English Bisque Parian Pitcher with English Registry Mark 1857- Heavily repaired
Up for you consideration is this beautiful English Parian Bisque Pitcher with the English Registry Mark. The mark indicates that it is ceramic- IV. Manufactured in 1857-K, on June- M, 19th. Parcel no 2. Measurements: 10 inches tall. Condition: This piece has been damaged and repaired. The repairs have been done on the spout and on the bottom. Both are highly visible in the photographs. The discoloration on the top and around the bottom are a result of what looks to be some sort of plaster that was used to repair the piece. It does chip off easily. But I was afraid to do to much and cause more damage to the piece. Despite the damage, it is a lovely piece of the history of English Ceramics from this era. The mouth gold trim is additionally beaded. Also in gold. The porcelain is bisque on the outside. But glossy on the inside. Measurements: 5.5” tall. 6.25” across from the handle to the spout, 4.5” across the widest part of the body of the pitcher(at the base) Condition: some of the gold trim has been rubbed off on the spout(see last photo) Top of the handle(see one of the first photos) and there are some dirt stains on the inside- they might be gold paint smudges, as they don’t wash off with mild soap. Small Antique Bisque Pitcher Blue Glaze Angel Kissing Mother Mourning 1515 Mark We took a trip to some unfamiliar shops this weekend and came home with some fabulous items– lots of antiques and uniques for you! I’ll be listing all week. So be sure to check back! You know. I just don't think that my photos do this one justice. I don't buy a lot of breakables- for obvious reasons, but I do if it's a special piece- as this one surely is. It is marked by the maker(but I do not know who that is- you may know more than I do) handwritten on the bottom in the bisque is the number 1515. It's a small pitcher with a deep navy blue glaze. I think it looks darker in person than it does in my photos with the light reflection from the snow. The bottom of the piece, and the relief decoration in the front are white white bisque. That decoration ... moreis a heartwarming scene of a young angel kissing a woman- it's mother, I'm guessing. This very much reminds me of a mourning scene. The woman is laying down and the angel is coming from up above. The dark spots that you see under the figures are in a deep moss green, and that's small hand painted marks. You can see that the pitcher used to have a gold rim around the top/mouth- that's mostly worn with only peeks of it that can be seen. It looks like chips in my photos along that top rim, but it's not- there's no chips that I can find. The only issue that I can find are cracks(or crazing- whichever you'd call it) that can be seen on the very bottom only- see photos 9& 10. I think they look more like cracks, but there's no movement there at all, and they are old. This is a small pitcher- it measures 3 3/4" handle to side, 1 1/2" across the mouth and 2" across the bottom. It is 4" tall and weighs a smidge over 1/4 lb. I'm showing in photo 8 a small divot in the side that is original to the piece- it's glazed over. I noticed some small red spots that look like paint- on the body and also in the woman's hair- see

They produced decorative porcelain and figurines in the Meissen style. It features a highly stylized form with a lobed base and an elephant handle. It is hand painted and enameled.
