A gentleman, a lady and butter churns. The basket measures 9.25" tall x 5.0' wide x 3.50" deep. Circa 1892. In EXCELLENT condition for it age. See pictures Repoussé is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is ornamented or shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief. Despite the great interest in the Barbour Silver Company information on its history is sketchy. Here's what researchers at the Connecticut Historical Society uncovered: In 1881 or 1882. Samuel Barbour moved from Chicago to New Haven, Conn. where he and his brother Charles joined in forming the Barbour Brothers Co. At this point, they were only marketers of silverplate products made by I. J. Steane& Co. of Hartford. But the brothers were operating in Hartford by no later than 1889, since the Geer's city directory for that year contains the listing, Barbour Bros. Co. silverplated ware mfgs. 64 Market St. Market Street, located downtown, has been altered greatly since then. In 1892. A decade or so after its formation, the brothers' original partnership was succeeded by the Barbour Silver Co. which also succeeded Steane& Co. The 1889 edition of the Geer's city directory has a listing for"Barbour Silver Co. The dish itself measures 9 1/2 inches in diameter. 3 inches in height to the top of the basket and 8 inches in height to the top of the handle. It features an engraved floral design in the center of the basket, fluted beaded edges with the same beading decorating the handle. This is a Barbour Silver Co. silver plate repousse basket. This piece measures 13 inches tall. 4 1\2 inches across at the handles, and has a 3 3\4 by 3 inch oval base. The bottom is marked with a windmill and smoking pipes on each side. The number 3736 is under neath. There are scenes of drinking, dancing and wooing. There is a lot of detail and scrolling. This piece is in good condition with no cracks or repairs. It has not been cleaned and does show some wear.

It measures 6 1/4" x 4 1/8" and stands 2 1/4" tall(5.5" with handle extended) The condition is very good with some wear in the very bottom of the ba sket. We have tried to show this is the photos. Barbour Silver Co. Victorian Silverplate Oval Brides Cake Basket Bright Cut
Welcome. While cleaning& organizing, I came across this beautiful Victorian brides cake basket in silverplate by the Barbour silver co. This one is a scalloped oval shape with a bright cut design inside& lots of ornate features, especially the handle& the footed base. It measures 8 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 3 3/8" tall(without the handle up) About 10" tall with the handle up but it doesn't stay up very well. It's a little tarnished but I don't see any loss of the silver plating on it. It weighs right at 2 lbs. without the packaging. It will be sent insured.

ATQ BARBOUR SILVER CO BRIDES BASKET RUFFLED & FLORAL PAINTED BOWL~NICE DETAIL
This is a beautiful Antique Brides Basket from the 1800's. The bottom basket is marked"Barbour Silver Co. Quadruple Plate# 247. It has a round platform circular bottom. With an embossed 3 d flower in the center. The basket has two metal bars which form into one midway, as the handle. There is a rope design, which is entwined around the top metal handle. This design has detailed berries embellishments. On each side of the handle are large detailed raised 3d leaves(5) Hanging from the leaves are two dangling detailed berries, giving the basket a completed fabulous look. The insert bowl is blown encased glass. The exterior is a milk white, the edges are crimped and ruffled, giving the bowl a look of opulence. The edges are a deep fushia color fading lighter as it descends into the bowl, turning into a creamy white color. Over the white ... morearea there are hand painted raised pedal, delicate flowers in a baby blue, and each dotted with pink centers. The finishing detail is cascading leaves and alternating scrolls, all done in fine gold detailing. This piece has minor flaws, age appropriate pitting on the silver, which also needs a polishing if so desired. The edge of the rim holding the glass insert has some bending, however it is not seen when the bowl is in place. Minor gold loss on some of the detailed banding in the center of the bowl, again this can be easily rectified. Overall, it is a fabulous piece of history to add to your décor. Thanks for viewing.

