VINTAGE EARLY 20th C. ENGLISH SADLER & CO PITCHER W/ PEWTER LID
Antique English pewter-lidded pitcher. Made by Sadler& CO. Marked SADLER BURSLEM ENGLAND. This interesting and beautiful pitcher is made of pottery(earthenware) but is painted to look as if it were porcelain. I understand that this treatment of a pottery item as unusual. The lid is pewter and features a thumb tab set in a floral design. There is a crease in the front of the lid, but it is otherwise intact. The body of the pitcher is painted in two colors, dark blue(usually referred to as cobalt) on the top half and light blue on the bottom half. It is decorated with daisy-like flowers and has gold gilt lines around the waistline and bottom of the pitcher. As well as where the stylized light blue handle attaches to the pitcher. The bottom and inside are brown, the natural color of the pottery. The pitcher is about 7.5 inches tall from ... morebase to top of the thumb tab and is about 4 inches across the base, tapering upward. I am not an expert and I have relied on research to describe this item as accurately as I can. I have no real idea about the age of the item. But I have been told that it is likely from 1895 to 1920 because the tariff act enacted in 1921 required the words"Made in England" to be used on items produced from that time on. This very unusual. Exceptional piece will a great addition to your collection or provide a starting point for your new one! I combine shipping and ship within one business day of receipt of your cleared payment. Thanks for looking!

W RIDGWAY SON & CO. HANLEY 1840 KNIGHT DRABWARE with PEWTER LID PITCHER TANKARD
Antique stoneware or drabware pitcher dated September 1. 1840. This pitcher is quite grand and lovely. Made in sage green with attached and loose fitting original pewter top. It features a very detailed scene of 2 knights on horses in a jousting match. There are 2 other knights in armour standing by watching the match. There is also a tent. The pitcher is decorated with an elaborate band of grapevines with clusters of grapes, a Gothic design outlining the spout and base, and beautifully designed handle. The detailed workmanship on this pitcher is very fine. It measures approx. 6 1/2" tall to the top of the handle and approx. 5" across at the widest point. This is a rare and beautiful pitcher found in both the collections of the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert in London. This jug celebrates the Eglinton Tournament. A re-enactment ... moreof a medieval tournament, mounted by Archibald Montgomerie, 13th Earl of Eglinton, in 1839, to supplement what he saw as meager celebrations for the Coronation of Queen Victoria. It was held at Eglinton Castle, Ayrshire. Although spoilt by torrential rain, it attracted around 100,000 visitors and was widely reported in the press, inspiring several other products. For the Eglinton Tournamet, see I. Anstruther, The Knight and the Umbrella: An Account of the Eglinton Tornament' London 1963. For further discussion of Ridgeway's Eglinton jug, see R. K. Henrywood, Relief-Moulded Jugs 1820-1900' Woodbridge 1984, p. 68-9. William Ridgeway is the name most associated with the production of relief-moulded jugs. Many of them may have been designed by his partner. James Leonard Abington. The words'Published by' refers to the Act of Parliament of 1798. Passed for'encouraging the art of making new models and casts of busts and other things therein mentioned. The purpose was to protect designers from copyists and was directed mainly at sculptors, but the provision covered any cast or moulded object decorated with human or animal figures. Antique Painted Porcelain Glazed Ceramic Syrup Pitcher Hinged Pewter (?) Lid
544x376 Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE You are bidding on a beautifully decorative painted ceramic or porcelain pitcher with a hinged metal lid that looks to be pewter. Approximately 8” x 4” From my great-grandmother’s house in Boston. Massachusetts where I grew up, this lovely piece now needs another home. I have seen it in a glass display cabinet ever since I was little, and I am now 60 years old! It was lovingly kept out of the light and moisture. The handle must have been repaired a long. Long time ago, because I had never noticed the two small cracks until now. They actually blend in with the gold painted decoration. The handle is strong and functional. The lid is attached with original rivets and the hinge is tight and straight. It has not been cleaned or polished in over 60 years. Only dusted! I am not sure of the metal. ... moreBut it is very similar to old pewter. There is one small chip on the base that is barely noticeable. It also fits in with the decoration. The only marking visble is the numeral‘20’ impressed into the base. Opening bid $25.00. We always treat our fragile objects with the utmost care. And will carefully bubble wrap and protectively package it for shipping. A small handling charge of $5.00 is added for the proper box, packing materials and our time. Posted with

