890 and 1914 Exact ... moredating is difficult as the Meakins did not register their shapes. Condition on the pitcher is excellent. For its large size. This pitcher has a very delicate and classy look. The glaze is in excellent shape, very shiny and translucent with a slight blueish tinge to it and no crazing. The white of the ironstone body is crisp and bright, unmarred by stains or other discolorations. As you can see in the pictures. This is a truly eye-catching piece of ironstone.

I am offering for sale this very beautiful Wood& Sons. Ltd. England, Ironstone Ware, TALL Pitcher. This Pitcher measures a nice 12 1/2 inches tall! The circumference of the center is 26 inches around and it weighs 4 pounds 8 ounces. This Pitcher has a sweet embossed Fleur de lis pattern just under the top of the handle on each side and there is a Gold Pansy flower in the center of the Pitcher on each side. The gold trim on this is in good condition with the exception of the top of the handle on the sides. It is a bit worn off. There are no chips or cracks on this piece but there is crazing. All in all this is a beautiful vintage piece that would look nice with most decor or holding a large bunch of flowers. I am a good packer and shipper so I will use the utmost care. 1847 ANTIQUE MULBERRY Transferware BOCHARA IRONSTONE DECORATED WATER PITCHER
This is a gorgeous MULBERRY transferware water pitcher made in the 1840's. It is large. Standing 12" tall and 8" at the widest point. The mulberry color is almost black on the base. The bottom has James Edwards impressed. This picture was made in Burlsem England and is in an oriental design with persons on a bridge and with lovely bunches of flowers. An interesting fact is that the pitcher was purchased on Ebay sometime in the past as it has an Ebay receipt inside that shows the local person who bought it paid $265.00. There is no date on the receipt. The pitcher has an old crack in the base of the handle that is starting to discolor. I have pictured this. Otherwise there is no damage and the glaze is thick and shiny. Please email with any questions.

No cracks. No chips and no heavy crazing. One very small hairline circular crease may have been a production flaw. difficult to know for sure. Please look at photos. The gilt trim is worn. A stunning example of American pottery. Rare blue transferware decoration added to give it English appeal. Made with very heavy quality ironstone. Nice gilding accents. The pitcher is heavily crazed which is typical of American wares from this time period. Upper rim gilding is worn. Pitcher also has iron pits which is natural from age. No chips or cracks.
