Antique Rockford Silver P. Co. Quadruple Silverplate Brides Basket
Beautiful quadruple silverplate footed basket with bird handles. Someone else sold the same one on eBay a few months ago. They had it listed as a brides basket. I am not so sure since it is rather small for a brides basket. Thought it might be a condiment holder in which case the glass piece is missing. Either way. It is very pretty. I polished it as it was completely black when I found it. It will clean further but it took a lot of polishing to get it this clean. One foot appears to have been fixed. There are soldering marks along the top of the foot where it meets the rim of the base(see photos) Mainly evident from the inside but you can see a light excess mark along the rim on the outside. One scallop along the rim seems to be slightly pressed in(see photos) Circa 1900- 1925 Hallmark Rockford Silver P. Co. Quadruple 743 Measurements 3 ... more3/4" diameter(not including handles) 6 3/4" width including handles 2" height(to top of scalloped trim) 4" height including handles Racine/Rockford Silver Plate Co. Racine Silver Plate Company was located on the northeast corner of Second and Main Streets in Racine.Wisconsin. Then came the fire of May 5,1882, that destroyed seven square blocks of Downtown Racine. Attempts were made to move Racine Silver Plates’ materials to a safe uptown location, but the fire spread too rapidly. DESCRIPTION: This listing is for a beautiful silverplate/ basket. Item: I have seen items like this called Brides Baskets or Fruit Baskets. I’m not sure which is correct. Maker: Rockford Silver P. Co. Material: Silver Plate/ Quadruple Age: It is not marked but this type of silver plate was used at the turn of the century so I think it would be between 1888– 1915. The Rockford Silver P. Co. operated from 1 882– 1956. Design: Etched flowers in the“bowl” and applies flowers and leaves on the top rim. Measurements: ... more9⅛” diameter. 7½” tall with handle, 2⅝” tall not including the handle Condition: This is in good used condition. There is some light wear and a couple light dents in the base of the bowl and one on the rim. As you can tell in the photos it is in great condition for its age.
