Stunning Stix& L'Allemand N.Y. Tripleplate#825 bowl holder circa 1880-90. It measures 11" tall by 11" wide. The opening at the base where the bowl would sit is 4" in diameter. The handle is detached in 2 places on one side but you cannot tell by looking at the piece. And the handle is still very sturdily attached to the base.

Oneida Quadruple Plate Brides Basket frame American Aesthetic missing bowl
Great Aunt Euphania picked this up at a thrift store. She thought surely she had a bowl to fit but after trying a few different ones gave up looking so up on ebay it goes. This is a nice old piece. The bottom is hallmarked"Quadruple Plate Oneida, Silver Mfg. Co" in a circle. We have family in Oneida and always visit the antique places in the Central New York area but it's not common to find a piece like this marked Oneida. We would date it to probably around 1900 give or take 10 years but we are not experts. We have handled a lot of silver over the years and although we do like to polish flatware pieces such as this one are best left as they are. There is wear to the silverplating(quadruple plate does not mean 4 layers of silver, it means the last layer of plate was silver) You can tell this has been polished before but we don't ... moreknow that it would look any better and might look not quite as good so we are leaving the patina as-is. The frame is a good size so it would hold a nice sized bowl or do what auntie suggest which is to re-purpose older pieces, she would buy some of that green foam for the base and put silk flowers in it. The whole frame is about 13 1/2" high and 9" across, the height for the inner circle area is about 9" to 9 1/2" It has an American Aesthetic look to it with the flowers in a vase on each side. Antique Figural Victorian Silverplate BRIDES BOWL FRAME, Perched Tropical Bird
Each ornate foot has the"Pat. Apd. stamp. But I find no makers hallmark. The tropical bird with upraised wings is a terrific accent. The diameter for the base of a bowl is a hair under 2 1/2" From the rim of that to the perch is a space a hair under 3 1/4" and the overall width allotment for a bowl would be up to about 9" depending on its overall form. There are no dents. The place where the berry is behind the bird's tail feathers look like it may have once been soldered to the opposite side of the holder. Up for auction is a beautiful brides basket or brides bowl frame made in the later 1800's. Most likely. This frame fits a bowl with an oval base. There is plate loss and one of the handles will need repair where it's separated at the top. Other than this, I see no other breaks or repairs. I cannot find a mark on this piece anywhere. It's possible it was made by Meriden or one of the predecessor companies like Racine or Rockford or Aurora silver plate company. Other high end makers of these types of articles were James W. Tufts, Derby, Wilcox and Pairpoint. The detail on this is very nice, especially the four legs that feature faces of mythical-looking woodsmen or perhaps the Four Winds. The piece is large. It stands about 10" tall overall. Up for auction is a very nice silver plated brides bowl or brides basket frame for an art glass bowl or insert. Much like the ones made by Mt. Washington or the Bohemian glass houses of Europe at the turn of the last century. This frame has a very nice design with shells around the perimeter of the base, scrolls on the four legs and feet and most whimsical of all it features a stag or deer's head on either side of the handles. This is clearly marked"Barbour Bros Co Silver" and"Quadruple" as well as the numbers"233" There is wear to the plate but it still displays just beautifully. The diameter of the base where a bowl or insert would rest is 4-1/8" The larger diameter that rises up at this base is 5.25" There is a distance of 8.75" between the handles at the widest. And the distance between ... morethe base itself, where the bowl would rest up to the underside of the top of the handle is 8.75" The overall height is 13" and it's approximately 9.5" wide. There were many very fine and high quality silver plate manufacturers during the later 1800's through the early 1900's. These included Pairpoint. Meriden, James Tufts, Wilcox Silver, Derby Silver and Rockford Silver Plate Co. This piece is made by the Barbour Bros Co. which was originally organized in 1892 in Hartford CT. It eventually became part of the International Silver Co. in the late 1890's. There is one issue to note. In that the inside handle, where it meets the outside handle has separated at the joint. This is visible in the first photo on the left towards the top of the piece. This is actually not very noticeable as it can be gently pushed back into place and will stay. The strength and stability of the piece is not compromised however and it's very sturdy. Other than this one small issue, I see no other breaks or cracks or repairs to this frame. ANTIQUE JAMES TUFTS of BOSTON SILVER PLATE BRIDES BASKET - BOWL - CASTOR FRAME
Up for auction is a beautiful and LARGE brides basket or brides bowl frame made by James W. Tufts of Boston. MA. Tufts was one of the best manufacturers of this type of fancy Victorian goods during the late 1800's when these were in high fashion. This piece is large and is just beautiful and in wonderful condition as well. There is minimal to no loss at all to the silver plate. The piece stands about 17" tall overall. The base or bed has a dimpled pattern which gives it added character. This is 5.5" across. The two side pieces have a width of about 6-1/8" The width of the handles at the widest is 8" Interior. The height from the base or the bed to the underside of the top of the frame is 10.5" The four legs have storks or herons and there are also acanthus leaves adorning the frame. Tufts" and"Boston MA" with the number 131 and"Warranted" It's also marked"Quadruple Plate" This frame is very versatile in the fact that it does not need to be paired exactly to your favorite glass bowl's base. This piece is designed to accommodate almost any size piece of antique glass. Porcelain or pottery by simply sitting on the base. This allows it to display a variety of your pieces rather than try to match the diameter of a bowl's base to the frame's. It's ornate enough to compliment any piece displayed as well. These frames were often paired with plain or enamel art glass bowls by famous glass houses of the 1800's like Mt. Washington. Hobbs Brockunier and Stevens& Williams. You could also use this as a frame for a large vase, pitcher or castor. It's very versatile because of the design and construction.
