ELSTERWERDA POTTERY- PITCHER & WASH BOWL - 1900 - 1918 - KATE 3 STAMP - WOW!
THIS AUCTION IS FOR ONE ANTIQUE PITCHER AND WASH BOWL SET ELSTERWERDA POTTERY THESE ITEMS ARE OVER 100 YEARS OLD! The small factory was founded in 1900 right between the arms of the rivers Pulsnitz and Black Elster by a Mr. Korsukewiez who over the years slowly but surely increased the capacity until he employed up to 200 people in the 1920's and 30's. Although some other sources claim that the factory had a peak of 400 workers during 1925. Many famous designers and sculptors worked at the factory, for example the designer Ursula Fesca who worked there between 1928 and 1931 or other well-known artists like Siegfried Möller. Grete Gottschalk and Franz Eggert. Next to normal household items the factory also produced ceramic clocks during the Art Deco period and one of the decoration styles used is a typical example for a combined ... moreairbrush and stencil technique used during the mid-thirties. Used between 1900 and around 1918. U. ='Uhr' clock) the number is a combo of mold and decoration. Check via the email; elsterwerda pottery. After the end of WWII some of the machines and kilns were disassembled and sent to the Soviet Union as part of the reparation agreement. Sadly that is also the time where the whole company archive went missing; it is believed that it was either destroyed or(more probably) taken away with the machinery. Also shortly after WWII the factory mark was replaced by a stamped' V.V.B. Elsterwerda' which was then used until the'V.V.B.based structure for grouping nationalized companies was slowly abandoned in the early to mid-1950s in favour of the linear' V.E.B. approach. The pitcher is very near perfect except for a few flaws. But it is very stable to handle. Truly a conversation piece that should make you proud to show off. Buffalo Pottery was named for the New York city in which it originated. But the reason the brand became so successful had nothing to ... moredo with bison or location. Antique 4 Piece Set Buffalo Pottery Chamber Wash Bowl Set "Cairo" 1905-1916
Buffalo Pottery Set I am proud to present a beautiful antique Chamber set consisting of a wash bowl. Large pitcher, small pitcher, and what I beleive may be a soap bowl. The pattern is"Cairo" with lovely Old World roses and was manufactured from 1905 to 1916. On the underneath side of each piece states that the item is Buffalo Pottery and has the Buffalo symbol. See picture of stamp. The set has no chips. Cracks, breaks or repairs. There is typical crazing present in all 4 pieces, with the wash bowl having the most crazing. The other three pieces display without seeing crazing except upon close examination. There is some gold trim loss to the wash bowl and large pitcher. The smaller pitcher has most of its gold trim. The set is Strikingly decorated with Colorful Pansies Bursting in Purple and Yellow and Green against a white semi-porcelain background and hand. Sponge-applied gold accents throughout. Up for sale is an antique Anchor Pottery Wash Bowl and Pitcher Set. This pottery company was located in Trenton. New Jersey. It was later purchased by Stangl. The pitcher and bowl are in very good condition. There are just a couple tiny flea bites on the edges. The two small vases have chips at the base, but the other sides display very well. This set is made of semi-porcelain. It is large and very sturdy. The bowl measures almost 16 inches in diameter with a height of 5 inches. The pitcher has a height of 11 inches and is 11 inches from handle to spout. The small bowl measures 5.25 inches in diameter by 2.25 inches in height. It has a ring inside so that the soap is raised for drying. This piece bears the Anchor Pottery hallmark. The rest of the pieces are unmarked. Lovely antique white ironstone pitcher and bowl. Mark on the bottom identifies it as by Edwin Bennett Pottery Co. of Baltimore MD. Both pieces are marked. Although the mark on the pitcher is very light at this point in time. Both bowl and pitcher have staining and mild crazing(please see photos) There is a hairline crack near the top of the bowl(I have provided two views of the crack- one from the interior of the bowl and one from the exterior) There are also three small marks/ dots on the interior of the bowl. I believe that these are from the way in which the bowl was set to dry following the glazing process. There are also a few scratches in the bottom of the bowl simply from use. There are hairlines. There is a spider line near the base of the handle to the left side. There is also a hairline crossing underneath the spout. It is barely visible from the outside. Vintage Antique Pitcher Wash Basin Pottery Ceramic Small Unmarked
Being auctioned is an adorable pitcher and washbasin set. The colors are ivory/cream and the hand painting is done in brown. There is no makers marks to identify the piece. There is no cracks. No chips, and no fading on the pitcher. The only thing I see on the pitcher is small little pin holes where air bubbles developed while going through glazing. The basin is in good used shape the is small chips on the side rim and two chips underneath. Please look at the pictures it will show you where the chips are. Antique buffalo pottery company wash basin. Floral design. Measures about 16" in diameters structurally very sound. There Us some staining in the bowl itself as shown. Also. There is a crack on bottom, as shown. The crack does not go through the entire piece. It's almost like a surface scratch to me. Nothing is loose or broken through, and I can't feel the crack itself when I feel over it. Old porcelain get these fractures due to the material. Very good looking basin. I have looked up the marks on these pieces of Vodrey and the marks date c1896(Kovels) Bonita is the name the pottery gave it or was the pottery herself. Not sure. The pitcher in the bowl is approx. 13” tall, bowl is 5” tall and the width of the bowl is approx. 16 ½” across. The weight on both bowl and pitcher is 12# reason for the shipping cost. The blue is very nice color and the bowl also has a doe color washed around the edge inside and out. I thought this was stain but nothing would remove the color, must be in the making of the set. Too, the pitcher has two runs that is in the making, as shown in the pictures. There are stress cracks but not broken through. This is a very large. Antique pitcher or jug made by Onondaga Pottery Co. the same makers of Syracuse China. It is in very nice condition. There is a very faint spider crack in the glaze on the very bottom, but it does not go through to the inside. There is also some handling wear to the gold trim, but no other chips, cracks or crazing. Very clean and shiny. I believe this was the pitcher to a wash set, and probably had a matching bowl, chamber pot and other pieces. It is approx. 11 1/2in. tall. Antique Rubian Art Pottery England Pitcher and Wash Basin Early 1900s Art Noveau
Up for sale is an antique Victorian pitcher and wash basin. By the famous Rubian Art Pottery of England. The hand-painted Art Nouveau design around these pieces feature sun or moon setting on the horizon. With a volcano looking like mountain peak in between. Sea gull like birds hovering in the sky. The medium blue color with black buildings on the coast. The birds and trim of much of the detail looks to be some type of gold filigree paint. The gold trim on the basin shows some wear. The time frame for Rubian Art Pottery is anywhere from 1907– the early 1930’s. There is some crackling of the glaze on the bottom of the basin, common with something this old.
