Antique Victorian Silverplate basket Middletown Hard White Metal Quadruple Plate
Up for auction is this Victorian silverplate basket from Middletown Plate Company. Marks on the bottom include Middletown Plate Co. Quadruple Plate with a set of scales in the center. Underneath are the numbers 1633 1/2. Under that is HARD WHITE METAL. The basket is about 9 3/4 inches across and almost 4 1/2 inches high. Not counting the handle. With the handle extended, it's about 11 inches high. The floral pattern appears cut into the metal. In the center is what looks like a monogram, but I can't be sure what it is. Around the edge of the basket is a pattern of continuous shields. The bottom is unmarked except for the markings indicated above. The basket has wear consistent with its age. There are a few small dents in the rim which are more evident when looking at the bottom. There is some pitting on the interior. I am not sure ... moreif there is a slight depression at the monogram. But I can feel it. I am not sure how well this basket will polish up. The item in this listing is from a collector who had vast areas of interest. He housed his collections in temperature controlled buildings allowing access to only a chosen few. He was retired from the U.S. Army and had served in World War II and the Korean War. This is a beautiful Silver Plated Brides Basket/ Fruit Basket. There is an impressed stamp on the bottom which reads: Pairpoint Mfg. Co. New Bedford, Mass, Quadruple Plate, Pat. Jan. 31, 1893 and number 1249. This item is 120 years old. A lot of embossing on this basket. Looks like a branch with apples on the inside bottom which are raised on the inside and punched in on the underneath. Branches, leaves and apples make up the handle which is hinged. 4 feet on which to stand with a gallery above the feet. Looks like the four corners which are indented in have an engraved design on them. This Basket is in excellent condition showing no wear on the silver. It looks like it was not cleaned ... morefor some time as it is tarnished and the pictures will probably show up dark on the computer. I am leaving it as it is for the new owners to clean themselves. Unusual Victorian Silverplate Cologne Bottle Quadruple Plate
This listing is for a very nice Victorian Quadruple Plate cologne bottle. This unusual piece stands 4 1/4" tall and measures 2 3/8" wide. It is marked on the bottom Warranted Quadruple Plate. The front of the bottle reads Cologne. I believe this would have taken a cork as a stopper. But it is missing. The top rim of the bottle has a few waves and it could use a little polishing. Neat antique piece.

I believe the basket is in Quadruple Plate or has been re-plated as it is in very good condition for its age. The Meriden B. Company merged with International Silver Company at the end of the 1800's and this basket still carries the Meriden mark and not the I.S. mark. It is small standing 6.5 inches tall to the top of the handle and 2.5 inches tall to the rim. It is 6.75 inch long and 6 inches measuring front to back. The cut work is fantastic. Victorian fret or cut work was often achieved by using a tool similar to a dental knife of today to carve the intricate details by hand. The fret work on the basket was made separately and attached to the base of the basket ... morewhich also was an art. The center of the basket is still retains a light gild trim. c1893 Victorian Art Nouveau Flowers Poppies Brides Basket Silver Quadruple Plate
This listing is for a lovely romantic art nouveau brides basket that is a harder to find company. It was made by Queen City Silver Co. out of Cincinnati Ohio. Numbers on bottom indicate it was made in 1893. It is in excellent condition for age with no dents and just a couple minor small spots of plate loss on relief areas of flowers that just looks like reflection so you don't notice it. The very edge handle have a couple small spots of plate loss as well. But not enough to detract from the piece or grab your attention and I only therefore mention for accuracy. The art nouveau lines are lovely and the handle is just as decorative as the basket. It measures 8 3/4" high to top of handle that will stay in place in upright position-not too loose or tight-just right. Bowl area is 10" across. This is an Antique Tea Pot made by Roger's. 1236, Quadruple Plate with a hinged lid. I do not know how old this is but it looks'turn of the century' pre-or early 1900's. I don't know about these things. This was an estate find. So I do not know it's history. The measurements are 8" Tall x 9.5" Wide with a 3.5" base. The handle and spout are both approx. 5" long. The condition is pre-owned. Used, antique. This is tarnished and has some dents on the body. There is a small amount of warp on the lid rim which is not seen unless you pop the lid up and look at it closely. The lid works well, is on very good and is not loose and the handle and spout show no blemishes. The base sits flat and is not warped, and there is no corrosion. I cleaned this well and tried to put what was left of my polish on it. ... moreBut ran out, so I decided to leave the antique finish on it. In one of the pictures, it still looks wet on the inside. USA Quadruple Plate#1006 Information: This is an antique silver plate quadruple plate brides basket made by Derby Silver Co. from Derby. CT USA. This beautiful vintage item after some research dates between 1872- 1933 which are the years this company was in business. This basket has hig sides deocrated with stars and floral designs. This has patina to include tarnishing and I am leaving it up to the buyer