Basket measures 11 ¼" long by 8 5/8" wide by about 4 inches tall. Basket is in fair condition with light scratching and some possible plate loss. Lovely design features heavily beaded edge, Greek key border and central floral design. Handle is still tight and has an engraved"B" at the top(Olde English style) Wavy, possible warped edge/rim. Above that is a 1/4 inch band of scrolling work going all the way around. The mane band of the body has large campus leaves some round leaves, large flowers, small flowers and vines. Then there is another 1/4 inch band of scrolling work. The band that holds the glass bowl has a deep stripe pattern all the way around. The C shape connectors that connect the handle to the basket has flowers inside and out and round balls that connect it to the basket ring.The handle is a twisted handle. This silverplate basket has so much going on. It was made by Meriden, and marked on the bottom with an applied piece of silverplate Meriden silver plate Co. The platter top graduates into a shallow recessed bowl and it has a quilted floral and foliage design and a top swivel handle, very pretty! While the piece is heavy and stands flat and sturdy with no wobble. The top does have some very slight warping(as per the second photo) very common of hand made pieces of the time. Stunning Antique Victorian Meriden B Company Silver Plate Brides Basket 1886. This Stunning Victorian Brides Basket is very different. There is a lot intricate engraving work on this basket makeing it extremely unique. There are engravings of leaves. Berries, and flowers on the basket. Then there is the wonderful intricate fan folded decorations with leaves and flowers in the fans. The edge of the basket is also intricately trimmed in leaves, flowers and birds. Victorian Silver Plate Brides Handled Basket Meriden Co. Antique Pedestal Bowl
A victorian silverplate brides basket bowl with pivoting handle. Made by the Meriden Company of Meriden Connecticut. Unpolished, No plating loss. No personal monogram present. Marked on the bottom with the traditional makers mark“Meriden B. Company. Quadruple Plate, 1887” Dates to the early 1900’s. Measures a full 10 inches in diameter. 4 3/4 inch base diameter, 5 1/4 inches to top rim and 12 1/2 inches to top of the handle. Condition is great as there are NO chips. Cracks, plating loss or repairs present, there is scratches in the well of the bowl and rim(see close-up photo) We accept PayPal. Visa and Master Card payments for shipping purchases. It is very ornate and stands approx. 10 1/2" tall to top of handle and is approx. 9 3/4" in diameter. Antique Ornate Aesthetic Floral MERIDEN Quadruple Silver Plate Bride's Basket
Here is a very ornate antique quadruple silverplate footed bride's basket from Meriden Company. It has embossed floral pattern on the inside. Decorative border and handle. There is some minor denting on the side rim which I think is from the handle hitting it. I love the openwork handle and hinge area. It measures about 9" wide and 4 1/2" tall, total height with the handle up is about 10" tall. I really don't see any noticeable or damaging silverplate loss or pitting.
