The glass bowl is one of the nicest that I have seen. It has fabulous Enamel Decorations, of leaves and floral detailing. It measures approx 12-1/2" diameter. It is in Excellent Condition- I would call it perfect albeit a most minor flat spot on the rim that appears to be a manufacturing nuance, not damage. I have looked at this with a magnifying glass and it is obvious after observing this first hand that it is not a chip but a flat spot somehow done during manufacture. Although extremely difficult to view, I have a pic of the area shown in my last pic. The frame is in Excellent Condition. Made of Quadruple Silver Plate by the Wilcox Silver-Plate Co. It stands approx 10-3/4" tall and approx 12-3/4" across. Both the decorated bowl and the Silver-Plate frame are gorgeous. The item comes direct from the collection of an area advance collector. Sold to me when settling her estate. The underside of the bowl bears a sticker that either she attached or was the sale price back in the day. The glass bowl will be packaged and shipped in a separate parcel from the silver plate frame in order to assure as best one can safe delivery. This listing is for a two piece silverplate and glass brides basket bowl. The bottom of the silver plated holder reads Meriden Silverplate Co. 0719. As seen in the pictures. This piece stands about 7 1/2" high to the top of the glass bowl portion and measures 10 1/4" across the top rim. The silverplate holder is very ornate, with the handles resembling a branch with birds resting on them. A bird pattern is also repeated just above the basefoot. The peg bottom glass bowl has a scalloped rim and a frosted flower(rose? and ribbon pattern. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. There are a few white specks in the glass that are ... moreas made. The Derby Silver Company was founded in 1872. And began operations on Shelton's Canal Street one year later. The company soon outgrew its quarters and constructed a larger building, which still stands on Bridge Street, Shelton, in 1877 near the Housatonic River, overlooking Derby. A number of additions were added in subsequent years. The original Canal Street building was razed when the railroad was built through Shelton in 1888. The company made toilet articles. Mirrors, combs, clocks, brushes, table and flatware, tea sets, children's cups, loving cups(trophies) candlesticks, fruit baskets, dishes, basically anything which was plated by or made of silver. 19th Century Victorian Brides' Basket. Marked James W. Tufts Boston Warranted, Quadruple Plate, with a mark 128 and a 6. There is an etched number of 25725 as well. This is a very fancy stand with elaborate decoration. The bowl is 10 1/2” Diameter in a light mauve color with ruffled and corrugated rim and very skillfully hand-painted in a floral pattern. There are two innocuous hairline cracks in the clear inside casing only. The white outside casing is unaffected(see red dots) Otherwise the Brides' Basket is in Excellent Condition with the silver plate and the metal unflawed. This is a fantastic silver plated huge bride's basket. There is no makers mark. It has floral engraving within the basket and raised thick art nouveau trim around the bowl and handle. The bale is attached with fine quality tube and pin method. It has a pedestal base. There are two areas where the plating is worn. See photos, and two other small spots. There is one scratch. The outside is almost perfect, overall is so beautiful the flaws don't interfere. Beautiful Victorian antique brides basket. Silverplate frame with lovely aesthetic scrolling pattern on the sides and handle. Beaded edgeing. The art glass insert is milk glass with shades of purple on the ruffled border and clear glass edging. The silverplate is monogrammed- looks like G and HW and dated 1899. Made in Canada by the Toronto Silverplate Co. The basket measures 10 1/4" across the handle and 12 1/2" high. Very good condition with no chips or cracks. Antique Van Bergh Silver Plate Cake Brides Basket C.1900 For your consideration is this antique silver plate cake brides basket made by Van Bergh Silver Plate Co. Circa 1900. Stands 9 1/4" tall to the top of the finial and measures 8 1/2" in diameter.the base is 4 1/2" in diameter. The top surface features both a shiny and burnished(non shiny) finish, very common in Victorian silver plate. The underside of the basket is shiny and the pedestal base is burnished. There is light silver loss present on the underside, but the burnished base is worn or it needs a bit more polishing. The basket has a slight tilt, 2 shallow pinpoint dings on the top surface and a dent on the top edge which doesn't show too much, see last picture. This is a beautiful Silver Plated Brides Basket/ Fruit Basket. There is an impressed stamp on the bottom which reads: Pairpoint Mfg. Co. New Bedford, Mass, Quadruple Plate, Pat. Jan. 31, 1893 and number 1249. This item is 120 years old. A lot of embossing on this basket. Looks like a branch with apples on the inside bottom which are raised on the inside and punched in on the underneath. Branches, leaves and apples make up the handle which is hinged. 