Company ... more1843" This unusual piece has two large(3" diameter) reticulated(openwork) rococo medallions with winged cherubs tending a garden, one holding a watering can. The center has two embossed and engraved flying birds with a rising sun and stand of bamboo trees. It has a fancy floral handle and chased floral rim with four embossed feet. Size: 10.5" wide x 9.5" long and 11" high to top of handle. Condition: very good with little to no wear to silver plate and no scratches or repairs. There is a very light raised dent in center above pedestal base(not obvious really) that prevents the basket from sitting perfectly flat. It could be easily restored or you could place a small felt pad under to keep it level. A very unusual antique American silver basket circa 1875. This fine antique Victorian circa 1870s large footed cake or brides basket by Meriden Silver Co. This large silverplate basket is ornately decorated with Hummingbirds and ivy vines around the ornate four footed base and also on the outer rim. The basket measures about 9 1/2" in diameter and stands 6" in height not including the ornate folding handle. With the handle extended the basket is 12" in height. The basket stands o n four fabulously ornate feet. The silver craftsmanship is excellent. There are no breaks or repairs. The only thing to note is some tiny dark spots on the interior bottom edge of the basket. see photos) This is marked for Meriden Silver Plate Co. Quadruple Plate. ... moreIt is numbered 1667. I have lightly polished th is piece to check for any silver loss or damage. The silverplating is still beautiful as this was always a cherished piece. Any further polishing will be left to the new owner. The Meriden Silver Plate Company was founded in 1852 by Charles Casper in Meriden. Connecticut, and was well known for producing a variety of different silver-plated items which ranged from wine coolers, pickle castors, napkin holders and much more. The company's silver items typically feature maker's marks with the company's name inside of a circular design. While their limited-edition silver items were marked with individual numbers. The company won a first place medal at the 1876 Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia thanks to their variety of silver-plated white metal hollow ware. Victorian 1800's RS Co Meriden Hummingbird Bee Aesthetic Brides Basket
This listing is for a lovely Rogers Smith Co Meriden basket from around the late 1800's-early 1900's with engraved Hummingbird and bee design-Signed by the artist on bottom!see photo of mark) It is a lovely piece with open daisy handle as well with the skirt having detailed aesthetic pattern as well as the side of the handles. The base and top flat area of rim are plain. And to bring out the effect of the piece I left natural patina from age on those areas. They I believe would shine up nicely if you choose. Some people like the patina, but the bowl would not have shown so beautifully if I had not shined it up. There are a few speckles that will shine up as well, but just wanted to give an idea of beauty of piece. The oval daisy area of the handle is a different metal, so that is probably the darkness it is, but is very pretty like ... morethat. It measures 10" across, 7 1/4" to top of basket with a 7" high handle. This piece would have been a stand alone with the engraving. Some pieces as you probably know were made to hold a glass piece, this one would not have. A tiny nearly invisible surface indentation shown in photo of flat edge with bee, just along that edge. Fantastic LARGE AESTHETIC Meriden B Silver Brides Basket 1890's SUPERB MINT A gorgeous brides basket crafted by the Meriden Britannia Silver Plate Company. Established in 1852 in Meriden Connecticut. They were one of the first companies to form International Silver Co. in 1898. Highly regarded, this company was well known for their fine quality and elegance of design and workmanship. Has the very early mark that was used in the 1870's. The inner basket features a highly detailed floral motif. Only thing I found was that the rim is a wee bit out of round. Very minor. This basket is very large and stands a grand 14" tall x 10" in diameter. These brides baskets are very collectable and hard to find in this pristine condition and age. Item is in near mint condition. It has been professionally restored to it's original gem ... morelike luster. With the price of silver and EPA. This has become very costly. Silver plate has a beautiful deep rich shine! Silver plate brides basket or perhaps a calling card holder. Piece has sort of bright cut floral pattern. I have included a photo of the Meriden mark. Piece measures about 6&1/2 inches wide at widest and stands about 4 inches tall. Piece is in very good used condition. There are a few dents and some slight scratches but overall pretty good. It's pretty dark. So it will be up to you whether it gets polished or not. Take a good look at the photos as piece is being sold as-is.

