This quadruple plate basket was made by the Derby Silver Co. is circa 1890. The basket is decorated with flowers of various types on the outside. The basket is 4 3/4 inches wide and 2 inches high not including the handle. It is 5 inches high when the handle is extended. The basket has a scalloped edge. It is in exceptional condition with no dents and no silver loss. There are some scratches on the inside.

hi. here is a great antique Derby Silver Company reticulated and ornate edging bride's basket. it is hallmarked on the bottom DERBY SILVER CO QUADRUPLE PLATE. it has beautiful detail all around the edges with great scroll work and reticulated design. this one sits on a stand that ends with 4 hairy paw feet. and the handle is equally beautifully done. 9.5 inches to the top of the handle. Basket is a 10.5 x 7.5 rectangle rounded on 2 ends. Sculptural cutouts of Cherubs in trees with baskets picking cherries, beautiful detail. Inside bottom has a circle of leaves with a striped cat head and paws coming out of the middle. Very hard to see, almost missed it. Silverplate is in very good condition with loss of plating in a small spot on top of curved edge, last photo. Handle has 3D rose on top. Fancy triangular feet are decorated with scrolls, flowers, and beading. Basket is substantial, weighs almost 2 1/2 lbs. Measures 3" tall from bottom to edge, 10" tall to top of handle. Meriden Britannia BRIDES BASKET #1887, Quad Silver Plate, Hummingbirds Flowers
This auction is for a beautiful BRIDES BASKET. Or Fruit Bowl, with a pedestal base and a swing handle. There is a highly detailed rim while the interior of the bowl features hummingbirds and flowers. It is#1887, was made by the Meriden Britannia Company, and is a Quadruple Silver Plate. The Meriden Britannia Company was in business from 1852 until 1898 and through a number of buy-outs the mark shown was used until the 1930s. It is 10" in diameter across the top. Stands 5" with the swing handle lowered and is 12 1/2" with the handle raised. The condition is like new with some overall light tarnish.
