Overall condition is very good with no dents. Dings, or repairs.In LIKE NEW CONDITION. Be sure to look at all the photos to see the amazing quality and craftsmanship that went into it. And the gorgeous HAND DONE designs of flowers, birds and butterflies on the face of the dish. This is a silverplate piece. But it is QUADRUPLE plate from the James W. Tufts Company of Boston. My research found that Mr. Tufts worked as a silverplater in Boston from 1875-1895. And then withdew from the business due to ill health. The firm closed in 1915. Antique Wilcox Silverplate Quadruple Plate Handled Wedding Plate Brides Basket
This beautiful plate(or basket) is etched with a floral rose design. This style plate on a pedestal has been referred to as a Wedding Plate. Handled Brides Basket, Bridal Basket, Cake Basket, Calling Card Tray and a Brides Calling Card Basket. The mark on the bottom is a full circle and reads: Quadruple Plate, Wilcox Silverplate Co, Meriden, Conn and the#2772(I believe, the# is difficult to read) It measures approx 9" wide at the top, the plate is 5" tall, 11.5" to the top of the handle and 5.25" across the bottom of the base. The Wilcox Silver Plate Co. started in 1867. The company trademark(crossed hammers in full circle) remained in use through the acquisition of Parker& Casper Co. in 1869 and the formation of the International Silver Co. in 1898. The half circle mark was not used until the 1920's. This dates ... morethe plate between 1867 and somewhere in the 1920's. Putting it at 90 to 100+ years old. Considering it's age the plate is in great condition. There are some light scratches and a couple of small spots of silver loss in one area on the face of the plate(shown in photos) There are four tiny spots on the rim where the handle hits which seems to be common in this style plate. It is in very good used condition. The basket has a very nice flower pattern. Victorian Brides Basket Silverplate Quadruple Plate Clear-Cased Peach Glass Bowl
For sale is a beautiful brides basket bowl sitting in an ornate handled quadruple silver plated stand. The fluted bowl is a gorgeous peach color all over except for a clear cased upper edge; there may be a peach case on top of the clear case or it's an optical illusion. I can't tell which. It's in excellent antique condition: No chips, breaks, cracks, or repairs. I do see bubbles and a couple of minute rough spots in the glass, all part of having been manufactured over a hundred years ago; there are scratches in the glass, but because I can not feel them, I think they might literally be IN the glass. The bowl is unmarked and has a smoothe pontil with one rough spot. It measures 8 1/2" across the top, 3 1/2" tall, and 3 7/8" across the base/foot. The stand is incredibly ornate with ribbed handles that form a knot ... moreat the top and have one strawberry and three sets of three leaves on each side. The handles connect in four places to a 6 3/4" round base base with a 4" diameter hole that receives the base of the bowl. The base has a ribbed bottom lip and four ornate feet. The stand is 12" at its widest and 10 1/2" tall. The base is marked, but unfortunately it is only a partial mark: Top. or Tor. Company Quadruple Plate 2 10. It is tarnished, but I believe most of the silverplate is present; it should polish up nicely. There are some scratches inside the basket where the bowl sits, but the stand is in otherwise excellent conditon. This will make a nice addition to your collection. The center hole for the glass bowl measures 4" diam and the cradle between the hoops at the base measures 5 1/4" up to 8 1/4" between the upper hoops. Marked on the bottom rim: Hartford Silver Plate Co. Quadruple Plate 987. Victorian Silver metal frame with four ball feet and a wide hoop handle. The top of the frame is scrolled with a Flower and Leaf pattern. The sides of the base have large clusters of Flowers and Leaves on each side. Beautiful quadruple silverplate footed basket with bird handles. Someone else sold the same one on eBay a few months ago. They had it listed as a brides basket. I am not so sure since it is rather small for a brides basket. Thought it might be a condiment holder in which case the glass piece is missing. Either way. It is very pretty. I polished it as it was completely black when I found it. It will clean further but it took a lot of polishing to get it this clean. One foot appears to have been fixed. There are soldering marks along the top of the foot where it meets the rim of the base(see photos) Mainly evident from the inside but you can see a light excess mark along the rim on the outside. One scallop along the rim seems to be slightly pressed in(see photos) Circa 1900- 1925 Hallmark Rockford Silver P. Co. Pairpoint Mfg Co was in existence from 1880 till 1958 but did not make silverplate after 1929. Approximate Size: 10 inches by 4 inches tall and 10 inches high(to top of handle) Weighs 1 ¾ pounds. The basket is a little warped out of shape after a 100 years and that gives it some character to it and it needs to be gently bent back into shape but quite useable as is. Middletown Quadruple Silverplate Brides Basket 1771 1899-1910
Estate auction find that was extremely tarnished. I polished it with Semichrome Polish and I think it will polish even more if you work on it. I wanted to make sure the plating wasn't worn off like some old pieces. It is in good shape except for a few dark flecks which will probably polish out and one spot underneath the basket that is either tarnished or worn off. The bail can be up or down. It measures 10" diameter. 7" tall or 14" to top of bail when it is up. Engraved on the bottom is a balance scale and Middletown Plate Co, Quadruple Plate, 1771, Hard White Metal. Antique Victorian Brides Basket Wilcox Quadruple Silverplate Etched Birds Bees
This is a beautiful Silverplate Bride's Basket. Marked on the bottom: Quadruple Plate; Wilcox Silverplate Co. Meriden. Conn. 163 3 1/2(see photo#8) It stands approximately 12 1/2" tall to the tip of the handle and is 10" across the bowl portion. The inside of the bowl has a beautiful etched pattern of 4 birds(appear to be hummingbirds) over an arrangement of flowers and leaves with a little bee just to the left of each bird. The bowl rim is trimmed with a bell shaped pattern that has texture to it. Handle folds down and the top center has an open ring area for easy carrying that has 3 flower buds center top. The silver looks nice and shiny with only minor areas of tarnish that I'm sure will clean off easily. Condition is excellent. I'm not saying it's perfect and you may find a small ding or dent upon close examination. ... moreBut none are clearly visible. It has been treated with care over the years. Antique Quadruple Silverplate James W. Tufts Victorian Birds Brides Basket
I am selling a 40 year collection of antiques. All items are guaranteed antique and as described.Check my other auctions for more fine antiques.This is a nice antique Victorian silverplate Brides Basket. It is marked on the bottom James W. Tufts Boston Warranteed Quadruple Plate 3741. The plate is in very good condition. Showing little or no wear. The bowl has an overall engraved bird butterfly leaves and flower design. It has a fancy hinged handle that lays down and it is raised on four fancy pierced feet. It measures 10.5" to the top of handle and 3.5" tall to the rim and 9.5" across. This beautiful basket dates from the 1880s. No dents or repairs it is in beautiful condition and the silver plate is also in very good condition.