This is a vintage Victorian. I believe Webb Glass peach blown bridal bowl and basket. The basket says it is, Made and Guaranteed by Meriden B Company, 1738. The basket measures 11 1/4" tall x 5 3/4" in diameter at the base. The bowl measures 11 3/4" in diameter. It has a clear opalescent glass rim and a semi-polished pontil on the bottom. It is in excellent condition, no chips, cracks or repair. It does have a couple of bubbles. The basket could use a polishing, but is otherwise in very good condition. It is listed in my store. This brides basket is incredible and beautiful! PLEASE LOOK AT ALL 12 PICTURES)The basket sits on four rounded feet that are decorated with scrolls. Flowers and tiny leaves. Above that is a 1/4 inch band of scrolling work going all the way around. The mane band of the body has large campus leaves some round leaves, large flowers, small flowers and vines. Then there is another 1/4 inch band of scrolling work. The band that holds the glass bowl has a deep stripe pattern all the way around. The C shape connectors that connect the handle to the basket has flowers inside and out and round balls that connect it to the basket ring.The handle is a twisted handle. This silverplate basket has so much going on. It was made by Meriden, and marked on the bottom with an applied piece of silverplate Meriden silver plate Co. No 7017 and a lion holding a ... moretrophy in the middle, this mark dates it to(1869. There is no silver plate missing and no broken metal. This piece was sealed years ago to keep it from turning black, it can be removed by soaking in hot water over night then peal off. The glass fluted bowl was made by L.G.WRIGHT IN 1937. And it is marked with a M with a line in a circle.L.G. Wright Glass Company of New Martinsville, West Virginia, started selling glassware in 1937. Founder"Si" Wright contracted with Ohio and West Virginia glass factories to make popular pressed glass patterns, like Rose& Snow, Baltimore Pear, and Three Face, and opalescent patterns, like Daisy& Fern and Swirl. L.G. Wright items are marked with an underlined W in a circle. The bowl is a daisy and fern pattern it is opalescent and very ice blue. The glass is bright and the pattern is clear. Its original Wright glass! There are no chips, or breaks to this wonderful glass bowl.The glass bowl is 10 inch diameter by 3 deep. Combined sales will save on shipping! This has been gathering dust on top of my display cabinet for ages. Gorgeous brides basket stand. Beautiful Aesthetic Movement design with oriental influence. Engraved with flowers and palmate leaves on the top with 2 inset picture panels showing what appears to be Mt Fuji. The volcano in Japan- with trees and flowers. The skirt has raised panels showing love birds and flowers in low bowl vases. The foot is also decorated with the bird and flower panels to match the skirt. Pierced work on the handle. A substantial, hefty piece. Measures about 7" to the top of the basket and another 6 1/2" to the top of the handle. Approx. 10" ... moreacross the under side of the skirt. About 9" across the top at the hinge points for the handle. Marked on the bottom with 2 circles- B Meriden Company& Quadruple Plate. Also the number 1893 with a scratched in number 685. Unpolished. As you can see there is one spot of loss in the bottom center of the basket. Other wise the finish is very nice with some light scratches from age and use. If you include the handle laying on the side. It is 6 5/8" Tall. If you stand the hand straight up, it is 11" tall. The width is 9 1/4" wide. There is a Victorian etched pattern in the center of the basket. There is some silver plate loss from age and there is a slight bend on the base if the foot. Founder"Si" Wright contracted with Ohio and West Virginia glass factories to reproduce popular pressed glass patterns, like Rose& Snow, Baltimore Pear, and Three Face, and opalescent patterns, like Daisy& Fern and Swirl. L.G. Wright items are marked with an underlined W in a circle. The bowl is a daisy and fern pattern it is opalescent ice blue. The glass is bright and the pattern is clear. Its original Wright glass! Meriden Britannia Co. Footed Brides Basket, very detailed, stand only