to polish if they desire. The center has a raised medallion with a victorian design that incorporates a heron or bird design with scrolling. There is a slight small approx 1 cm in size silverplate loss in the top plate near the raised medallion. The handle is in tact and quite detailed. The handles where they meet up with the body ... moreof this basket have a light colored string wrapped in the seam which I am not certain why it is there. The handle operates fine and properly. the string may be able to just be removed or left as is. The ornate design around this beautiful bowl are of tassels. Please see pictures. Meriden Antique Victorian Quadruple Silver Plated Cake Basket Circa Late 1800's For sale is a beautiful Victorian Meriden quadruple silver plated bride's or cake basket for use as centerpiece. Holiday, wedding banquet table, flower display, or for flower girls. Dimensions: 13 1/2" tall with handle fully upright position- 10" outside diameter. 8" inner diameter, 6" from table to bottom of basket- the shallow walls slope gently up& outward Floral topped handle is very stable and stays in the upright position if you wish; the stand has a stepped pedestal foot. And a 3/4" wide relief decorated band around the basket. There are some scratches and silver loss commensurate with age. But this cake basket still displays well. Victorian Brides Basket Silverplate Quadruple Plate Clear-Cased Peach Glass Bowl
For sale is a beautiful brides basket bowl sitting in an ornate handled quadruple silver plated stand. The fluted bowl is a gorgeous peach color all over except for a clear cased upper edge; there may be a peach case on top of the clear case or it's an optical illusion. I can't tell which. It's in excellent antique condition: No chips, breaks, cracks, or repairs. I do see bubbles and a couple of minute rough spots in the glass, all part of having been manufactured over a hundred years ago; there are scratches in the glass, but because I can not feel them, I think they might literally be IN the glass. The bowl is unmarked and has a smoothe pontil with one rough spot. It measures 8 1/2" across the top, 3 1/2" tall, and 3 7/8" across the base/foot. The stand is incredibly ornate with ribbed handles that form a knot ... moreat the top and have one strawberry and three sets of three leaves on each side. The handles connect in four places to a 6 3/4" round base base with a 4" diameter hole that receives the base of the bowl. The base has a ribbed bottom lip and four ornate feet. The stand is 12" at its widest and 10 1/2" tall. The base is marked, but unfortunately it is only a partial mark: Top. or Tor. Company Quadruple Plate 2 10. It is tarnished, but I believe most of the silverplate is present; it should polish up nicely. There are some scratches inside the basket where the bowl sits, but the stand is in otherwise excellent conditon. This will make a nice addition to your collection. I believe the designed element on the top of the handle as well as the decorative handle mounts on the edge of the basket are made of pewter. Basket could use good polishing. To really make it"pop" There is an area on the rim of the basket(approx 1/2 inch long) where I believe the plating may be worn away(see pic 10) which may or may not become more noticable if the piece is polished. This beautiful basket features elaborately detailed designs popular in the Victorian era. Very sturdy with four feet and a fold down handle. This makes a beautiful centerpiece. Or on a buffet table. Fill it with pastel Easter eggs. Brightly colored Christmas balls, or flowers. Heavily patinaed with discoloration to the quadruple plate. Along the inner rim is a small area of plate loss( which is a bit darker in color. There are small dents and scratches along the inner rim. And a few more off to the far sides of the center. Meriden B Company Bridal Cake Basket vintage victorian quadruple plate tray
Absolutely breathtaking! This is a lovely example of Meriden B Company’s quadruple plate at its best. This bridal or cake basket. Tray, or platter is apx. 9 ¾” in diameter. It stands apx. 5 ½” to the top of the plate, and has a handle apx. 5” tall, for a total of apx. 10 ½” in height. The handle has a floral design. And the inside of the basket has what look like daisies and leaves. The edge of the basket is exquisite with flowers and leaves. The base is 4-footed, and has a more stylized design. Condition: I think you will be very pleased with it. It does have a few scratches and tarnish. Please see the pictures– 12 of them. As they are part of the description. Victorian Antique Quadruple Silver Plate Bridal Basket with Ornate Detailing
I received this lot from an estate inheritance. It is a very nice Victorian Antique Quadruple Silver Plate Bridal Basket with Ornate Detailing. We believe this to be a Regence or a Regal Brand manufactured Bridal Basket[the hallmark on the bottom is visible and clearly exists but is different to read part of the print-there is definitely a crown hallmark on the bottom though] The number on the bottom of the bowl is 202. There is ornate footed detailing and an ornate handle with engraving inside the bowl itself[see pictures] The motif design is floral. ASSYRIAN HEAD Footed CAKE or Bride's BASKET Rogers Smith& Co. Meriden. CT- Quadruple Plate- 1915 I have been a long time collector of this exotic Victorian era silverplate pattern- this is the first time I have seen an"Assyrian Head" basket! The facing profiles of a Greek or Roman man and woman. The full face of a Goddess with flowing locks of hair, and the distinctive pinwheels are familiar elements of the pattern that surrounds the inside of this basket. It stands on four reticulated feet- a design that is repeated on either side of the base where the swing handle is attached. The center of the bowl has a fancy monogram of three intertwined letters- possibly'C-S-M' a lovely decorative"period" accent to the piece. The handle has a beaded design. 