Quadruple silver plating was the highest standard public grade. The Poole Silver Company dates back to 1893. And was located in Taunton, MA. We could not track down the pattern name for this item, nor could we locate the approximate age, leading us to believe that this piece may be somewhat rare to find. This beautiful silver basket has a very nice dark"patina" coloration) which is often more desirable among antique collectors. Therefore. We are selling this item"as is" and we will allow you, the buyer, to decide whether or not you would like to polish it. This gorgeous basket measures 9" in diameter. And is 2-1/2" tall. The handle measures approx. ... more6-1/2" from the bottom inside of the basket. The center inside bottom of this basket has a beautiful delicate floral etching in the silver. The floral etching in the center is a eye-catching compliment to the gorgeous floral scalloped rim. See photos 1, 4& 5) The handle also does not stand up on its own. There is some light brown discoloration around the handle, on the handle, hinges and in some of the inside grooves of the intricate designs. Because of the dark patina, we are not sure if this discoloration is wearing of the silver plating, some type of corrosion, or just layers of dirt& grime. The decorative design of the handle also has what looks like a very faint greenish tint in several places. Which could indicate mild corrosion. I have for bid a large Antique 1800's Silverplated Centerpiece Handled Basket Bowl. It measures 11 1/4" in diameter and 3 3/4" from rim to bottom. It has beautiful etched floral Victorian Design inside the bowl and beaded design around the entire rim and down the center of the handle. The only markings I see on the piece are the number 755 scratched in two places in the metal on the bottom base. Very beautiful piece and would be a great centerpiece. It is in excellent condition. I find no chips nor cracks on the bowl. Bowl is marked"1565/3 P. 845" Ground pontil area similar to LOETZ. Dragonfly design. Highly detailed base. There is a very minor area of plating damage under the base bowl. Appears to be a production flaw and DOES NOT IN ANYWAY detract from the beauty of this piece. DETAIL IS EXCEPTIONAL. Measures about 12" high and 11" across. I am providing as m uch and as accurate information as I am capable. But if you ask what you need to know, then expect to tell me how to determine the answer. Dec. 19, 71. We believe the date to be 1871. The basket features angels or putti balancing the bowl on the basket on there wings and a finial on the top of the handle which appears to be a cat. The basket stands 15 inches tall to the top of the finial and 8.75 inches tall to the rim. There are no monograms or repairs and the design is excellent. Measuring 8 inches in diameter and 4 inches in heighth, it is footed with an intricate design of grapes, vines, and leaves. Vintage Reed & Barton Silverplate Figural Cake Stand--Bride’s Basket-Centerpiece
Beautiful vintage Reed& Barton silverplate pedestal cake stand. Brides basket, or center piece, about 6 1/2" tall to the edge of the bowl, about 12" tall with the handle in upright position. The pedestal is stepped& simplistic, heavy so as not to tip. The edge of the basket has moldings of swirling leaves& vines. The design inside the bowl are two bundles of bleeding hearts gathered together with ribbon-very Art Nouveau! The swivel bail or handle is tubular shaped and has a loop in the upper center with a leaf with high relief. On the bottom is a hand engraved number of 3745 and the letter V. It is also stamped GILT MED( PLATED REED& BARTON 3515. It is in very nice vintage condition, with tarnishing, fine surface scratches from use& storage and some tiny dings along the rim of the bowl. According to the Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers(Rainwater) The St. Louis Silver Company made its debut under that name in 1904. The company has no public record after 1912, which means they were in business only a short while. That means that not many pieces are on the market a century later. In the antiques market, rarity adds considerably to the value of an item. This listing is for a rare quadruple silver plated brides basket centerpiece. And it has the manufacturer's stamping of the St. Louis Silver Company. The basket is at least 100 years old. And will show wear to the plating and some scratches commensurate to age and use. The very center of the inside of the basket shows wear(see photos) and then the underside- which is very common in these pieces. ... moreI trust you can see what a stunning antique basket this really is. There's an area encircling the inside center of the basket that has a mild crease- as though the top were pushed down on the legs a little bit. I tried to photograph it. But it isn't showing up in the pictures well at all. The Aesthetic Movement design of the basket features florals. Acanthus leaves and(I think) a waterlily leaf at the top of the handle. The patterns are engraved and also utilized on the applied rim encircling the basket and on the swing handle. The legs of this basket are just fabulous, and epitomize the High Victorian flair. Overall the basket stands 9" high to the top of the handle. The widest area across the top of the basket measures 10-3/4" The manufacturer's stamping is located on the underside. This is an exquisite centerpiece to add to your collection. And just think of how beautiful it would be piled high with fresh-baked breads or pastries! I rescued