From a local estate. Here is a very old silverplate bride's basket. Marked"Wilcox Silver Plate Quadruple Plate 875" on the bottom, the basket is about 12 X 8 and stands 13.5" tall with the handle upright. Very ornate, features a figural bird on the handle and a deer under the basket. It sits a little cock-eyed but no breaks or repairs. A preliminary polish revealed heavy tarnish- it looks like the main body will not polish up but some of the decorative elements are silver plate and may get better. However, there are plenty of heavy spots of tarnish and oxidation too- probably best to enjoy this one in your shabby decor rather than with the good silver. The basket was made by Wilcox Silverplate Co. And it is made of Quadruple Silverplate in Meriden, Conn. Wilcox started making silverplate items in 1865, and they continued until they joined with Internation Silver in 1898. The basket has a scalloped edge, and around that edge is a scroll, rose, and leaf pattern. In the center of the basket is an ornately etched bird nest, and the top of the handle is monogrammed CMB. The basket has a four-footed base, and each leg has a Art Nouveau motif floral pattern. The model# 4751 basket measures 10 1/4" wide by 9 1/2" long by 5 1/2" tall. Antique Wilcox Silverplate Quadruple Plate Handled Wedding Plate Brides Basket
This beautiful plate(or basket) is etched with a floral rose design. This style plate on a pedestal has been referred to as a Wedding Plate. Handled Brides Basket, Bridal Basket, Cake Basket, Calling Card Tray and a Brides Calling Card Basket. The mark on the bottom is a full circle and reads: Quadruple Plate, Wilcox Silverplate Co, Meriden, Conn and the#2772(I believe, the# is difficult to read) It measures approx 9" wide at the top, the plate is 5" tall, 11.5" to the top of the handle and 5.25" across the bottom of the base. The Wilcox Silver Plate Co. started in 1867. The company trademark(crossed hammers in full circle) remained in use through the acquisition of Parker& Casper Co. in 1869 and the formation of the International Silver Co. in 1898. The half circle mark was not used until the 1920's. This dates ... morethe plate between 1867 and somewhere in the 1920's. Putting it at 90 to 100+ years old. Considering it's age the plate is in great condition. Maker is Wilcox, an early mark, c1880 Aesthetic ... moremovement era. Border rim on basket is beautifully engraved with birds, dragonflies, flowers and nudes figures and cherubs, center of base is a full figure cherub holding what looks like a hand mirror. This piece has a few issues. First 2 of the legs have separated from the spacer(I don't' know exactly how to describe that piece see the last 2 photos) causing the spacer to be crooked(please see photos 7 thru 10) the handle on 1 side is bent at the bottom, and about 1" of the flat rim overlay over the handle has separated from handle proper, some wear to the plating in spots. Because of the bend in the handle the handle does not fold down, Sold as"In Found Condition" APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS: about 14" tall to top of handle. The basket is about 6-5/8 inches tall(including the handle) About 4-3/8 inches wide, and about 5 inches long. It is in good condition. I have not attempted to remove the tarnish. I bought it from an elderly couple in Alabama about 5 years ago.

This auction is for a Victorian silverplated basket with a swing handle and grape motif. The basket is in excellent condition. There are a few mild spots of tarnish. Because I did a quick polishing job on it. The Wilcox mark is not very well struck. The diameter of the basket is 8 3/4 inches across the top, and the handle stands 9 inches above the table top when raised. I use First Class Mail. Parcel Select Mail, or Media Mail to save on shipping whenever possible, and I combine items for shipment to save on shipping costs when possible. For your consideration is this gorgeous antique Victorian brides basket. The silverplate holder is marked Wilcox Silver Plate Co. I am unsure of the maker of the Peach Blow glass basket. The basket has a wonderful enamel scroll pattern. Originally there was some gold detail. But only traces of gold are left. This is quite a large piece. The glass bowl measures 3 1/8" high x 11 1/2" top diam. the holder 12 1/4" high x 13" at widest point. Other than the gold wear it is in excellent antique condition. Antique Victorian Brides Basket Wilcox Quadruple Silverplate Etched Birds Bees
This is a beautiful Silverplate Bride's Basket. Marked on the bottom: Quadruple Plate; Wilcox Silverplate Co. Meriden. Conn. 163 3 1/2(see photo#8) It stands approximately 12 1/2" tall to the tip of the handle and is 10" across the bowl portion. The inside of the bowl has a beautiful etched pattern of 4 birds(appear to be hummingbirds) over an arrangement of flowers and leaves with a little bee just to the left of each bird. The bowl rim is trimmed with a bell shaped pattern that has texture to it. Handle folds down and the top center has an open ring area for easy carrying that has 3 flower buds center top. The silver looks nice and shiny with only minor areas of tarnish that I'm sure will clean off easily. Condition is excellent. I'm not saying it's perfect and you may find a small ding or dent upon close examination. ... moreBut none are clearly visible. It has been treated with care over the years.