4 feet on which to stand with a gallery above the feet. Looks like the four corners which are indented in have an engraved design on them. This Basket is in excellent condition showing no wear on the silver. This one definitely tugs at my heart strings. I purchased the frame about 12 years ago it's been sitting here waiting for a bowl. And let me tell you finding a mate for this is not easy! This is about as good as it gets! The Figuaral Silverplate Basket has been resilvered with the normal scratch marks on the base for the silverplater ~ the frame stands almost 14" tall. Measures 10-1/2 wide at its widest point with an inside opening of 9-1/2" It has a raised base that measures about 4-3/4" There are for elaborately decorated feet, and the base is adorned with flowers and leaves. The handle has trailing ... moreflowers and vines and two CHERUBS holding a ball with a heavy twisted handle. The Rubina Bowl is heavily acid etched with flowers. The bowl measures 9" across and stands3-1/2" tall with optic lines and a nicely ground pontil. The bowl has no chips, cracks or repairs. When I tell you its beautiful it does not describe it! Now read the fine print ~ I put this together(all sets are put together since most silver manufacturers& glass houses did not cross over so they purchased frames from catalogs, jewelry stores or directly from the manufactures and they were early marriages. Antique Rogers& Bros. Silver Plate Cake Brides Basket C.1874 Cherubs Small darkened area. Lacquer residue. Lacquer residue. For your consideration is this spectacular silver plate cake brides basket made by Rogers& Bros. Circa 1874. This impressive basket stands a whopping 16" tall to the top of the handle and measures 10" square. The design elements are amazing, with rounded shell shaped corners, ornate etching and a raised center circle with a house and mountain motif. The pedestal base is just beautiful with back to back cherubs on a heart shape frame and a bottom floral band. There are no dings/dents or noticeable silver loss other than a few spots on the underside, but they do not show. The basket was once protected with a lacquer coat, however, there are just some orange/brown traces left in a few spots, see last 2 ... morepictures. A bit more polishing should remove it. The only issue to mention is if you pull the handle on 1 side it will come completely out, otherwise left alone, it does stay in place and works well. This auction is a wonderful James Tufts of Boston Silver Plated Brides Basket with a Victorian Blue Opalescent Swirl Maize Basket. The bowl measures 10" by almost 7" deep. It is free of chips. Cracks or repairs and its a rich deep blue. The frame measures approximately 12" tall with a width of 10.75" The opening would accommodate a bowl of 3.25- 3-3/8" maximum. The condition of the plate appears to be very good, though I have not polished this at all. I don't see any real loss of silver and no pitting or flaking either. The design if very detailed as Tufts was one of the finer makers of these types of fancy goods. There is one small solder joint where the floral garland that attaches to the handle itself has come loose over the years, though it's not apparent in the pictures and barely noticeable. Measures 7 1/2 inches long. 7 inches wide and 10 inches tall overall. The plateau for the bowl measures 6 3/4 by 3 1/2. Condition is good as there are NO broken. Missing or repaired parts present. Flowers and leaves decorate the top of the handle and down the sides, while leaves and dragonflies decorate the base. The Bowl which is a Lucius Cranberry Satin tightly ruffled bowl decorated in purple with white forget me knots the bowl measures 10-1/2" across and is in wonderful condition. One of the prettiest bowls I've seen in a while. The total height is 13" tall and is truly an elegant piece. The condition of the frame the silver appears to be in good condition with minimal plate loss. The bowl had been weighted on the bottom with plaster of paris and green felt was placed over it. The top of the holder has some age pitting but its only in the holder portion which is covered by the bowl. This is an incredible piece, so much prettier in person. Silver plate brides basket or perhaps a calling card holder. Piece has sort of bright cut floral pattern. I have included a photo of the Meriden mark. Piece measures about 6&1/2 inches wide at widest and stands about 4 inches tall. Piece is in very good used condition. There are a few dents and some slight scratches but overall pretty good. c1893 Victorian Art Nouveau Flowers Poppies Brides Basket Silver Quadruple Plate
