LEAVES Search Up for auction is a Victorian center piece bowl or basket in good condition by Reed and Barton from the late 1800's. The glass insert is in good condition with no visible cracks or chips and no staining of the glass. The shape of the bowl is unusual in that there are four indentions on the sides for the silver plate grape cluster to fit into. The bowl is original to the holder and measures about 8 inches wide and 2.25 inches tall. The insert stands 6 inches tall to the top of the grape cluster on the rim and 7 inches wide. The total height is 7 inches while the bowl is resting on the stand. No monograms or repairs Silver plate shows ware as shown in the pictures. The bowl is etched with a lovely bunch of flowers held together with a bow and a butterfly floats above. The outside of the basket is embossed with cherubs. Birds and floral sprays and is held up by a cherub seated on a pillow. I'm not sure why or how but there is a beautiful all over carnival glass like sheen, very pretty. Displays beautifully as is or could be polished or resilvered. There are 2 small worn spots on the rim of the basket that must be from where the original bowl sat and a small rough area on the base, see pic 4 at 3 o'clock. Dec. 19, 71. We believe the date to be 1871. The basket features angels or putti balancing the bowl on the basket on there wings and a finial on the top of the handle which appears to be a cat. The basket stands 15 inches tall to the top of the finial and 8.75 inches tall to the rim. There are no monograms or repairs and the design is excellent. The rim of the basket measures about 10 inches across. The inside or center of the basket shows wear so please look at the pictures before bidding. I nsurance is included in the cost of shipping. This is an oval shaped brides basket on an ornate pedestal. The basket is silver plated and was made by Reed& Barton. The basket is 11 ¼ inches wide. 8 ¼ inches deep and 6 ¾ inches high to the top of the basket and 14 inches to the top of the handle. The handle has a deer on the top and the basket has birds perched on each side. The pedestal has four busts facing out. The basket portion has engraved decoration in it. The piece dates circa 1870. The Victorian bridal basket is very interesting with figural accents. Around the rim of the basket are very well-detailed Knights in armor and the bust of a woman that could be a Queen. The base of the basket has a reclining dog and the four feet are hooves. The basket comes with what is believed to be its original etched glass bowl. Here's a Wonderful Antique Reed and Barton Silverplate Centerpiece Basket with Myriad Victorian Motifs. Offered at NO RESERVE! The basket has a Figural Egyptian Pharaoh Hound at the center of the base surrounded by four legs that terminate in Lion type heads. The perimeter of the basket is adorned with four medallions showing Knights and possibly Maidens in profile. Inside of the bowl there is ornate chased decoration of birds at fountains. The basket is in Good Condition; it needs polishing and until that is done it's impossible to say whether the plating is fully intact or not. Generally I've found if you want these old Victorian plated pieces bright and shiny, they need replating. Two of the chased birds must have had very little depth to the head decoration as it is worn pretty well, especially on one. Antique Victorian HP Glass Brides Bowl, Ornate Reed Barton Footed Plated Basket
For sale is an ornate Victorian silver plated bride's basket with an exquisite scalloped-edge. Enamel painted glass bowl. The the bowl is white inside with blue hand painted butterflies and pale brown leaves, and pink outside with enamel painted butterflies and floral motif. This unmarked bowl measures 9 1/4" across at its widest, 3 1/2" at its tallest, and approx. 6 1/2" across the foot, which has a rough, slightly indented pontil. It is in very good antique condition: No cracks, breaks, or repairs. However, there is a 1/2" shallow chip where a spot in the rim comes to a point(see last picture) it is noticeable, but does not detract from the beauty of the bowl. I see a couple tiny pits and some pimples in the glaze, signs of having been manufactured more than a hundred years ago. There is also what looks like a light ... morepartial coffee-cup stain in the bottom of the bowl(go figure) The basket is marked on the bottom rim: MFG& PLATED BY REED& BARTON 3930. It stands 13 1/4" at its highest, 9 3/4" at its widest, and 6 5/8" across the inner part where the bowl sits. The holder has ornate metal work at the top and sides of the handle, and figural birds where they attach to the basket. There are two more birds(front and back) on the basket and all four birds form the legs/feet of the holder. There is ornate relief work around the portion that holds the bowl. The holder is in wonderful antique condition: The silver plate needs polishing(and there is some polish on the holder) but it appears to be mostly intact; no other conditions to report. This is no marriage; a beautiful, quality artifact from the Victorian period. CONDITION NOTE: All of our items are vintage or antique. The handle does not lock into place when in an upright position. It was made by Reed& Barton in the late 1800's. The edge/ border of the basket is a geometric& floral pattern. The interior surface of the basket is an exquisite engraving. I believe the flowers are bleeding hearts with leaves. Stems, ribbons, and ferns. This beautiful Victorian wedding basket has a base of 4 3/4 inches. The basket itself is approximately 9 inches wide and 6 1/2 inches tall from the base to the edge of the basket. The inner diameter of the bowl is 6 7/8" There is no damage but there is one area of plate loss near one ram's head. We will leave polishing to the preference of the buyer. Victorian Reed & Barton Silverplate aesthetic brides basket w/- dog breed cameos
An interesting antique silverplate brides basket by Reed& Barton with a series of cameos of various dog breeds on a ground of floral and geometric patterns. It’s in good. Age appropriate condition with some wear, and what looks like some plating loss in the bowl, it measures about 7” tall and 9” across excluding the bail. The pins securing the bail are unplated brass. I have not attempted to polish it. There is an engraving on the base presenting it from one couple to another. Please ask any questions prior to entering a bid. This listing is for a very nice Victorian era silver plated brides or calling card basket. This piece is in very nice condition. The silver is solid and intact. It measures 10" long x 7 1/2" wide and stands 10 1/4" tall to the top of the handle. There are 4 soldiers and 2 maidens. One on each end. There is a dog sitting on the bottom shelf and the feet of the basket are hooves. Really great Victorian piece. There are 2 dents in the bowl part. One is larger and one is smaller. Victorian Silverplate Reed & Barton Silver Plate Basket with Handle 1900-1940
Reed& Barton brides basket in excellent vintage condition. With no pitting or plate loss. Measures 7" tall without considering handle and 13" high with handle elevated. Absolutely magnificent design decorates this brides basket. In classic Reed& Barton Victorian style, with center tray ornately etched in a floral pattern with ribbon, beautifully detailed handle top with scrolls and abstract design, outer rim extends out ward at about a 45 degree angle, highlighting ornate etched embossed pattern in a floral motif, and several levels of pedestal base, the widest and bottom most presenting a lovely etched almost guilloche pattern. The only"flaw" I can find is that the handle does not stand up on its own. Tightening of the side rivets would fix this, is so desired.
