A pretty antique Victorian silverplate large oval footed basket/bride's basket or bowl having a profuse& fancy repousse or embossed pattern of pomegranate blossoms& fruit with a quadrooned edge. Looks like a petite stamped pattern in the lightly textured& satin" finish background which makes the repousse design"pop" This is a large size& the hinged handle is appropriate to the size. Unmarked. Dating to the late 19C period. Measures approx. 11-3/4" long x 8" wide x 3-1/4" tall(not including the handle) Beautiful used condition. Some bends along the edge but not bad. A couple of tiny dings in the center embossed pattern, very small and they seem to coordinate with the footing work below so I think they occurred ... morein the making. I gave it a light polishing but it needs more, particularly to the under/outside surface. I leave additional polishing to the new owner if desired. The silver plating seems to be in very good condition, I'm not seeing evidence of much wear at all, very minimal& light surface scratching, nothing distracting. You are looking at a very special Victorian period wedding/brides basket or fruit basket.though a 100 years old it appears pretty much like new. Even the handle which on these items tends to get floppy after 100 years of use is still firm and stays where placed on its own. Other than needing a good silver polish I see no faults with this lovely piece. I have been selling silver for nearly 45 years and this is one of the best I've seen of this sort. While not signed with any company logo etc(which really puzzles me when I look at the quality)it is signed beneath the rim of the supporting pedestal-but that appears to be the marking of some ones estate etc? I can't answer that-other than to say it is a very nice basket. The basket is 4inches high(not counting the handle bail) and 10 1/2 inch diameter. There is no loss of silver on this piece, in excellent condition especially for its age. I believe this was made around 1910. This is a lovely antique silverplate Cake Basket made by Forbes in the mid to late 1800s. It has engraved decor around its border. A swivel handle, and a floral medallion in the center. The bottom has"striped" decor. It measures 11" x 9&1/2" tall. It is in real fine condition. There may have been something at the top of the handle(which has 3 round bands that join at the bottom. The inside measurement(where the bowl would sit)is 7&1/2" wide. This displays to great advantage.

Antique Silverplate Cake Basket, Swing Handle, Paw Feet, Acanthus Leaves
Recently acquired is this elegant antique silverplate swing handle cake basket. With paw feet and acanthus leaves in an open area decorating the top part of the basket. The top edge of the basket has beading and on each end are shells and wing-like decorations. Measurements: the approximate height(to top of the handle) is 10” the length is 13” and the width is 9 1/2” It is unmarked, so I do not know the origin of where it was made or the exact time period of manufacture. The style of the basket seems to be American Empire/early Victorian with the broad paw feet and acanthus leaves. This cake basket came from a local estate and the family representative indicated this belonged to a grandmother of the family. Condition: the top surface of the basket is quite good. With a couple of tiny dings to the flat inside surface. On the wing-like decoration ... moreat the end of the basket, one of the“wings” is missing a small piece along its top edge(this could well be original to the piece, see photos) The swing handle works well. The surface of the underside has a slightly more grey color appearance– I am not sure if this is original or if perhaps there was some attempt to put a protective coating on it. One paw foot is bent upward(very slightly) so that it does not sit perfectly flat and it raised slightly. The underside of the paw feet show wear which is what is expected of an old piece of silver. Description: This is a silver footed quadruple-plate Victorian bread or wedding basket made by the Bristol Silver Company. Pattern# 61283. Quadruple silver plating was the highest standard public grade. Bristol Plate Co is thought to be perhaps a trademark of the Poole Silver Co. the Poole Silver Company dates back to 1893. And was located in Taunton, MA. We could not track down the pattern name for this item, nor could we locate the approximate age, leading us to believe that this piece may be somewhat rare to find. Because of the design& style of this piece, however, we believe that it is from the late 1800s to early 1900s, but this is just our best guess. This gorgeous basket measures 11-7/8" long. 8" wide and is 2-1/2" to the rim. With the handle in the upright position, it measures approximately 9-1/4" to the ... moretop of the ornate handle. The bowl of the basket is ardorned with a delicate motif of open roses and scrolled leaves. The handle top shows a lovely daisy and leaf pattern that is topped with a center button. Condition: This beautiful silver basket has a very nice dark"patina" coloration) which is highly desirable among antique collectors. Which means that the darker patina gives the piece more value in the eyes of an antique collector. Though silver is beautiful when polished, many collectors prefer the that the patina to be left alone. Therefore, we are selling this item"as is" and we will allow you, the buyer, to decide whether or not you would like it polished. The handle is in wonderful operable condition and moves easily and will stay upright. And does squeak a little when raised, telling of its many years of use. This gorgeous vintage Silver Plate Basket by Sheffield is both numbered and has the Sheffield imprint and Shield. It is charming and unique with an oval shaped bowl. And octagonal edging with and triangular shaped pattern within the edges. The handleis sturdy. And both hinges work well. As you can see in the pictures that I have included this does need polished. And some of the golder color that is inside the bowl has worn away. Also. Very minor scuffs and overall this is beautiful. There are not many of these silverplate baskets left. They are getting hard to find. This is 10 inches tall with the handle extended. It is 9.5 inches wide from the longed oval ends and 8 inches wide from the handles end to end.