10.25" wide. 9.75" high with handle up, 4" ... morehigh rim Condition: Outstanding! Previously Owned"used. F B Rogers Silver c1890 Quadruple Plate Footed Basket Embossed Victorian Large This is a unique Victorian style embossed basket and very sizable display piece. The quadrupleplate basket is by F B Rogers Silver Company. The basket is thick and weighs 2 pounds. 10 ounces. It measures approximately 12 1/2 inches in height(with handle up) and 10 1/2 inches long. It is 6 1/2 inches in height with the handle down. The base is 6 3/4 by 5. The basket is a little over 9 inches deep. The handle moves freely with no issues. The 12 inch artificial rose and spoon are for size comparison. This basket was made sometime between the late 1880s and very early 1900s. That estimate is not because of the 1883 on the makers mark. That mark was used for many years. Quadruple plate was used from the latter part of the 1800s to the very early 1900s. The basket could ... morehave been made as early as 1883 but not much later than 1900. The second photograph is how the basket looked when I bought it. I was going to leave the tarnish so the buyer could choose whether to clean it and how much. However. I could not see, photograph, or accurately describe any details or imperfections without removing some tarnish. I gave the exterior one coat of polish. I polished the inside and underside completely. The exterior will shine like the underside if it is polished a few more times. Besides the interior, the basket is in good to very good condition depending on your personal criteria. The exterior shows very little wear in terms of use. There are some minor scrapes and nicks. The ones that do exist are mostly superficial and relatively small. This can be seen in the photographs. This basket surprisingly has less physical wear than many newer silverplate I come across. There is minor plate loss to the exterior. The one area that shows noticeable plate loss is one embossed area on the rim. I put a green mark on that photo. Besides that. The rest of the embossed areas show some to hardly any wear. For sale is an ornate Victorian quadruple silver plated bride's basket with an exquisite fluted cased-glass bowl. The pink glass starts dark at the ruffle and flows down to a very pale pink at the center. The underside is white. This unmarked bowl measures 10 1/8" across at its widest. 3" at its tallest, and 3 1/4" across the foot, which has a rough, indented pontil. It is in excellent antique condition: No cracks, breaks, chips, or repairs; just some pimples, a teeny cut mark near the center, stretch marks" in the glass around the ruffles, and 3- 1/4" shallow cuts near the rim on the foot, all signs of having been manufactured more than a hundred years ago. The basket is marked on the bottom rim: Victor Silver Co. Quadruple Plate 1280. It stands 11 1/4" at its highest, 11 7/8" at its widest, and 3 1/4" ... moreacross the inner part where the bowl sits. For sale is a Victorian cake stand or bride's wedding basket marked on the bottom: Pairpoint Mfg. Co. New Bedford Mass Quadruple Plate 1259. Great for displaying fruit. Guest soaps, floral arrangement.you name it! This basket is unmarked but is probably quadruple silver plate. It's very ornate: The inside of the basket is decorated with a etched motif of flowers and leaves. The outer is fluted like a pie crust. The handle has an intricate filigree ornament in a floral and leaf motif. The bottom rim has a relief fern design. The four feet have an ornate relief scrolled design. This cake stand is in good antique condition: The silver plate appears to be intact over most of the stand; it should polish up nicely. Rare Victorian Quadruple Plate Portrait Bride's Basket- Mt. Washington
As a long time collector of antiques I have seen a great many Bride's Baskets(or Berry Bowls as they were called in their day) however. This one stands out among the rest. Featuring a huge 12" diameter bowl with a portrait in the center. The floral decoration looks very much like the type of work done by Mt. Washington Glass Co. Heavily enameled in bright colors, with a raspberry edge fading to pink to white in the center. It is in excellent condition, but shows evidence of gold tracing which has worn off with age. Personally, I think it looks much better without the gold, allowing the bowl to shine without distraction. The Quadruple plated holder was made by the Superior Silver Co. and has the early mark used before their acquisition by International Silver Co. in June 1899. Circa 1866 Victorian Simpson Hall Miller Silver Quadruple Plate Brides Basket Description. Circa 1866 Victorian Era silver quadruple plate brides basket by Simpson Hall& Miller Co. Wallingford, Ct. USA. Heavily engraved floral and geometric patterns including birds, a butterfly, cattails and wildflowers. Square footed base with raised ends making it rectangular in shape. One side of the swing handle needs soldering. When positioned properly the handle will remain standing but should be repaired. It looks like an easy fix. Large embossed flowers are applied on both sides. It is not dented and stands nicely. It weighs 5.6 pounds. 11" L. x 7" w. x 7" h. I've left the natural patina and not polished it.
