Th ere is still some residue around the base of the feet. Please study the photos carefully. Before bidding, because they form part of the description. It came from a M assachusetts home. This is a Van Bergh quadruple silver plated basket with handle. The basket stands 2 1/2" high. With handle included, 5 1/2" It has an etched floral design and stamped on the bottom is 526 and the Van Bergh logo, Rochester, NY. Pretty old piece just needs a little polishing. The internal of the bowl has a ~ 4 ½” circular domed bottom surrounded by eight egg-like smooth swells to complete the design. The handle is a rod-like piece with ends attached to the body of the basket in an ornate rod and pinion assembly. Atop the handle is attached scrollwork. A georgeous antique Quadruple silver plate wedding/Bride's Basket by Van Bergh of Rochester. NY circa 1892-1900. It is marked in the very center of the bottom, Van Bergh Silver Plate Co, Rochester, NY with Guadruple plate in the middle. The design is a lovely basic floral design and the handle and feet are beautiful and ornate. The handle is movable, but not removable. The basket weighs 1 lb. 4 oz. and measures 8.5" x 11" x 8" in height. It will come to you polished. The residue you see in the photos is older paste silver polish which I will remove. I believe the designed element on the top of the handle as well as the decorative handle mounts on the edge of the basket are made of pewter. Basket could use good polishing. To really make it"pop" There is an area on the rim of the basket(approx 1/2 inch long) where I believe the plating may be worn away(see pic 10) which may or may not become more noticable if the piece is polished. Antique Van Bergh Silver Plate Cake Brides Basket C.1900 For your consideration is this antique silver plate cake brides basket made by Van Bergh Silver Plate Co. Circa 1900. Stands 9 1/4" tall to the top of the finial and measures 8 1/2" in diameter.the base is 4 1/2" in diameter. The top surface features both a shiny and burnished(non shiny) finish, very common in Victorian silver plate. The underside of the basket is shiny and the pedestal base is burnished. There is light silver loss present on the underside, but the burnished base is worn or it needs a bit more polishing. The basket has a slight tilt, 2 shallow pinpoint dings on the top surface and a dent on the top edge which doesn't show too much, see last picture. The dish is ornate featuring a hummingbird measuring 2.5 inches long from tail feathers to beak with no breaks or re-welds. The server once held a tiny pair of tongs which are no longer there so we have added a pair of our tongs which ... moreare in good condition. The glass bowl is not original to the server but does look good. The silver plate is shiny and there are no monograms. There are dings to the oval portion of the dish so please look before bidding. There is slight wear to the plate on the side ribbing but it is not objectionable. This piece measures 5" in diameter and stands 1 5/8" tall and 5.25" to the tip of the handle.

THE BRIDAL HOLDER IS STAMPED ON THE BOTTOM; VAN BERGH SILVER PLATE CO. ROCHESTER NY QUADRUPLE PLATE AND THE NUMBER 1231. THE BASKET/BOWL IS MARKED WITH THE GREEN STAMP SILESIA. THIS WONDERFUL PIECE WAS FOUND AT AN ESTATE SALE IN THE BOSTON AREA. JUST AS YOU SEE IT THE FRAME CONDITION IS GREAT.