this piece and now that I need to downsize. It is time to pass it along. The design is beautiful.really a stunning art deco design in the bowl. It also has a good weight so hold whatever very well. I like to use it for dessert.just served my biscottis in it. In fact. Marked on the bottom: triple plate and 73. I can't make out the maker's mark. I do think this is early art deco. Dimensions: 9" in diameter 6-1/8" to top of bowl(11" to top of handle) Condition: Has some areas of wear. But no pitting. There is a darker spot on the handle which may just be tarnish accumulated; I don't want to be too aggressive with the cleaning. This is an old Victorian or early 1900s grans showy large floor basket or centerpiece with hallmark from old estate. It is 19" tall and 11" across the mouth and the base is 6 5/8" by 5" It is very ornate with angels. Cherubs, urns and overall a very classical design. It weighs a bit over 3 pounds. The silver plate is in very good condition and all I see is a faint copper shadow under the silver on the inside edge rim about 3/4" wide. See me pointing. This is not worth noting. Antique Middletown Silver Plate Centerpiece Basket
We are offering this antique silver-plate Middletown Basket. We bought it a couple of years ago when we were looking for a frame for a Mount Washington glass bowl. We've since sold the bowl so its time to get rid of the basket. The Basket is 10" wide and 9" high to the top of the bail. It is signed Mddletown Plate Quadruple Plate and is numbered 1833. It is also marked Hard White Metal. The center of the basket has some floral engraving. Condition is fair. The metal has a nice patina but the basket seems out of round as if one side was pushed down. We are offering this with an opening bid that is below our cost and no reserve. Victorian Pairpoint Silver & Gold Plate Bride’s Basket or Centerpiece Stand
This is a wonderfully ornate silver and gold plated bride's basket or centerpiece holder. Made by Pairpoint. The sides are decorated with flowers. Some of which are gold plated. I have cleaned this to the best of my ability but it could use some more detailed cleaning. Please examine the photos closely as they best describe its condition.They do not do it justice! It was extremely dirty when I found it and every area I cleaned exhibited no plate loss. There is minor wear to the central"cup" for want of a better description. And the underside still needs more cleaning as shown, but it appears this is not quad plate, as the rest of the piece is. It is 15-1/2 inches at its widest point. Here's a Wonderful Antique Reed and Barton Silverplate Centerpiece Basket with Myriad Victorian Motifs. Offered at NO RESERVE! The basket has a Figural Egyptian Pharaoh Hound at the center of the base surrounded by four legs that terminate in Lion type heads. The perimeter of the basket is adorned with four medallions showing Knights and possibly Maidens in profile. Inside of the bowl there is ornate chased decoration of birds at fountains. The basket is in Good Condition; it needs polishing and until that is done it's impossible to say whether the plating is fully intact or not. Generally I've found if you want these old Victorian plated pieces bright and shiny, they need replating. Two of the chased birds must have had very little depth to the head decoration as it is worn pretty well, especially on one. And has been given a quick polishing(but could use further polishing) The finish is lovely, the plating is very nice, and it has a nice patina. The bowl features an ornate flower, butterfly, and classic fan center design, surrounded by an intricate floral basketweave pattern. Each of the 4 legs has a stork depicted one it. The handle raises and lowers with ease. There are a few slight bends in the scalloped edge, and the handle is a tad off center. Beautiful and large Reed and Barton bride or centerpiece basket measures 17" to top of handle and 9" in diameter. The figure measures 5/58" tall. The bottom is 4 1/2" in diameter. Marked Reed and Barton#712 and also#2120. There is the letter C inside the bowl and a solder repair underneath the top and inside the bowl. This is the same repair. The details are excellent in design. Fret work or cut work feet detailing storks and lovely raised floral display in the center along with etched design around the outer rim of the basket. The James Tufts Silver Plate Company was know for manufacturing only quality silver plate items and the basket is no exception. It stands 11 inches tall to the top of the handle, 3.5 inches tall to the rim and 10.75 inches wide from corner to corner. The handle is sturdy with no repairs and stands upright or can be folded down. There are no monograms and the silver plate is lovely as shown. There is a repair to the foot as can be seen in the ... morelast picture. The foot was not broken but the fret work was cracked. The repair reinforces the foot. The variation of colors on the ruffled bowl is beautiful and there is raised enameling inside and out. The bowl is free of any cracks or chips. The victorian silver plate centerpiece did have the top part that holds the bowl soldered back on to the piece as evidenced in the photos. This is a solid repair. However if you look under the piece or inside you can see the solder. This is not noticeable when the bowl is in place or when you are looking straight at the piece. It appears to be slightly uneven in the repair when you look at it from underneath, but with the bowl in place it is straight.