This vase is heavily repoused with four panels of a dutch scenes including houses. A gentleman, a lady and butter churns. The basket measures 9.25" tall x 5.0' wide x 3.50" deep. Circa 1892. In EXCELLENT condition for it age. See pictures Repoussé is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is ornamented or shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief. Despite the great interest in the Barbour Silver Company information on its history is sketchy. Here's what researchers at the Connecticut Historical Society uncovered: In 1881 or 1882. Samuel Barbour moved from Chicago to New Haven, Conn. where he and his brother Charles joined ... morein forming the Barbour Brothers Co. At this point, they were only marketers of silverplate products made by I. J. Steane& Co. of Hartford. But the brothers were operating in Hartford by no later than 1889, since the Geer's city directory for that year contains the listing, Barbour Bros. Co. silverplated ware mfgs. 64 Market St. Market Street, located downtown, has been altered greatly since then. In 1892. A decade or so after its formation, the brothers' original partnership was succeeded by the Barbour Silver Co. which also succeeded Steane& Co. The 1889 edition of the Geer's city directory has a listing for"Barbour Silver Co. Silversmiths, 62 Market St. Barbour Silver became one of the first silver firms absorbed by the International Silver Co. of Meriden. Conn. when that concern was established in 1898. This charming bride's basket is quadruple silver plate. Number 2066, from Barbour Silver Co, Hartford CT, circa 1890s. The mark indicates that this basket was made between 1899-1898, prior to Barbour Silver Company joining the International Silver Co around 1900. The basket has molded cherries on a branch, with a highly stylized handle and four dainty feet. It is 5 1/2" round, and 4 1/2" high including the handle. This basket is in excellent condition considering it's age. Antique Barbour International Silver Plated Repousse Flower Basket Figural
Thought this was quite striking at a recent estate sale I attended. Needs a polish but up for your consideration from Barbour International with its trademark Windmill with a Pipe on either side on the bottom is an antique silver plated repousse flower basket style number 3732 is also on the bottom side. The top part of the vase/basket is rolled over. Including the handle of the basket this vase stands 13" tall. The bottom base is 3 3/4" The scenes are typical farm scenes of the age when this basket was made including a man playing the fiddle. A man and his ox plowing the field, a woman tending to a small child and many more scenes depicted. Do not see any repairs to the handle or any scuffs or knicks. As I said it does need a polish! 1890's Beautiful International Silver Company Dutch style repoussé flower basket. Scenes include. Children playing, men drinking, people dancing and eating and looks like someone playing bagpipes on central body of the basket, top edge of the basket and on its base. The handle is decorated with three large cherub or putti, floral garlands, and two reclining cherubs or putti. It measuring 22 ½” tall(the handle portion measures 10” the base measures 12 ½” The basket opening measures 13” by 8” and its base measures 6 ¾” by 4 ¼” Barbour S. P. Co. International S. This is a Vintage Antique Victorian Era Barbour International Sp Co. Flower Basket. It stands 17" tall with the handle. The basket by itself measures 10 3/4" tall x 11" x 7 1/2" opening. And 5 1/2" across the oval shaped bottom. It has heavily Repouse workmanship throughout, with very clearly depicted Colonial Scenes. There is also incredible scroll work all across the handle, and on along the sides and bottom of the basket. The bottom is marked with both names. Barbour and International Silver Co when they merged together in 1890. It is also marked with the#3738, and is in very good condition with its uncleaned original patina. When I was researching this vase/basket I discovered Barbour SP Co. joined with International S Co. in 1898. The scene is a tavern scene and it is 6" wide and 12 3/4" tall. I was able to peel away the bottom that let me know what it was and it reads: Barbour S P Co. International S Co. 3732. It has pictured a windmill with a smoking pipe on each side of the windmill. The vase/basket has a top coating but not sure what it is. However. I am sure it has protected the silver plating underneath this coat. On the inside of the vase, you can see the bluish tarnish of the coating. Not sure what it had in it that turned it that color. Please look carefully at close up pictures and ask questions. In beautiful shape except for a small chip in cobalt that is not running as seen in the picture. Small scratch inside of metal not noticeable with blue cobalt. 71 meant a lower level production. Beautiful repose basket/ vase by Barbour S. P. Co. International Stamped 3736. It stands14 1/2" high. The Barbour Silver Plate Co. merged with International Silver Co. in the early 1890's. This piece was manufactured probably about 1900 and goes by both names. Called Butch vase because scenes of daily Dutch life cover the body. Flared rim and base in repose is depicted.