Antique English Art Deco Pitcher in Green & Silver with Martin Hanley Pewter Lid
Wonderful English Art Deco pitcher in rich green glaze with silver luster details. The removable pewter lid was made by Martin Hanley and pivots open(because of the weight at its back edge) as the pitcher pours out its contents. Really delightful and simple technology! Height: 6 3/4" width 4" 7"wide including lip and handle) Appears to hold about a quart. Water pitcher meant for a drinks bar? Syrup pitcher? Condition of ceramic jug is excellent. With no chips or cracks. Some of the silver luster has worn off, however(note my close up photos, especially of the handle for specifics of the condition) I'm not sure of the maker, but the base has number 392 and an X painted in dark red. Really nice piece.

Beautiful Kaiser Porcelain Pitcher w/ Pewter Lid; c. 1970 in Blue/White, Perfect
This is a beautiful Kaiser porcelain and pewter pitcher. It is exceptionally well made. From West Germany, dating back to,the 1970's. The makers mark on the bottom is the mark that the company began to use in 1970. The mark stands for"Kaiser-Porzellan" instead of the former trademark which was"Alka" In 1982 the company celebrated its 200th anniversary, and the company is still running strong today, at present. The design is referred to as"Echt Kobalt" which is a German description for the intense blue and white coloring. The scenes depicted on the pitcher are romantic and quite lovely, they are displayed like cameos. They feature a man and woman in outdoor scenes amid trees and shrubbery in the foreground. Both scenes also have animals in the background. The remaining design is a very pretty in an intricate ... morefloral motif. The attached lid is great, done in pewter; as is the rim around the base. The piece presents in perfect, like brand new, condition. I find no flaws whatsoever. It weighs just under 3 pounds, and stands 11 in tall. The top opening is 3 in and 6/8 in across, and the pitcher measures 20 in around at the widest point. This really is a great piece, it is very decorative, and will display beautifully anywhere. It's strong history, and exceptional condition, make it all the more desirable.

Antique 1868 Cork, Edge & Malkin Parian Ware Salt Glazed Jug Pitcher /Pewter Lid
This is an outstanding pitcher made by Cork. Edge& Malkin in the 19th Century. This style Pitcher is known as Parian ware. Parian ware is a bisque porcelain material which on the exterior is covered in a salt glaze finish for protection. The interiors of these jugs are normally covered in a very glossy finish. This particular jug is very well marked. It has, not only a makers mark, but a title and Patent date of manufacture as well. The base carries the makers mark of a famous English Staffordshire company from Burslem known at that time as Cork, Edge& Malkin. This piece is also dated November 25th 1868. This one even has a pattern or biblical title known as"Ruth" This pitcher has a pewter lid. It could have been used as a milk pitcher, Syrup, beer, or even water. This is both an excellent and rare piece because it does ... moregive us so very much information. I have taken several pictures for for your better understanding. I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. I have started it at a very low price. That is not an indication of what I think it is worth. I want to sell it. I see another slightly larger, however, identical pitcher starting at $600.00 and that is without a pewter lid. Like I said, I want to sell mine. As to the condition; There are no chips. Cracks, crazing or damage of any kind to this pitcher. This pitcher does need more cleaning. I spent a little time cleaning it and made great progress, however, I will leave that to the new owner. I am sure that you can get this to look near new with the right products. It looks to me as if the pewter lid was reworked at the hinge. Whoever did this, did an outstanding job. This is clearly shown in the pictures. This jug measures 7" high. It is approximately 5 1/2" long with the handle and about 4 1/5" wide without. It holds 40 ounces when filled. We pack everything very carefully. We ship immediately after payment is confirmed. I'll be happy to combine shipping whenever possible to save you money. GOOD LUCK! MAY TH

