It is in shabby chic condition with plate loss and scratches from loving use over the last 100 years or so. We found this history on the Derby Historical Organization's site online(great site! The Derby Silver Company was founded in 1872. And began operations on Shelton's Canal Street one year later. The company soon outgrew its quarters and constructed a larger building, which still stands on Bridge Street, Shelton, in 1877 near the Housatonic River, overlooking Derby. A number of additions were added in subsequent years. The original Canal Street building was razed when the railroad was built through Shelton in 1888. The company made toilet articles. Mirrors, combs, clocks, brushes, table and flatware, tea sets, children's cups, loving cups(trophies) candlesticks, fruit baskets, dishes, basically anything which was plated by or made of silver. This is a beautiful Silver Plated Brides Basket/ Fruit Basket. There is an impressed stamp on the bottom which reads: Pairpoint Mfg. Co. New Bedford, Mass, Quadruple Plate, Pat. Jan. 31, 1893 and number 1249. This item is 120 years old. A lot of embossing on this basket. Looks like a branch with apples on the inside bottom which are raised on the inside and punched in on the underneath. Branches, leaves and apples make up the handle which is hinged. 4 feet on which to stand with a gallery above the feet. Looks like the four corners which are indented in have an engraved design on them. This Basket is in excellent condition showing no wear on the silver. It looks like it was not cleaned ... morefor some time as it is tarnished and the pictures will probably show up dark on the computer. I am leaving it as it is for the new owners to clean themselves. It measures 10 1/4 inches long, 8 1/2 inches wide and stands 3 inches high, 8 inches high with the handle up. This listing is for a lovely romantic art nouveau brides basket that is a harder to find company. It was made by Queen City Silver Co. out of Cincinnati Ohio. Numbers on bottom indicate it was made in 1893. It is in excellent condition for age with no dents and just a couple minor small spots of plate loss on relief areas of flowers that just looks like reflection so you don't notice it. The very edge handle have a couple small spots of plate loss as well. But not enough to detract from the piece or grab your attention and I only therefore mention for accuracy. The art nouveau lines are lovely and the handle is just as decorative as the basket. This beautiful plate(or basket) is etched with a floral rose design. This style plate on a pedestal has been referred to as a Wedding Plate. Handled Brides Basket, Bridal Basket, Cake Basket, Calling Card Tray and a Brides Calling Card Basket. The mark on the bottom is a full circle and reads: Quadruple Plate, Wilcox Silverplate Co, Meriden, Conn and the#2772(I believe, the# is difficult to read) It measures approx 9" wide at the top, the plate is 5" tall, 11.5" to the top of the handle and 5.25" across the bottom of the base. The Wilcox Silver Plate Co. started in 1867. The company trademark(crossed hammers in full circle) remained in use through the acquisition of Parker& Casper Co. in 1869 and the formation of the International Silver Co. in 1898. Beautiful etched flowers- Measures 9.5 inches in diameter and is 3.5 inches high- 9 inches high with handle. Warm patina- not bright silver like it was originally- more of a dark silver now. I have a few estates I am handling this summer. Absolutely Stunning Pairpoint Bride's Basket Quadruple Plate#B1210. Dimensions are: 11.5" in length. 7" wide and 3 inches high. Excellent condition. Lightly polished so I could determine condition. There is no loss of silver on this piece, in excellent condition, especially for its age. I believe this was made around 1910. There is one scratch on the inside but due to the quality of the quadruple silver plate, it does not go through to the base metal, see picture 10. Marked on the bottom, Pairpoint mfg. B1210 Quadruple Plate and the Pairpoint logo. About as nice an example of a Pairpoint Bride's Basket that I have seen. Displays beautifully! I usually ship next day. This is really a lovely old antique quadruple plate silver bride's basket. It was manufactured by the Pairpoint Mfg. Co. of New Bedford. I really love the beautiful designs that goes around the rim of the piece as well as inside of the basket-inside the basket there is a floral design. There is a lovely swing handle that has an ornate top. There are four ornamental style of feet that adds to the look. The silver finish has worn off from time over the years. It is approx. 9 1/2" tall from top of handle to bottom. It is approx. 10" across.

