This small vintage hobnail bon bon bowl features a ruffled edge and is done in hand-blown cased glass. It measures approximately 7 inches across and 2.25 inches tall. It is blue on the inside and white on the outside with a nice pontil mark on the bottom. I do see a couple of bubbles in the inside bowl area. Therefore this basket was manufactured somewhere within that time frame The numbers on the bottom of the basket is not the date, but the manufacturing ID number. Middletown is a silver"plate" company, therefore this is"silver plated" and not pure or sterling silver. Nonetheless, I actually had this bridal basket appraised at the antique road show by David Lackey and a local company here in my city and the both gave the same answer: It's worth is approximatly $150-$200 not because of it being"silver plated" but because of it's antiquity. Age and fine detail. And how true that is! Antique Vintage Forbes Silver Company Ornate Metal Silver Plate Bridal Basket
A beautifully ornate bridal basket from Forbes Silver Company. It is marked with the company seal and the number 200 on the bottom. It has a nice leaf and flower design etched into the surface with a raised inlaid flower design edge. The handle resembles grape vines with leaves and fruit. Was going to polish but think the patina gives it a wonderful antique feel. There is some surface scratching and a few small dings but nothing major. Its diameter measures 8-1/2 inches.

The company manufactures all varieties of useful and ornamental household goods in great variety, including knives, forks, spoons, cake baskets, and an almost endless variety of table ware, hat, hair, clothes, and crumb brushes, candlesticks, casters, card receivers, communion ware, ice pitcher sets, epergnes, jewel, cigar, and cigarette ... morecases, wine coolers, ash receivers, match safes, etc. etc. The company organized in 1880 with Edward D. This quadruple bridal basket and matching blue glass bridal bowl were made in the early 1880's. The bottom is marked with Rogers& Smith Co- Meridan#1974 USA and etched with 37663-3. The basket itself is very detailed with bows and roses. The handle is engraved with what I believe to be a"Y" initial. The glass is a beautiful shade of blue with double crimping and a similar rose pattern. There are no markings that I can find on the glass itself and it is in mint condition with no chips or cracks. This has been a personal favorite in my collection of glass since purchasing it at an estate auction in Ohio back in 2005. Gorgeous 19th Century Bridal Brides Basket, Antique Glass HP Bowl, Silverplate
Up for sale is a beautiful Victorian 19th century bride's basket with hand-painted cased glass fluted bowl and quadruple silverplated holder with ornate handle. The color on the upside of the bowl begins with a clear edge then flows from dark rose to pale pink and very pale pink in the center. Yellow dots. Flowers, and scrollwork and blue and white flowers are all handpainted: You can feel the depth of the paint, which is in very good condition. Silver color leaves also grace the bowl, but some of this paint seems to have faded. I see no chips or cracks in the glass bowl. There are minute spots of what looks like ash on the all-white bottom; there is also a bubble in the finish of the upside that looks and feels a bit like a pimple and is about the size of a pencil eraser; these are from the manufacturing process done more than one hundred ... moreyears ago. The quadruple silverplated basket was made by the New Amsterdam Silver Co. and has the number 2971 engraved in the bottom; the number 5446-x is etched into the bottom. The basket is in good condition but is in need of polishing. The base appears to have most of its silverplate intact with the exception of the inside of the base where the bowl sits; some parts of this have a greenish cast. The handle seems to have some silverplate loss as well as some minute pitting. All in all this is a wonderful piece for something that could very easily be 115 years old. Bowl is 11" in diameter at its widest. 3" high, and 3 1/2" across the base. Holder is 12 1/2" at its widest and 13" high. Please ask questions. Vintage Antique Silver Bridal Basket, candy nut flower bread serving dish
This vintage bridal basket has a dark varying patina. The only stamp I find is“2206" etched on the underneath of the base. No other hallmarks are visible to me. I believe this was silverplated and much of the plating has worn off over the years. But I am not sure- I just know I don’t see any stamp to indicate it is sterling silver although it is a heavy metal piece. I had this on display in my home for years but have not tried polishing it as I prefer the aged look of its’ patina. There are some decorative scroll and flower etchings inside the bowl part. These have a shinier silver look to them with some accents that appear similar to diamond cuts as they sparkle. Without the handle upright. This basket is 5.5" tall. 18" height with handle and 10" length longest part. I cannot find the markings on this for the life of me. Family heritage piece. Old American based on the shape of the repousse/ stars shaped hand carved. It is a beautiful basket. It is 5.50" tall. 10" in diameter and features three finely detailed feet and arched handle. It will need to be polished. I found this beautiful basket about 50 years ago in the basement of a Victorian Italianate house I restored.