ANTIQUE PORCELAIN SYRUP PITCHER ART NOUVEAU PEWTER LID WHITE RAISED DOGWOOD
DESCRIPTION: A very unusual pitcher. Perhaps not for syrup as it is very large, but for milk or water at a table. The design is something akin to cottage, art nouveau style and is very lovely. The most peculiar feature though. Is the squared off top which has a beautiful, fully functioning squared off lid! I have collected syrup pitcher for years. And have NEVER seen anything like it. The raised design is lovely pink dogwood flowers and the leaves are several shades of bluish, yellowish greens. Clearly hand painted. Gold accents on raised filigree patterns. MEASUREMENTS: She stands 8.5" tall. 6" front to back and 4.25" wide. CONDITION: The porcelain is absolutely perfect. Not a chip. Crack or scratch on her. There are a few spots on the glaze, but close inspection reveals that they are touches of gold paint from the original ... moreartist and under the glaze, so not to be considered damage, but original features. The pewter lid is wonderfully functional with it's little porcelain thumb leaver, which works by sliding it up and down with your thumb. There is a little discoloration to the edge of the pewter lid just at the lip(see pictures) PLEASE EXAMINE PICTURES CAREFULLY. THEY ARE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION, AND ASK ME QUESTIONS! RARE 19c Stoneware Pitcher w/ Pewter Lid - Monkeys Playing Cards & Bacchus
Possibly from the 1840s; see reference from Seekers Antiques Website to similar pitcher w/o pewter lid and unmarked( They say R.K.Henrywood in Relief-Moulded Jugs(pg. 236) cites reference to eighteenth century monkey masquerades or singeries. They may lack. However the non-judgmental nonchalance of those courtly creatures. Kathy Hughes seems nearer the mark in A Collector's Guide to Nineteenth-Century Jugs(Vol. I. Pg. 44) when she links the scene to similar subjects in the work of the Flemish painter David Teniers the Younger. Here the attitude toward such tavern scenes carries a more northern tone of Protestant disapproval. This pitcher has a hinged pewter lid and is marked with the#5" Approximately 7& 1/4in. tall by 3& 5/8in. base diameter; 6& 3/4in. wide from edge of handle to front lip of pitcher. Please notify me of the items. Please note there may be additional shipping costs for packages going internationally. And for States outside the contiguous United States(Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico) I will notify you in advance of shipping the item. The higher the fee and more time it takes to wrap the item(s) but the safer your item(s) should arrive- some people build this cost into the price of their item(s) but I feel it is appropriate to assign in the shipping charges as it directly relates. Antique Samuel Alcock Lavender Relief Parian Jug Pitcher James Dixon Pewter Lid
I knew nothing about this jug when I saw it at a local estate. But thought it was just beautiful. I have since learned that it is Samuel Alcock Parian Ware(similar to Jasper Ware) dating sometime in the mid 19th century. It has a gorgeous lilac or lavender ground with white relief detailing what appear to be Greek or Roman gods, and a face incorporated within the upper section of the handle. The surface of the pitcher is clean and free of stains or spots or other things I have seen on similar pitchers listed on Ebay. The handle is repaired at each spot it meets the pitcher, but done quite nicely so that it does display well. It is about 7.5" tall. The base bears a black under glaze hallmark as shown, as well as"118" printed under the glaze, and"24 M" impressed on the rim of the base. There is a small chip on the base. ... moreThe lid is metal- either silverplate or pewter, I really don't know, and is marked James Dixon& Sons and with"57" impressed in the metal. The inside is white and appears to be clean with no stains, cracks etc. I tried to take good photos for you, but please let me know if there is anything else you need. Thanks for looking.

Syrup Pitcher with Pewter Lid Intact, Pre-1900, Circa 1899, Blue Transferware
These pitchers came around the turn of the last Century 1899-1900. Most were used quite often on breakfast tables to serve the syrup for pancakes and waffles. They were normally one of the first items to get broken too. So its hard to find one that is intact with its lid. This transfer ware syrup pitcher is in great condition and it is more than 100 years old. The pattern is lovely and the pewter lid is intact. I wouldn't use this pitcher as its not a good idea to use pewter, but it makes a nice collection piece of Americana history. Payment is through Pay Pal immediately. Shipping and handling is 1 business day. weather permitting) No Saturday Shipping. Weather permitting means. When the weather service serves a warning of below zero temperatures, blizzards, sleet/Ice Storms that happen here in the winter in Vermont) I don't go out ... moreduring these times because of physical problems.