It has an anchor and company name plus the number 565 stamped and the number 155 hand etched on the bottom. There are two small faucets on the underside of the front lip on the lower front lip. This basket stands 10 inches tall to the top of the handle, 3.25 inches tall to the rim, 11.5 measuring left to right and 9.25 across out side of handles. The embossed apple design is beautiful with excellent patina detailing the outline of the design. This would be a fantastic fruit bowl. There are no monograms or visible repairs. This vintage basket has very detailed and ornate designs on the outer edge and base of the pedestal base. There is also an etched cut design of flowers on the top surface/plate. The designs that repeat along the edges include birds. Leaves, mountains, floral scenes and butterflies. Inside the top plate there are etched flowers with stems that repeat throughout. After some research the makers mark on this dates from 1881-1893. There are signs of age to include tarnished areas and some scuffs/scratches and I am leaving it as is for the buyer to either polish or leave the aged patina look. This has a recessed center on the top plate. The top outer rim has some slight bends in it which are visible, approx. 3 slight twists or misshapen areas which I tried to show in my photos. Victorian Brides Basket Silverplate Quadruple Plate Clear-Cased Peach Glass Bowl
For sale is a beautiful brides basket bowl sitting in an ornate handled quadruple silver plated stand. The fluted bowl is a gorgeous peach color all over except for a clear cased upper edge; there may be a peach case on top of the clear case or it's an optical illusion. I can't tell which. It's in excellent antique condition: No chips, breaks, cracks, or repairs. I do see bubbles and a couple of minute rough spots in the glass, all part of having been manufactured over a hundred years ago; there are scratches in the glass, but because I can not feel them, I think they might literally be IN the glass. The bowl is unmarked and has a smoothe pontil with one rough spot. It measures 8 1/2" across the top, 3 1/2" tall, and 3 7/8" across the base/foot. The stand is incredibly ornate with ribbed handles that form a knot ... moreat the top and have one strawberry and three sets of three leaves on each side. The handles connect in four places to a 6 3/4" round base base with a 4" diameter hole that receives the base of the bowl. The base has a ribbed bottom lip and four ornate feet. The stand is 12" at its widest and 10 1/2" tall. The base is marked, but unfortunately it is only a partial mark: Top. or Tor. Company Quadruple Plate 2 10. It is tarnished, but I believe most of the silverplate is present; it should polish up nicely. There are some scratches inside the basket where the bowl sits, but the stand is in otherwise excellent conditon. This will make a nice addition to your collection. I believe the designed element on the top of the handle as well as the decorative handle mounts on the edge of the basket are made of pewter. Basket could use good polishing. To really make it"pop" There is an area on the rim of the basket(approx 1/2 inch long) where I believe the plating may be worn away(see pic 10) which may or may not become more noticable if the piece is polished. This beautiful basket features elaborately detailed designs popular in the Victorian era. Very sturdy with four feet and a fold down handle. This makes a beautiful centerpiece. Or on a buffet table. Fill it with pastel Easter eggs. Brightly colored Christmas balls, or flowers. Heavily patinaed with discoloration to the quadruple plate. This is a beautiful Silver Plated Brides Basket/ Fruit Basket. There is an impressed stamp on the bottom which reads: Pairpoint Mfg. Co. New Bedford, Mass, Quadruple Plate, Pat. Jan. 31, 1893 and number 1249. This item is 120 years old. A lot of embossing on this basket. Looks like a branch with apples on the inside bottom which are raised on the inside and punched in on the underneath. Branches, leaves and apples make up the handle which is hinged. 4 feet on which to stand with a gallery above the feet. Looks like the four corners which are indented in have an engraved design on them. This Basket is in excellent condition showing no wear on the silver. It looks like it was not cleaned for it is tarnished and the pictures will probably show up dark on the computer. I am leaving it as it is for the new owners to clean themselves. Great Aunt Euphania picked this up at a thrift store. She thought surely she had a bowl to fit but after trying a few different ones gave up looking so up on ebay it goes. This is a nice old piece. The bottom is hallmarked"Quadruple Plate Oneida, Silver Mfg. Co" in a circle. We have family in Oneida and always visit the antique places in the Central New York area but it's not common to find a piece like this marked Oneida. We would date it to probably around 1900 give or take 10 years but we are not experts. We have handled a lot of silver over the years and although we do like to polish flatware pieces such as this one are best left as they are. There is wear to the silverplating(quadruple plate does not mean 4 layers of silver, it means the last layer of plate was silver) You can tell this has been polished before but we don't ... moreknow that it would look any better and might look not quite as good so we are leaving the patina as-is. The frame is a good size so it would hold a nice sized bowl or do what auntie suggest which is to re-purpose older pieces, she would buy some of that green foam for the base and put silk flowers in it. The whole frame is about 13 1/2" high and 9" across, the height for the inner circle area is about 9" to 9 1/2" It has an American Aesthetic look to it with the flowers in a vase on each side. There is nice scroll work around the rim. The base is about 4 1/4" across. Weighs less than one pound but will require a big box to ship. Buyer pays shipping. Payment due within 3 days of sale end. For sale is an ornate Victorian Pairpoint quadruple silver plated bride's basket with an exquisite ruffled ribbed-glass bowl. The pink glass is ribbed on the underside of the ruffle and is smooth white glass from the sides down to the center. This unmarked bowl measures 10 1/2" across at its widest. 