What an impressive beautifully detailed basket recently acquired at an estate sale. I am not an expert in silver or silverplate. But will describe as accurately as possible. It is marked Meriden B Company, pattern is un known to me. There is also the number 311 on one foot I have also pictured. Measures 10" tall, width 5 1/2" and the base opening is 3 1/8" There is detailed"beading" all over on the handle, and even tinier looking beading around the outer rim of the bowl. For accuracy only, I will mention that there is a teeney tiny"miss" smaller than a pin head that I have pictured on the rim and another area very small area where I can feel roughness. Victorian Rogers Smith Co Meriden Silverplate Mt. Washington Glass Brides Basket
This lovely Silverplate and Enameled Art Glass Brides Basket measure about 10-5/8" in diameter and 3-3/8" tall when assembled. The Silverplate bottom has a bit of tarnish and maybe missing a handle. The mount was produced by Rogers. Smith& Co. around during the last quarter of the 19th century. The company was out of business by'04. We believe the basket was produced by Mt. Washington Glass co. It is unsigned. The glass has some enamel loss, but is largely in very nice condition with no chips or cracks. The bottom of the bowl does have a polished pontil as would be expected.

Beautiful Victorian silverplate bride's basket with a little cherub on each side. And angels with florals on the inside of the basket. It measures 7 1/2 inches tall to the rim.with handle about 13 1/2 inches. There are no dings or dents. Has dark patina. The red you see is not copper showing through. It's how it took on it's patina. I did not attempt to clean it, although there is old polish residue in the crevices so someone has done it in the past. I don't see any major scratches, some some fine light ones that would be typical from polishing. Made by Meriden. It's hard to see the detail, but there are 4 angels surrounded by flowers and ivy. Ontario– Canada, specifically Kitchener and Ingersoll, after immigrating to Canada from Pennsylvania from the 1760’s. The platter top graduates into a shallow recessed bowl and it has a quilted floral and foliage design and a top swivel handle, very pretty! While the piece is heavy and stands flat and sturdy with no wobble. The top does have some very slight warping(as per the second photo) very common of hand made pieces of the time. Up for auction is a fantastic victorian silver plate figural brides basket by meridan silverplate co. No 7015 with a gorgeous cased bowl which is also marked with the numbers 1023/9 700. Silverplate basket is in excellent condition. Bowl does have an age crack which can be seen from the inside only. The crack is long and at one point in time some dark spots formed under the inside surface near it. There is also four figural feet on the silverplate bowl. This is part of an estate and the bowl& basket have been together a very long time. The crack can only be seen on the inside not from the outside. It can also be seen on outside bottom of bowl. Both pieces look beautiful together. Basket overall measures 13" high x 11" across.

The handle is a little bent. But not separated from the base. Whoever buys it can fix it the way they want. It has not been cleaned. Very old with no damage. The number stamp looks like it is 344. It stands just under 12" and is 6 3/4 wide at the top of the basket.

A victorian silverplate brides basket bowl with pivoting handle. Made by the Meriden Company of Meriden Connecticut. Unpolished, No plating loss. No personal monogram present. Marked on the bottom with the traditional makers mark“Meriden B. Company. Quadruple Plate, 1887” Dates to the early 1900’s. Measures a full 10 inches in diameter. 4 3/4 inch base diameter, 5 1/4 inches to top rim and 12 1/2 inches to top of the handle. Condition is great as there are NO chips. For your consideration is this gorgeous antique Victorian brides basket. The silverplate holder is marked Wilcox Silver Plate Co. I am unsure of the maker of the Peach Blow glass basket. The basket has a wonderful enamel scroll pattern. Originally there was some gold detail. But only traces of gold are left. This is quite a large piece. The glass bowl measures 3 1/8" high x 11 1/2" top diam. the holder 12 1/4" high x 13" at widest point. Other than the gold wear it is in excellent antique condition.
