The basket was made by Wilcox Silverplate Co. And it is made of Quadruple Silverplate in Meriden, Conn. Wilcox started making silverplate items in 1865, and they continued until they joined with Internation Silver in 1898. The basket has a scalloped edge, and around that edge is a scroll, rose, and leaf pattern. In the center of the basket is an ornately etched bird nest, and the top of the handle is monogrammed CMB. This beautiful plate(or basket) is etched with a floral rose design. This style plate on a pedestal has been referred to as a Wedding Plate. Handled Brides Basket, Bridal Basket, Cake Basket, Calling Card Tray and a Brides Calling Card Basket. The mark on the bottom is a full circle and reads: Quadruple Plate, Wilcox Silverplate Co, Meriden, Conn and the#2772(I believe, the# is difficult to read) It measures approx 9" wide at the top, the plate is 5" tall, 11.5" to the top of the handle and 5.25" across the bottom of the base. The Wilcox Silver Plate Co. started in 1867. The company trademark(crossed hammers in full circle) remained in use through the acquisition of Parker& Casper Co. in 1869 and the formation of the International Silver Co. in 1898. The half circle mark was not used until the 1920's. This dates ... morethe plate between 1867 and somewhere in the 1920's. Putting it at 90 to 100+ years old. Considering it's age the plate is in great condition. A truly elegant silverplate swing handle brides basket or bowl. It was manufactured by James W. Tufts of Boston. MA between 1875 and 1891. It is marked Quadruple plate, and is numbered both 2769 and 35. The center of the bowl depicts a mermaid admiring herself in a mirror held for her by a cherub or putti. There is abundant floral decoration including roses, and the bowl rim and handle are decorated in a heart design. The entire piece is done in elaborate repousse in the rococco style. The swing handle moves easily, and the feet are perfect. It is lightly tarnished, and I guarantee there is no wear to the quadruple silver plating. What a wonderful antique brides basket with original silverplate holder and a deep peach glass bowl with a white casing. No chips. Cracks, or repairs that I can find. The part that holds the bottom of the glass bowl looks to be a little oblong but the bowl fits perfectly and this does not show when displayed. A tiny separation in the stand where it was solder together when made. Could be fixed by a silversmith but it's such a minor thing I would leave it alone. May be the way it came from the company. The silverplate holder is marked Crescent Silver Co. on the bottom. The beautiful glass bowl is ruffled and shows no scratches. Probably a display piece only for many years. Nice open work flower or rose petal basket for a Victorian wedding. Made of silver plate 12" tall by 11" wide by 7 1/2" deep. Perfect size for a table arrangement or to carry down the isle. Stamped Meriden International 306 on bottom. Has not been cleaned. Three tiny pencil point marks hardly noticeable dents in lower section. Other marks in picture are from needing to be polished. Holds water for fresh flowers up to the cut outs. Light enough for a two year old to carry down the isle.

Shabby vintage victorian brides wedding flower basket vase
Shabby off-white Victorian vintage flower basket. I believe this was silver/silver plated and is painted now. It does have a mark on the bottom but I cannot read it. It is in wonderful condition with filigree all around the basket top and open weaving on the basket. The handle appears a little bent but I will leave this to the buyer to remedy. Measures 13.5" tall and 11" at the widest point of the handle and 9" at the widest point of the basket. How pretty with pink roses! This is a brides wedding basket made of silver plate. Made by Rogers and Smith New Haven Connecticut between 1865-1873. It is 12.5 inches long and 8.5 inches wide. It is 3 1/2 inches tall. The handle is 8 1/2 inches tall. It is a beautiful piece even though it has some worn spots inside the basket. It is stamped with the numbers 4567 and I can find no reference to these numbers.
