The basket stands about 2 inches tall to the rim and 8.5 inches tall to the top of the handle and 12.5 inches wide measuring corner to corner. The design is fantastic featuring the butler finish on the center of the bowl giving it a softer silver plate finish and embossed roses and etching with a wide scroll border. Welcome. While cleaning& organizing, I came across this beautiful Victorian brides cake basket in silverplate by the Barbour silver co. This one is a scalloped oval shape with a bright cut design inside& lots of ornate features, especially the handle& the footed base. It measures 8 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 3 3/8" tall(without the handle up) About 10" tall with the handle up but it doesn't stay up very well. It's a little tarnished but I don't see any loss of the silver plating on it. It weighs right at 2 lbs. without the packaging. It will be sent insured.

Antique Rogers& Bros. Silver Plate Cake Brides Basket C.1874 Cherubs Small darkened area. Lacquer residue. Lacquer residue. For your consideration is this spectacular silver plate cake brides basket made by Rogers& Bros. Circa 1874. This impressive basket stands a whopping 16" tall to the top of the handle and measures 10" square. The design elements are amazing, with rounded shell shaped corners, ornate etching and a raised center circle with a house and mountain motif. The pedestal base is just beautiful with back to back cherubs on a heart shape frame and a bottom floral band. There are no dings/dents or noticeable silver loss other than a few spots on the underside, but they do not show. The basket was once protected with a lacquer coat, however, there are just some orange/brown traces left in a few spots, see last 2 ... morepictures. A bit more polishing should remove it. The only issue to mention is if you pull the handle on 1 side it will come completely out, otherwise left alone, it does stay in place and works well. Antique Van Bergh Silver Plate Cake Brides Basket C.1900 For your consideration is this antique silver plate cake brides basket made by Van Bergh Silver Plate Co. Circa 1900. Stands 9 1/4" tall to the top of the finial and measures 8 1/2" in diameter.the base is 4 1/2" in diameter. The top surface features both a shiny and burnished(non shiny) finish, very common in Victorian silver plate. The underside of the basket is shiny and the pedestal base is burnished. There is light silver loss present on the underside, but the burnished base is worn or it needs a bit more polishing. The basket has a slight tilt, 2 shallow pinpoint dings on the top surface and a dent on the top edge which doesn't show too much, see last picture. There are no monograms or dents. The basket features the traditional silver plate finish and the"Butler Finish" a softer silver plate finish used to replicate years of polishing by a butler. Together they creating a striking design. The top of the basket is supported by a ladies hand with detailed graceful fingers. There may be a ring on the middle finger or it could be a repair but it looks more like a ring so please take a close look. The handle features a calla lily with butterfly and the design is repeated on either side of the basket.There is a repair to the base as shown in picture 2 and a close up in one of the other pictures. This fine antique Aesthetic Victorian circa 1870s pedestal footed cake or brides basket by Rogers& Bro. of Waterbury, CT. This silverplate basket is ornately decorated on the inside of the basket with gorgeous chased Hummingbirds among the beautiful meadow flowers. The center of the basket has a village scene on one half of the medallion and a lovely swallow type bird on the other half. The rim is also very ornately adorned with squirrels, birds, beetles, butterflies, mice and bees with many flowers. I have loaded many photos as part of the description and to show the detail. The basket measures 8 1/4" in diameter and stands 4" off the table not including the ornate folding handle. ... moreIt is about 9" tall with the hinged handle raised. I lightly polished this basket and there is some minor silver loss to the very bottom that does not show. There is also a very tiny ding to the rim on both sides where the handle has dropped from use on each side. All and all this cake basket is in very nice well cared for estate condition and the silver craftsmanship is exquisite. The bottom is marked with the makers mark for Roger& Bro. This firm was established in 1858 at Waterbury, CT. by Asa Jr. and Simeon Rogers. They first produced primarily flatware until 1874 and then began producing some of the best and most ornate hollowware such as this basket. They were one of the first firms to join the International Silver Company in 1898. This would make a fabulous center fruit bowl or can be used as intended back 140 years ago to serve pastries and cakes. Please view photos to further aid in description. This is a fantastic antique silver-plated cake or bride's basket. In very good vintage condition but needs a good cleaning. Sits flat. Has a swing handle. Gnurled edges at bowl and base. Interior is decorated in relief with birds perched in trees. Bowl is attached to pedestal base by three figural winged heads. Stretching down to curled leaves attached to the base along with a center spire. Top of base is decorated with leaves. there are 2 spots which look like had labels there. This is a beautiful. Vintage antique cake stand. Would be perfect for many uses. Measures 9 3/4" diameter across top, 5 1/4" base,7 1/4 tall, not including handle.stamp on bottom: middleton Plate Co,quadruple plate. has chasing in the bowl,flowers around the rim,and good solid handle with cutwork. Pedestal cake basket with repoussé scroll work on the edge of the basket. The center of the basket has a design of cherubs/cupids pulling wagons filled with flowers. The cherubs have floral wreaths on their heads with butterflies flying above the wagons. These repeat 4 times around a central well. The handle is curled with a bead central handle. Most of the silverplate has worn off the handle. It has the number 6722 imprinted on the bottom

Fresh from a recent New England estate find: this Is a nice Victorian looking silver plate basket/tray with fold down handle. Measures 9" across. There are no hallmarks noted or found. Left in raw. As found condition. The bowl portion appears to maybe have a slight bend in it but this may be an intentional design? We are not sure. Sold as is please refer to photos for condition.
