This 19th century basket is very fancy, but of course it is a Tufts piece and they are always fancy.The figures are a beautiful lady being kissed on the check by a winged cherub. There are huge flowers& fruit all around the figures and the detail is of the best we have seen. Even the hinged handle has tiny birds on each side of the hinge. The basket is Marked on the bottom with the Tufts circle mark. The basket measures 10" with the handle standing. It is 11 1/2" in dia. This basket is in excellant condition with only slight wear to the silver in some spots. It is over 130 years old so it does have old tarnish& surface scratching due to its antiquity. This is a very fancy stand with elaborate decoration. The bowl is 10 1/2” Diameter in a light mauve color with ruffled and corrugated rim and very skillfully hand-painted in a floral pattern. There are two innocuous hairline cracks in the clear inside casing only. This auction is a wonderful James Tufts of Boston Silver Plated Brides Basket with a Victorian Blue Opalescent Swirl Maize Basket. The bowl measures 10" by almost 7" deep. It is free of chips. Cracks or repairs and its a rich deep blue. The frame measures approximately 12" tall with a width of 10.75" The opening would accommodate a bowl of 3.25- 3-3/8" maximum. The condition of the plate appears to be very good, though I have not polished this at all. I don't see any real loss of silver and no pitting or flaking either. The design if very detailed as Tufts was one of the finer makers of these types of fancy goods. There is one small solder joint where the floral garland that attaches to the handle itself has come loose over the years, though it's not apparent in the pictures and barely noticeable. This unusual piece has applied flowers and leaves on each side of the handle which is accented by large beads at the top. The sides of the bowl are accented with a pattern of beads and bars. The surface of the bowl is embossed and engraved with birds. Butterflies and strawberries, and each of the feet features a handsome stork. It's a wonderful find! Lovely Antique Victorian Brides Basket James W. Tufts. Boston Warranted Quadruple Plate. 2722 I believe this piece dates from around 1870. This beautiful basket features elaborately detailed designs popular in the Victorian era. Very sturdy with four feet and a fold down handle. This makes a beautiful centerpiece. Or on a buffet table. Fill it with pastel Easter eggs. Brightly colored Christmas balls, or flowers. Heavily patinaed with discoloration to the quadruple plate. Along the inner rim is a small area of plate loss( which is a bit darker in color. There are small dents and scratches along the inner rim. And a few more off to the far sides of the center. One area of the skirt edge is just a bit out of round. I have included many photos to help you make a judgement in your purchase. This is an old antique 19th Century Victorian era lovely James Tufts Boston Ma warrented quadruple plate brides basket from old estate. It is 9 1/2" by 9 3/4" and body is 2 3/4" tall and with pivoting handle up it is 10 1/2" tall. It has a wonderful chased image with morning glory flowers. Insects, dragonflies and birds. It has an Art Nouveau influence. It has not been dipped so it has a beautiful dramatic image from the figurals to the background. The only thing I see to note is a little silver loss on the handle. This auction is for a beautiful Victorian silver style plated bride's basket made by James W. Tufts. The basket is square sitting on a round footed bottom with a handle that is anchored from 2 corners of the basket. There are 4 feet that each have a large beaked bird- heron maybe. The inside of the basket is etched with a big rose at each corner rim. The round part of the basket has a fancy border with flowers inside and a circular middle that is plain. Pictures 1 and 3 should show the beautiful etching. Bottom of the basket is marked as shown in picture 4. It is number 2755 in the James W. Tufts line. This old U.S. A. made basket is from the late 1800's era to about 1915. The handle is also very ornate as shown in picture 6. The basket is in very good condition for being over 100 years old. It does need a good cleaning. There are ... morea few scratches which may polish out. No deep scratches. There is one ding in the rim about 1/8 inch long. It does not distract from the beauty of this piece. I did not even notice it until running my finger along the edge. It is small and blends well with the 2 indentations as part of the style of each side. Basket is about 11 inches tall from the bottom to the tip of the ornate handle. The entire interior of the basket is covered as pictured and has a gorgeous fluted edge. The basket stands on four ornate feet and has a fold down handle. A truly elegant silverplate swing handle brides basket or bowl. It was manufactured by James W. Tufts of Boston. MA between 1875 and 1891. It is marked Quadruple plate, and is numbered both 2769 and 35. The center of the bowl depicts a mermaid admiring herself in a mirror held for her by a cherub or putti. There is abundant floral decoration including roses, and the bowl rim and handle are decorated in a heart design. The entire piece is done in elaborate repousse in the rococco style. The swing handle moves easily, and the feet are perfect. It is lightly tarnished, and I guarantee there is no wear to the quadruple silver plating. James Tufts floral paisley fan brides basket #2763 quadruple silver plate Boston
For auction is an unusual silver-plated metal"bride's basket" by the James W. Tufts company of Boston. Massachussetts. It is square-shaped with rounded corners, and has what looks to me like a floral or paisley fan scrolled engraved design on top and a"screen" pattern on the underside. It measures 8 7/16 inches each side and is about 8 1/2 inches high; with the handle at full height it is about 10 inches high. The maker's mark on the bottom indicates it is quadruple plated and warranted. I don't know much about it, I am selling this for a neighbor who told me it was in his house when he bought it.Could be very old(some JW Tufts pieces date to the 19th century) but I do not know for sure. It has some plate loss on one side of the basket and on the handle as well so condition is not perfect, but typical of something ... morereally old. Up for your consideration is this lovely antique James W. Tufts footed circular plate or bowl measures 3 in high and across it is approx. 9 1/2 inches and the handle rises in the center to 5 1/2 inches when in raised position. The handle is very well attached at both sides On the bottom it has the James W. Tufts Boston info shown in the item's title with"Warranted Quadruple Plate" and the number 2768. What a stunning piece for a center piece on any table. The flowers included are a large cone flower. Wild roses, a large rose, daisies, sunflowers and pansies. The other designs are so beautifully etched in to blend with the floral design. The bowl/plate does not sit squarely on a table- it seems to slope to one side.