They were taped together and wrapped in plastic when we got them. The basket measures about 5-1/8" across the top of the bowl and the bowl is just under 2 inches deep. The basket measures about 4-3/4" to the top of the handle. It has a few small dents as shown. The basket has a wonderful cutwork handle and its bowl has fluted sides. As shown. The spoon is very elegant and is hallmarked. Although I cannot make out the hallmarks(please see the photos) It measures about 5-5/8" long and the bowl portion is about 2 inches long and about 1-5/8" wide. It is monogrammed with the initials"AM" on the back of the handle.

Vintage Silverplate Victorian Bride's Basket made by Simpson Hall Miller& Co. A unique engagement. Shower, or wedding gift. Makes a lovely centerpiece, candy dish, or fruit bowl. Listed for auction is a beautiful silver plate footed Victorian era"Bride's Basket" with an ornate handle and an intricate relief design of birds& foliage surrounding the rim of the bowl. It was made by Simpson Hall Miller. Probably in the early 1900's. I purchased this at an estate sale in Saratoga Springs, NY(a place known for it's Victorian homes& rich history) It was given to its previous owner as a wedding gift in the 1940's. The silver is tarnished and I will leave it up to the next owner to polish it. Measures 9 1/2" wide x 6" tall(about 12" tall when handle is upright) I am not an expert on silver plated ... moreitems but this Bridal Basket appears to be in very good condition(besides being tarnished) Only upon very close inspection did I notice that the lower edge of the decorative rim of the bowl is very slightly bowed in one area(in between where the ends of the handles are attached to the bowl) but. In my opinion, it is insignificant& doesn't detract from the appearance or condition of the basket. Wonderful Petite SilverPlate Reticulated Basket with Handle
This is a Wonderful Petite SilverPlate basket. There are Hallmark markings on the side of the basket where the handle is attached. I have taken pictures of this area. However I am not able to Identify the markings. The basket has a delightful reticulated upper portion. The handle has the same oval design. The handle does not have a stop but it can be balanced and upright position. The basket has a narrow base with a flared bottom. The body of the basket then flares up& outward at the top with this delightful design. The basket has a Victorian look. However I cannot identify the age. If you are knowledgeable regarding SilverPlate markings, perhaps you will be able to identify the Hallmarks of this piece. You may then have quite a collectible piece. If you happen to purchase this delightful basket. There are some minor dents to the exterior ... moreof the basket. And loss of the silverplate more so on the interior of the basket then the exterior. Additionally. It seems that someone used a rough sponge to clean the basket, as there are some fine vertical markings on the exterior. Please look at the pictures carefully. The basket is 6 3/4 inches tall including the handle hinge. It is 6 1/2 inches wide at the top and 3 3/4 wide at the base. The handle adds an additional 3 1/2 inches in height in the upright position. This basket was a gift to me several years ago. Therefore I do not have knowledge about its previous life. This wonderful basket would make a beautiful addition to your home, as a display piece or as a useful basket. I have not used this basket to hold flowers. However I feel it would make a delightful vase for fresh flowers. Perhaps some hard candies or even some pretzel type snacks. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me. Antique Quadruple Silverplate Serving Basket With Ornate Handle
Here is a quaint silverplate serving basket with ornate handle from the later 1800's. I couldn't find a trademark but it does say"Quadruple Plate" on the backside. Other than patina. It's in pretty perfect condition and needs to be cleaned. The leaf cutouts are elegant as is the angled handle. Antique Ribbed Silverplate Movable Handle Basket Bowl 10"
I've been asked to sell items for an estate. Offered here is an antique silver plate basket. I am told is from England. I found no markings. The basket stands on four feet and has scalloped ribbing. The handle moves up or down. It is 10 inches long by 7.25 inches wide. It is 2.25 inches tall. No dents or dings, but I did leave the patina intact so if you prefer, it will need a polish.
