The basket was made by Wilcox Silverplate Co. And it is made of Quadruple Silverplate in Meriden, Conn. Wilcox started making silverplate items in 1865, and they continued until they joined with Internation Silver in 1898. The basket has a scalloped edge, and around that edge is a scroll, rose, and leaf pattern. In the center of the basket is an ornately etched bird nest, and the top of the handle is monogrammed CMB. The basket has a four-footed base, and each leg has a Art Nouveau motif floral pattern. The model# 4751 basket measures 10 1/4" wide by 9 1/2" long by 5 1/2" tall. The basket is exquisite, it has an entire ruffled collar all around the basket.At the top of the ruffle where it attaches to the basket it has a very tight zipper like print into the silver plate.The inside of the basket has flowers, and leaves and vines all wheel cut in to the metal. It has four pierced feet with much decoration, berries and what looks like tiny oak leaves and at the top of each foot it looks like a half of a campus leaf. This is a gorgeous antique Victorian bride's basket compote bowl.the quadruple silverplate stand. Designed in the nature of the 1800's Aesthetic Movement, was made by the Meriden Britannia Company and it is signed, Meriden B. Company" on the bottom edge along with a number 241. The Early American Pressed Glass bowl that must have been designed for this stand precisely(or the stand for the bowl) is a clear glass, rounded canted straight sides with indentations on four sides.which line up with the indentations in the base of the stand. I do not know who the maker of the bowl was and the design appears to be some variation of a waffle or cane pattern with a waffle bottom. It measures between 9 1/2" 9 3/4" across the top and is 2 5/8" deep. When setting in the stand it is about 6" tall.overall height of the stand(to ... morethe top of each ornate side handle) is 7 1/4" the length from handle to handle is about 14 1/2" The stand sits on four feet and the embossed design is very ornate, comprised of flowers, foliage and birds.