3 1/8" at its tallest, and 3 7/8" across the foot, which has a ground, indented pontil. It is in excellent antique condition: No cracks, breaks, chips, or repairs; just some bubbles, pimples, and a couple of small slightly rough areas where the glass is ribbed, all signs of having been manufactured more than a hundred years ago. Circa 1866 Victorian Simpson Hall Miller Silver Quadruple Plate Brides Basket Description. Circa 1866 Victorian Era silver quadruple plate brides basket by Simpson Hall& Miller Co. Wallingford, Ct. USA. Heavily engraved floral and geometric patterns including birds, a butterfly, cattails and wildflowers. Square footed base with raised ends making it rectangular in shape. One side of the swing handle needs soldering. When positioned properly the handle will remain standing but should be repaired. It looks like an easy fix. Large embossed flowers are applied on both sides. It is not dented and stands nicely. It weighs 5.6 pounds. 11" L. x 7" w. x 7" h. I've left the natural patina and not polished it. This one was with a group of other quadruple silver plate items. The material that it's made of is very soft and flexible. Bends very easily. The numbers on the bottom have been rubbed away. Antique Victorian Hartford Quadruple Silverplate Brides Basket Frame. Measures 11 1/2" tall to the top of the handle X 8 1/2" widest. The center hole for the glass bowl measures 4" diam and the cradle between the hoops at the base measures 5 1/4" up to 8 1/4" between the upper hoops. Marked on the bottom rim: Hartford Silver Plate Co. Quadruple Plate 987. Victorian Silver metal frame with four ball feet and a wide hoop handle. The top of the frame is scrolled with a Flower and Leaf pattern. The sides of the base have large clusters of Flowers and Leaves on each side. The round bottom is paneled with a thin rim that holds the foot of the bowl. This is in Nice Condition with No dings. Dents or splits. Could it have been to hold the cream pitcher and sugar bowl of a tea set. or possibly to hold condiments or cruets. maybe it was created as just a decorative piece. I received this from someone along with the Meriden silver tea set that I also have listed. These pieces had been in their family for four generations. However, since this had a different manufacturer from the tea set, I decided to list it separately. Use it or display it however you want- it is a very ornate piece! It is etched or engraved inside with a floral and leaf design on both ends. Osborn& Co. was only known to be in business for a brief period of time from 1892 to 1897. I did not try to polish or clean it. The Aesthetic Era of the 19th Century produced exquisite silver objects. Some of them among the most beautiful silver pieces ever made. These pieces have become highly prized by collectors- both sterling and silverplate items. Antique silverplate from this era is most commonly marked"Quadruple Plate. This means there are four layers of silverplate on the piece. Quadruple silverplate was some of the highest quality made during the later part of the 19th Century. James Tufts floral paisley fan brides basket #2763 quadruple silver plate Boston
For auction is an unusual silver-plated metal"bride's basket" by the James W. Tufts company of Boston. Massachussetts. It is square-shaped with rounded corners, and has what looks to me like a floral or paisley fan scrolled engraved design on top and a"screen" pattern on the underside. It measures 8 7/16 inches each side and is about 8 1/2 inches high; with the handle at full height it is about 10 inches high. The maker's mark on the bottom indicates it is quadruple plated and warranted. I don't know much about it, I am selling this for a neighbor who told me it was in his house when he bought it.Could be very old(some JW Tufts pieces date to the 19th century) but I do not know for sure. It has some plate loss on one side of the basket and on the handle as well so condition is not perfect, but typical of something ... morereally old. This is a beautiful small QUADRUPLE SILVERPLATE BRIDES BASKET. I have been collecting quadruple silverplate for 10 years and I have never seen a small basket like this one. The basket is made by COLONIAL SILVER COMPANY and is marked with the maker and Quadruple Plate 1135. The size of the basket is 6 1/2" tall with the diameter being 7" at the widest point. The basket is 6 1/2" around. This basket is in MINT CONDITION.no cracks or breaks. I think that this piece may have been a SALESMAN SAMPLE. This company closed it's door in the late 1800's so we have a true antique. I do ship internationally. I expect payment within 3 days of the end of the auction. VICTORIAN QUADRUPLE PLATE DERBY AESTHETIC EASTLAKE CENTERPIECE BRIDES BASKET Search Up for auction is a Victorian centerpiece basket or brides basket by Derby Silver Plate Company in Quadruple Plate. The basket stands 11 inches tall to th top of the handle. 5 inches tall to the rim and 8.5 inches wide. The basket features an East-lake, Japanese influence design in the center of fans, bamboo shoots and birds. The silver plate is in good condition as shown in the pictures. There are no monograms, repairs or dents. The handle is complete with no breaks in the welds and stands up as it should or lowered to the rim. We will combine shipping when ever possible. Please remember that our items are mostly Victorian and always used. Never new or in new condition. They have sat on many tables, held by many loving hands and lived an eventful life. They ... moremay have flaws which is part of the character of each individual Victorian or vintage item.