This listing is for a lovely romantic art nouveau brides basket that is a harder to find company. It was made by Queen City Silver Co. out of Cincinnati Ohio. Numbers on bottom indicate it was made in 1893. It is in excellent condition for age with no dents and just a couple minor small spots of plate loss on relief areas of flowers that just looks like reflection so you don't notice it. The very edge handle have a couple small spots of plate loss as well. But not enough to detract from the piece or grab your attention and I only therefore mention for accuracy. The art nouveau lines are lovely and the handle is just as decorative as the basket. It measures 8 3/4" high to top of handle that will stay in place in upright position-not too loose or tight-just right. Bowl area is 10" across. This brides basket is incredible and beautiful! PLEASE LOOK AT ALL 12 PICTURES)The basket sits on four rounded feet that are decorated with scrolls. Flowers and tiny leaves. Above that is a 1/4 inch band of scrolling work going all the way around. The mane band of the body has large campus leaves some round leaves, large flowers, small flowers and vines. Then there is another 1/4 inch band of scrolling work. The band that holds the glass bowl has a deep stripe pattern all the way around. The C shape connectors that connect the handle to the basket has flowers inside and out and round balls that connect it to the basket ring.The handle is a twisted handle. This silverplate basket has so much going on. It was made by Meriden, and marked on the bottom with an applied piece of silverplate Meriden silver plate Co. No 7017 and a lion holding a ... moretrophy in the middle, this mark dates it to(1869. There is no silver plate missing and no broken metal. This piece was sealed years ago to keep it from turning black, it can be removed by soaking in hot water over night then peal off. The glass fluted bowl was made by L.G.WRIGHT IN 1937. And it is marked with a M with a line in a circle.L.G. Wright Glass Company of New Martinsville, West Virginia, started selling glassware in 1937. Founder"Si" Wright contracted with Ohio and West Virginia glass factories to make popular pressed glass patterns, like Rose& Snow, Baltimore Pear, and Three Face, and opalescent patterns, like Daisy& Fern and Swirl. L.G. Wright items are marked with an underlined W in a circle. The bowl is a daisy and fern pattern it is opalescent and very ice blue. The glass is bright and the pattern is clear. Its original Wright glass! There are no chips, or breaks to this wonderful glass bowl.The glass bowl is 10 inch diameter by 3 deep. The bowl is etched with a lovely bunch of flowers held together with a bow and a butterfly floats above. The outside of the basket is embossed with cherubs. There is no loss of silver on this piece, in excellent condition, especially for its age. I believe this was made around 1910. Antique Art Nouveau Aesthetic Wilcox Water Lily Silver Plate Brides Basket
A beautiful brides basket from American Silver Plated brides basket or bread basket from the turn of the century. Quadruple silver plate with embossed water lilies in the base of the basket. Handled and claw footed. Lovely scalloped embossed edging to both the bowl and the base. Measures 9.25" in diameter and stands 2.75" tall without the handle up. The condition is excellent for age I would say. There a couple spots of pitting in the raised embossed water lilies. She needs an additional and more detailed cleaning but she sure looks great. The claw feet are not flush with the table but it does not affect the stability of the piece. Does NOT wobble on the table. Please see photos as they are the best description I can give. The design has birds, berries, flowers& leaves. It has four metal, openwork, feet and applied openwork design on each side of the handle. The handle is twisted on each side and then straight at the top. There is a mark underneath of two circles and all I can make out is" MERIDEN" and" QUADRUPLE" This holder measures approximately 9 1/2" to the top of the handle x 13" across the handle. The holder for the basket measures approximately 7 5/8" inside diameter at the top and 6 1/2" opening on the inside bottom. It is in good condition but the silverplate is worn from age and use. The