Antique Black on Cream Colored Pitcher Creamware or Cream Ware Transfer Pottery US Sloop Wasp Capturing British Sloop Frolic October 18. 1812 For Your Liverpool Pottery. Historic Pottery, War of 1812, or Maritime Related Collection Details Description: This is a nice size old glazed pottery(32 fluid ounce) pitcher made in the USA. The piece has a classic antique shape of milk pitchers and is decorated with a black transfer on cream colored background. The decoration depicts a maritime battle scene on one side captioned"The American Sloop of War WASP Capturing the English Sloop of War Frolic Oct. 18. 1812. The other side has the United States Arm consisting of a spread eagle with a shield at its chest and a banner in his beak proclaiming"E PLURIBUS UNUM" and the words"Arms of the United States" above it and the words"Under ... morethis we Prosper" under it. On the front of the pitcher, right under the spout, is the image of lady liberty standing with the word"Liberty" under it. The piece has a round base with curved sides rising in bulbous fashion to a plain rim. The rim has a spout and there is an applied handle on the side of the piece. The bottom of the pitcher has the image of marching drummer beating on a drum he is carrying on his waist. Please carefully view photos as they are part and parcel of the description. Historic Perspective: USS Wasp of the United States Navy was a sailing sloop of war captured by the British in the early months of the War of 1812. She was constructed in 1806 at the Washington Navy Yard. Was commissioned sometime in 1807, Master Commandant John Smith in command. In 1812 she captured HMS Frolic, but was immediately herself captured. The British took her into service first as HMS Loup Cervier and then as HMS Peacock. She was lost, presumed foundered with all hands, in mid-1814. Date: Uncertain. Staffordshire creamware 19th century pitcher. This pitcher is decorated in a polychrome glaze with a floral pattern. There is a raised banner on the bottom with hand painted numbers#8899 9. I can't make out the name on the banner. There is staining inside the creamer and a pit where the handle joins the inside of the piece(see picture) There is faint staining on the outside and some glaze loss(see picture) There are no cracks. Hello: For sale is an early 19th Century English creamware pitcher with an Asian scene on it. The pitcher is 5.5" tall. And 3.75" with at the mouth, and 3.2" wide at the base. It is white creamware with red, orange, brown, and yellow. The scene shows an asian man, woman and 2 children. The overall condition is so-so. No repairs, or significant damage, but there are a number of small hairline cracks on the bottom and around the base. The finish also has a number of small worn spots. Early 19th Century Creamware Longfellow Memorial Pitcher. Born on February 27. 1807, in Portland, Maine, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow became a Harvard scholar versed in several European languages. He was heavily influenced by romanticism and made a name as a poet and novelist with works like Hyperion, Evangeline, Poems on Slavery and The Song of Hiawatha. Known for his translation on Dante's Divine Comedy as well, Longfellow died on March 24, 1882, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. A Rare Staffordshire Creamware Twisted Handles Cream Pitcher circa 1770 ~ Elijah Fed by Ravens Bible Theme ~ Signed Dutch Decoration ~ About 5 1/2" high ~ 4 1/2" from spout to handle An eighteenth century Staffordshire cream jug of baluster shape with wavy rim and two twisted. Reeded handles with elaborate flower and leaf terminals. It is painted in black crosshatch style with Elijah sitting by a tree with two ravens bringing him food. Elijah's face, hands and the cookies are washed in pale orange. There is written beneath the drawing'Kooninge 17.2-6' which could be a bible verse or signature. Sold in as found condition; although it looks very lovely from one angle. There are two patches of old repair to the top rim, this has flaked away mostly. There's also a tiny filled chip on the opposite inner rim. There is ... morealso a long meandering crack from one side near the bottom. Under the drawing etc. There is one minor chip at the footrim. Historical Liverpool Creamware Pitcher Jug War of 1812 & Franklin Mug pottery
This pitcher and mug are in great condition but do have some enamel cracks due to aging. No unnatural cracks or chip to speak of. I have not seen the mug advertised. There is no stamp on the bottom like the colonial drummer on the pitcher however they appear to be from the same maker and both have the USA stamp on the bottom.

This is a darling piece that adds warmth to any decor(even if you're not from Iowa! We think it was most likely made in England in the late 19th or early 20th century, possibly as a commemorative or collectible piece for the State of Iowa? Creamware or ironstone. Darkened over time to a rich ecru- Both sides are decorated with scenes of an old mill on a stream. Framed by wildflowers in dark red/sienna on an ecru background- Glaze of ribbed collar has darkened in an alternating pattern that has produced a lovely patina and depth- On underside. Iowa" is stamped in brown ink, 846" is hand-painted in gilt, and"3" is impressed- Very ... moreslight remaining thin gilt line along rim. Glaze is crazed throughout. Which is typical for this type of piece- From my clean. Smoke-free home This pitcher has been in storage for the last 40 years. It is really nicely preserved for its age but there are flaws. Although there are no repairs or alterations. Two adjoining chips on lip: outer 3/16" x 5/16" and inner 3/16" x 7/16" 3/16" nick on inside of lip above handle- 1-1/2" hairline crack in glaze on inner side of lip. With 1/4" appearing on outer lip- Minor hairline cracks in glaze on underside which do not go through- Bottom of handle has crack—appears to be through and through—however. Handle is firmly attached to body and has not been repaired- Hairline crack where spout meets body. Approximate dimensions: Height: 8-1/4" Diameter of bottom rim: 3-1/4" Width at widest point.