This 1880’s bride's cake basket is ornately decorated with birds and butterflies among the flowering branches and leaves. The entire interior of the basket is covered as pictured and has a gorgeous fluted edge. There is intricate detailing on the four feet& and the handle. And the handle moves up and down. A Beautiful and Elegant Silverplate swing handle brides basket/bowl. It was manufactured by James W. Tufts of Boston. MA. It is marked Quadruple plate. And is numbered 4336. The center of the bowl depicts a floral motif that is raised in some places. The rim has a nice bead around the edge and the handle has floral décor and graduated bead design at top. The swing handle moves easily. And the feet are perfect. It is tarnished, I will let the buyer decide to polish this or not. The bowl measures 9" and stands 2 1/4" high without handle. I would say it is about 8" high with handle.

It was made by the James W. Tufts Company(1875-1891) of Boston in"Quadruple Plate" It has stock number 2227. It is in the shape of a two spouted creamer. But it has a twisted handle like a sugar basket. It is chased on both sides with sprigs of flowers and small berries. The handle was apparently re-attached with silver solder on one side. Tufts Large Bowl Frame in Shape of a Chair- 1890s Frame stamped James Tufts Quadruple Plate Measures 10 1/4" high x 8 3/4" wide x 8 1/2" deep. The bowl base this frame needs can be no more than 3 3/4" across the base to fit this frame I have seen this frame pictured with a fabulous cameo dish for beaucoups dollars and know it to be a rare frame This frame is very strong and in very good condition however it will need replating The prongs that cradle a bowl are 2 1/2" tall If you need it. Brides Basket by James W Tufts of Boston, Quadruple Silver Plate Numbered
This is beautiful piece of vintage silverware. Originating in the mid-18th century. Ornate silver Brides Baskets once added a bit of elegance and prestige to victorian weddings and are still used by many southern brides. It would have been first carried by the flower girl in the ceremony. Then placed on the brides table to hold her bouquet. Then found in a prominent place in the couple's new home. Today it could be used just about anywhere you want to add a bit of elegance, from a wedding to a holiday party. It is very finely detailed with flower. Bird and scroll motifs. This one has been very well taken care of. There is very little tarnish and some fine scratches that would be consistent with its age but it is otherwise in excellent condition. Up for auction is a beautiful and LARGE brides basket or brides bowl frame made by James W. Tufts of Boston. MA. Tufts was one of the best manufacturers of this type of fancy Victorian goods during the late 1800's when these were in high fashion. This piece is large and is just beautiful and in wonderful condition as well. There is minimal to no loss at all to the silver plate. The piece stands about 17" tall overall. The base or bed has a dimpled pattern which gives it added character. This is 5.5" across. The two side pieces have a width of about 6-1/8" The width of the handles at the widest is 8" Interior. The height from the base or the bed to the underside of the top of the frame is 10.5" The four legs have storks or herons and there are also acanthus leaves adorning the frame. Tufts" and"Boston MA" with the number 131 and"Warranted" It's also marked"Quadruple Plate" This frame is very versatile in the fact that it does not need to be paired exactly to your favorite glass bowl's base. This piece is designed to accommodate almost any size piece of antique glass. Porcelain or pottery by simply sitting on the base. This allows it to display a variety of your pieces rather than try to match the diameter of a bowl's base to the frame's. It's ornate enough to compliment any piece displayed as well. These frames were often paired with plain or enamel art glass bowls by famous glass houses of the 1800's like Mt. Washington. Hobbs Brockunier and Stevens& Williams.
