The quadruple plated silver basket was made by the MIDDLETOWN PLATE CO. See mark in picture provided. I have included a bit of MIDDLETOWN PLATE CO. history below. There are also some numbers on the bottom of basket and part of the marking says, HARD WHITE METAL" I polished the basket prior to taking pictures so that you can see much of the silver is gone from years of polishing. But there remains a nice patina. The metal basket is sturdy and sits level. It has a beaded rope design with flowers and tassels on the handle. The base has flowers and what seems to be an Asian influenced design. See pictures. The glass brides bowl is white with a teal color around the ruffled edge. When held up to the light the glass takes on a pearlescent look. See picture. It measures approximately 7 inches in diameter. It does have one barely noticeable chip in the glass. See pictures. Your eye is not immediately drawn to this and it does not detract from the beauty of the piece. This little basket is great to use for teas. Antique Victorian Silverplate basket Middletown Hard White Metal Quadruple Plate
Up for auction is this Victorian silverplate basket from Middletown Plate Company. Marks on the bottom include Middletown Plate Co. Quadruple Plate with a set of scales in the center. Underneath are the numbers 1633 1/2. Under that is HARD WHITE METAL. The basket is about 9 3/4 inches across and almost 4 1/2 inches high. Not counting the handle. With the handle extended, it's about 11 inches high. The floral pattern appears cut into the metal. In the center is what looks like a monogram, but I can't be sure what it is. Around the edge of the basket is a pattern of continuous shields. The bottom is unmarked except for the markings indicated above. The basket has wear consistent with its age. There are a few small dents in the rim which are more evident when looking at the bottom. There is some pitting on the interior. I am not sure ... moreif there is a slight depression at the monogram. But I can feel it. I am not sure how well this basket will polish up. The item in this listing is from a collector who had vast areas of interest. He housed his collections in temperature controlled buildings allowing access to only a chosen few. He was retired from the U.S. Army and had served in World War II and the Korean War. Exquisite antique bride's basket manufactured by the MIDDLETOWN PLATE Co. Founded in 1864 and subsequently taken over by the International Silver Co. It is difficult to pinpoint it's exact vintage. It has been estimated that this piece is c. 1899 to the early 1930's. The craftmanship on this piece is stunning from it's embossed rim to the art deco handle. Most notable, are the handle's antique craft work swivel attachments. This piece is in excellent condition, no denting, very light scratching, and in need of polish. With handle in the down position, this basket sits approx. 2 1/2" high on a blunted pedestal. When measuring with handle up, the piece measures approx. 8" high. The diameter of the piece is 9 1/4" set on a 4 1/4" in diameter pedestal.

Vintage Silver Plate Bridal Basket Middletown Plate Company
I don't know the age of this silverplate basket. It is marked 1821 Middletown Plate Company. Middletown, Conn. I had it replated, so the silver is good. For some reason, the picture shows the basket to not be level although it's not as obvious when looking at it. Polishing requires a gentle touch in order to avoid pressure on the pedestal. Basket with handle up is 10" tall. Bowl is 9" diameter. Handle will collapse or stay up on its own. Condition is good. I welcome any questions.