Antique Vintage Barbour S.P. Company International Silver 3391SA Compote
Up for auction is a beautiful compote from the Barbour Silver Company. This is what I have found In my research of this company. In 1881 or 1882 Samuel Barbour moved from Chicago to New Haven. Conn. where he and his brother Charles joined in forming the Barbour Brothers. Co. At this point, they were only marketeres of silverplate products made by I.J. Steane& Co. of Hartford. But the brothers were operating at Hartford by no later than 1889, since the Geer's city directory for that year contains the listing, Barbour Bros. Co. silverplated ware mfgs. 64 Market St. Market Street located downtown, has been altered greatly since then. In 1892 a decade or so after its formation, the brothers orignal partnership was succeeded by the Barbour Silver Co. which also succeeded Steane& Co. The 1889 edition of the Geer's city directory ... morehas a listing for"Barbour Silver Co. Silversmiths, 62 Market Street. Barbour Silver became one of the first silver firms absorbed by the International Silver Company. of Meriden. Conn. when that concern was established in 1898. This compote is stunning. Barbour Bros. Quadruple-Plated Silver Brides Basket This is a very solid basket and features a pretty federal-style engraved floral design around the inside rim of the basket and around the base rim. This basket stands about 9" tall with the handle up. Antique Barbour Bro Silver Quadruple Plate Berry/Cake Basket Up for auction is this beautiful antique silver plate cake basket by Barbour Bro. This piece has a beaded rim base. Rolled edge basket and a folding rope design handle. It is stamped Barbour Bro Silver Quadruple pattern number 96 on the underside. It is approximately 9.5" diameter and 5.5" tall to the basket and 11" tall to the top of the handle. These baskets were often used for weddings or displaying fruits or cakes back in the day. Barbour Silver Co. Hartford, CT was founded in 1892 and became a division of International Silver in 1898. International Silver used Barbour's marks until 1937. This beautiful piece is in very good condition with light pitting. Slight plate loss and polish residues. ANTIQUE BARBOUR CO. SILVER PLATE BRIDES BASKET BOWL FRAME - AESTHETIC DEER HEAD
Up for auction is a very nice silver plated brides bowl or brides basket frame for an art glass bowl or insert. Much like the ones made by Mt. Washington or the Bohemian glass houses of Europe at the turn of the last century. This frame has a very nice design with shells around the perimeter of the base, scrolls on the four legs and feet and most whimsical of all it features a stag or deer's head on either side of the handles. This is clearly marked"Barbour Bros Co Silver" and"Quadruple" as well as the numbers"233" There is wear to the plate but it still displays just beautifully. The diameter of the base where a bowl or insert would rest is 4-1/8" The larger diameter that rises up at this base is 5.25" There is a distance of 8.75" between the handles at the widest. And the distance between ... morethe base itself, where the bowl would rest up to the underside of the top of the handle is 8.75" The overall height is 13" and it's approximately 9.5" wide. There were many very fine and high quality silver plate manufacturers during the later 1800's through the early 1900's. These included Pairpoint. Meriden, James Tufts, Wilcox Silver, Derby Silver and Rockford Silver Plate Co. This piece is made by the Barbour Bros Co. which was originally organized in 1892 in Hartford CT. It eventually became part of the International Silver Co. in the late 1890's. There is one issue to note. In that the inside handle, where it meets the outside handle has separated at the joint. This is visible in the first photo on the left towards the top of the piece. This is actually not very noticeable as it can be gently pushed back into place and will stay. The strength and stability of the piece is not compromised however and it's very sturdy. Other than this one small issue, I see no other breaks or cracks or repairs to this frame. Antique Barbour Silver Co /Silverplated Repousse Basket /Dutch Revival 1800's
Antique bride or flower girls bridal basket is silverplated on copper in repousse relief of highly detailed images of men. Women and children dancing and celebrating. Marked on the bottom with the older Windmill and smoking pipes mark of Barbour SP Co. and the number 3733 which would date this piece to the late 1800's. Barbour SP Co. continued to manufacture similar baskets into the 1900's. But this one is an oldie and in good condition for it's age. There is a slight dent on the rim but given all the details, this is pretty much camouflaged within it's design. Some plate wear, but not too bad as it was likely spared many polishes over the years. It was completely black with tarnish when I got this and as most of it's beautiful details and overall condition were hidden under all that tarnish, I gave it a quick cursory ... morepolish to gauge condition and bring out some details. It measures 10 inches in height with the handle and 5 inches in diameter at the widest rim. I wouldn't recommend going at it with aggressive polishing to preserve as much plating as possible, but instead maybe keeping it sealed in plastic which will slow down tarnishing when not in use or out on display.
