The old floral decal on the front is paper and it is curling around the edges. We did not want to remove it and replace it as we feel it only adds to the value. It measures approximately 15 1/2"s tall and 15 1/4"s at the widest part and the wood is 3/4" thick. It could have been used in the past as a towel rack as the basket extend out in front 3"s away from the wood pitcher. The bottom band has something in the diamond centers-a fruit with a stem?There is a inside top thin chip 1/2" by1/4" many times we see little spots that appear as tiny chips,but under magnifing glass they appear shiny where they were glazed actually the paint did not completely cover as they are under the glaze, one under the edge on the bottom of this pitcher does not show. Antique Primitive Green& Blue Spongeware Banded Stoneware Pitcher Up for bids is this antique Primitive green& blue banded Spongeware Stoneware Pitcher. The pitcher stands 8 1/2" high x 8" wide. The base diameter is 4 3/8" Decorated with a nice country blue and dark green spongeware with three bands in the center. This would make a nice addition to your collection and look right at home in your country kitchen. Condition is very good with a flea bite to spount on the side(it would not affect pouring) Another small one on the center of the rim and a shallow chip to the rim that is hard to notice with the spongeware design. Great Primitive Yellow Ware Pitcher I have had this pitcher for a very long time. Its time to let it go. The pitcher if very heavy and a bright shade of mustard yellow. I think the third picture shows the true color of the pitcher the best. No cracks or chips. There is crazing throughout the pitcher and glaze lines. The handle looks applied and the base is ribbed. It appears very primitive due the crudeness of the pottery. Meaning there are a lot of pottery lines and unevenness. There are rough lines inside the pitcher. It has an applied strap handle, the spout is small and pulled, and the body has a bulbous shape. The outside top was decorated with a deep green drip glaze, which covers part of the handle as well. Measures 3 3/4" high to the top of the strap handle, and is 3" wide across the bulbous body. Unmarked on the base-dates to around 1900. Condition is extremely good with no cracks. Chips or repairs. There is all-over age crazing on the piece. The strap handle is a little off to one side. There are some tiny glaze pops and skips at the top and on the handle. RARE 19th Century French Clay Pottery Pitcher Confit Pot Antique Primitive
This is a unique 19th century large French pottery pitcher with a handle and minimal pouring spout. Glaze is mustard gold interior and exterior top half and cream/grey bottom half. Appears to be red clay underneath. The design resembles brick work or a stone wall made of crudely painted marks in green glaze. Probably southern France. Came from an estate with many 19th century French pottery pieces(I have sold all the others) Most of these pottery pieces from that region have flaws in glaze and clay which give them character and this one has many, it is quite primitive. There is crazing/tiny cracks to glaze typical for age. There are no cracks in the clay; there is one chip on the upper rim near the handle and glaze missing underneath the chip on the pitcher vessel. Some of the glaze on the upper rim is worn off, which is common. It is a beautiful ... morepiece. Please see photos for anything not mentioned here as part of the item description. Measurements: 6" diameter upper rim and base(interior upper rim is 4.5" diameter) and 8.25" tall. The last 2 photos are of a similar piece filled with irises that was in an opening scene of 1930's England in the movie The Hours. Antique Pottery Miniature Pitcher Creamer Mini Primitive Green Drip Glaze This miniature pitcher has a bulbous body with an applied strap handle. The spout is small and pulled. The outside near the top was decorated with a deep green drip glaze. Which covers part of the handle as well. Measures 3 3/4" high to the top of the handle, and is 3" wide across the bulbous body. Unmarked on the base as to the maker. Extremely good condition with no cracks. Chips or repairs. There is all-over age crazing on the piece. The strap handle is a little off to one side. There are some tiny glaze pops and skips at the top and on the handle. Slight discoloration of the white body. NOTE: At this time. I only ship to United States addresses and P.O. boxes. I have seen the basins for sale but rarely seen a matching set like this. I was told this was salvaged from a monastery or nuns school in Baltimore before the building was razed. The pitcher is marked Germany on the bottom, and the bowl is unmarked.