Antique Middletown Silver Plate Centerpiece Basket
We are offering this antique silver-plate Middletown Basket. We bought it a couple of years ago when we were looking for a frame for a Mount Washington glass bowl. We've since sold the bowl so its time to get rid of the basket. The Basket is 10" wide and 9" high to the top of the bail. It is signed Mddletown Plate Quadruple Plate and is numbered 1833. It is also marked Hard White Metal. The center of the basket has some floral engraving. Condition is fair. The metal has a nice patina but the basket seems out of round as if one side was pushed down. We are offering this with an opening bid that is below our cost and no reserve. Beautiful antique brides basket with silver plate base by the Middletown Plate Company of CT. Circa 1870's. Market Middleton Plate Co. Quadruple Plate. The company operated under this name until 1899 until it was taken over by International Silver Co. Excellent condition. No chips. Dings, scratches, repairs or damage. The mark on the bottom of the basket is an unknown mark, believed to once have been part of a museum collection liquidated by the owners in the early 1980s. Measurements are approximate: Stand is about 16 inches tall, basket is about 12 inches wide. I can obtain specific measurements if needed. No further information is known. Note: Items are part of a family member's estate. And are described to the best of seller's knowledge and opinion. Perform your own due diligence and ask any questions prior to bidding. This silver plate bridle basket sits on a pedestal that is designed with virtual lines that arch to form a wide band. Between each raised line is a pattern of fine horizontal lines to form a matt finish for the contrasting background for the raised pattern of leaves. Vines, arches, berries and buds. VICTORIAN MIDDLETOWN SILVER PLATE CO. - PINK CASED GLASS BRIDES BOWL or BASKET
Up for auction is a beautiful Victorian Berry or Fruit Bowl. Also known as a Brides Basket or Brides Bowl or Victorian Centerpiece bowl. This bowl is made from a beautiful rose or pink opaline-type glass cased with white glass and edged with gold or yellow translucent glass. This glass is sometimes referred to as peachblow but it is not. The edge of the bowl is ruffled and crimped. The bowl measures about 10" across at the widest and about 6" across at the narrow. It stands about 4" tall. The base of the bowl is 4.25" across at the foot. The bowl sits in a gorgeous silver plated frame made by the Middletown Plate Co. This frame is in wonderful condition. With almost no loss to the plate that I can see. There is residue from old lacquer and some light tarnish, but it should polish up nicely. The frame for this piece is ... morespectacular. It encompasses an apple at the top, cherries with stems and grapes. The detail on this is so finely done that it is a work of art in itself. The frame stands about 14.5" tall and is about 8.5" wide. The span between the handle(s) is about 7.5" approximately 3" up from the base. The base itself is 4.5" wide at the opening. I do not know if the bowl is original to the base as there is some play in the fit, but it does fit perfectly into the frame and when in place it sits well into the base so that it looks like a perfect match. The elaborate frame is a perfect compliment to the understated, but beautiful bowl. There is no damage at all to the glass; no chips, cracks breaks or repairs. The frame is clearly marked"Middletown Plate Co. and"Quadruple Plate" with the number 765 impressed. It is also stamped"Hard White Metal" Victorian art glass bowls such as this were often paired with elaborate brides basket frames(as they are called today) made by companies such as Meriden. Wilcox, James Tufts, Derby or Webster. I do not know who the maker of the bowl is. This could be a piece by Thomas Webb or one of the famous makers of

Estate auction find that was extremely tarnished. I polished it with Semichrome Polish and I think it will polish even more if you work on it. I wanted to make sure the plating wasn't worn off like some old pieces. It is in good shape except for a few dark flecks which will probably polish out and one spot underneath the basket that is either tarnished or worn off. The bail can be up or down. It measures 10" diameter. 7" tall or 14" to top of bail when it is up. Engraved on the bottom is a balance scale and Middletown Plate Co, Quadruple Plate, 1771, Hard White Metal. Antique Victorian era brides basket in very good condition with original glass basket that fits perfectly. It is approximately 12 inches tall x 10 inches wide. At widest point, handle of basket) The base of the silver plated basket is approximately 4.5 inches wide. The quadruple plated silver basket was made by the MIDDLETOWN PLATE CO. See mark in picture provided. I have included a bit of MIDDLETOWN PLATE CO. history below. There are also some numbers on the bottom of basket and part of the marking says, HARD WHITE METAL" I polished the basket prior to taking pictures so that you can see much of the silver is gone from years of polishing. But there remains a nice patina. The metal basket is sturdy and sits level. It has a beaded rope design with flowers and tassels on the handle. The base has flowers and what seems to be an Asian influenced ... moredesign. See pictures. The glass brides bowl is white with a teal color around the ruffled edge. When held up to the light the glass takes on a pearlescent look. See picture. It measures approximately 7 inches in diameter. It does have one barely noticeable chip in the glass. See pictures. Your eye is not immediately drawn to this and it does not detract from the beauty of the piece. This little basket is great to use for teas.