decoration, at the base of ... morethe handle, has one spot(on one side) that should be connected and isn't. I think it was done when it was made because it is very tight. The base seems to have a slight slope to it but it is the same on both sides and it looks like it was made that way. Engraved with flowers and palmate leaves on the top with 2 inset picture panels showing what appears to be Mt Fuji. The volcano in Japan- with trees and flowers. The skirt has raised panels showing love birds and flowers in low bowl vases. The foot is also decorated with the bird and flower panels to match the skirt. Pierced work on the handle. The Basket also features amazing pierced Shell designs all arounf and a lovely Beaded Bail Handle which yes stays up on it's own for display. The Glass Insert is the original. It fits like a glove and is a rich deep shade of Red Cranberry Glass. The Basket overall is in amazing all original condition with little signs of wear and certainly no cracks, dents or repairs to the frame and no chips, cracks or repairs to the glass bowl. The Basket makes for a beautiful display and is a nice practical size for modern use measuring 7" tall to the top of the bail handle by 8-1/4" wide or 2-1/2" tall at the edge with the bowl measuring 1-1/2" deep. The Serving Bowl is the only example I have had the pleasure to sell with a Blue Opaline Glass insert. In many years and I am sure is quite a Rare find indeed. The Basket Frame features very nice Grape and Vine designs with fancy feet and a lovely Bead pattern Bail Handle, which yes stays up on it's own for display. The Blue Opaline Glass Liner is the original to the frame and fits like a glove. The Outside is Satin Glass and the interior is glossy. The Basket is overall in very fine all original condition with a couple tiny splits in the frame which I am sure could easily be re-soldered and no dents or bends with the Glass Bowl showing wear scratches to the interior and some remnants of painted designs on the outside but no chips, cracks or repairs. The Basket makes for a beautiful display and is a nice practical size for modern use measuring 7" tall to the top of the bail handle by 8-1/4" wide or 2-1/4" tall at the edge with the bowl measuring 1-1/2" deep. Available a beautiful Vintage quadruple plated Homan Bride pedestal basket with lid.I am told it is a butter dish. It has an anchor and company name plus the number 565 stamped and the number 155 hand etched on the bottom. There are two small faucets on the underside of the front lip on the lower front lip. I don't know what there significance is? It Stands 11" tall and 9" wide. weight is 1lb 6oz. The patina is original and exquisite. Great Bride's basket or dish. Great silver collectors piece. This large brides basket is incredible and beautiful! PLEASE LOOK AT ALL PICTURES) The basket sits on four rounded feet that are decorated with scrolls. Flowers and tiny leaves. Above that is a 1/4 inch band of scrolling work going all the way around. The main band of the body has large campus leaves,some round leaves, large flowers, small flowers and vines. Then there is another 1/4 inch band of scrolling work. The band that holds the glass bowl has a deep stripe pattern all the way around. The C shape connectors that connect the handle to the basket has flowers inside and out and round balls that connect it to the basket ring.The handle is a twisted handle. This silver plate basket has so much going on. It was made by Meriden, and marked on the bottom with an applied piece of silver plate Meriden silver plate Co. No 7017 and a lion holding ... morea trophy in the middle, this mark dates it to(1869. There is no silver plate missing and no broken metal. This piece was sealed years ago to keep it from turning black, it can be removed by soaking in hot water over night then peal off. The glass fluted bowl was made by L.G.WRIGHT, And it is marked with a M with a line in a circle.L.G. Wright Glass Company of New Martinsville, West Virginia. Founder"Si" Wright contracted with Ohio and West Virginia glass factories to reproduce popular pressed glass patterns, like Rose& Snow, Baltimore Pear, and Three Face, and opalescent patterns, like Daisy& Fern and Swirl. L.G. Wright items are marked with an underlined W in a circle. The bowl is a daisy and fern pattern it is opalescent ice blue. The glass is bright and the pattern is clear. Its original Wright glass! There are no chips, or breaks to this wonderful glass bowl.The glass bowl is 10 inch diameter by 3 deep. The silver plate basket is 10 1/2 wide by 11 1/2 tall, the inside open circle is 4 1/2 diameter. This is a wonderful piece of history for Meriden as well as L.G. WRIGHT.
