This fine antique Victorian circa 1870s large footed cake or brides basket by Meriden Silver Co. This large silverplate basket is ornately decorated with Hummingbirds and ivy vines around the ornate four footed base and also on the outer rim. The basket measures about 9 1/2" in diameter and stands 6" in height not including the ornate folding handle. With the handle extended the basket is 12" in height. The basket stands o n four fabulously ornate feet. The silver craftsmanship is excellent. There are no breaks or repairs. The only thing to note is some tiny dark spots on the interior bottom edge of the basket. see photos) This is marked for Meriden Silver Plate Co. Quadruple Plate. ... moreIt is numbered 1667. I have lightly polished th is piece to check for any silver loss or damage. The silverplating is still beautiful as this was always a cherished piece. Any further polishing will be left to the new owner. The Meriden Silver Plate Company was founded in 1852 by Charles Casper in Meriden. Connecticut, and was well known for producing a variety of different silver-plated items which ranged from wine coolers, pickle castors, napkin holders and much more. The company's silver items typically feature maker's marks with the company's name inside of a circular design. While their limited-edition silver items were marked with individual numbers. The company won a first place medal at the 1876 Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia thanks to their variety of silver-plated white metal hollow ware. The basket was made by Wilcox Silverplate Co. And it is made of Quadruple Silverplate in Meriden, Conn. Wilcox started making silverplate items in 1865, and they continued until they joined with Internation Silver in 1898. The basket has a scalloped edge, and around that edge is a scroll, rose, and leaf pattern. In the center of the basket is an ornately etched bird nest, and the top of the handle is monogrammed CMB. The basket has a four-footed base, and each leg has a Art Nouveau motif floral pattern. The model# 4751 basket measures 10 1/4" wide by 9 1/2" long by 5 1/2" tall. What an impressive beautifully detailed basket recently acquired at an estate sale. I am not an expert in silver or silverplate. But will describe as accurately as possible. It is marked Meriden B Company, pattern is un known to me. There is also the number 311 on one foot I have also pictured. Measures 10" tall, width 5 1/2" and the base opening is 3 1/8" There is detailed"beading" all over on the handle, and even tinier looking beading around the outer rim of the bowl. For accuracy only, I will mention that there is a teeney tiny"miss" smaller than a pin head that I have pictured on the rim and another area very small area where I can feel roughness. This is a gorgeous antique Victorian bride's basket compote bowl.the quadruple silverplate stand. Designed in the nature of the 1800's Aesthetic Movement, was made by the Meriden Britannia Company and it is signed, Meriden B. Company" on the bottom edge along with a number 241. The Early American Pressed Glass bowl that must have been designed for this stand precisely(or the stand for the bowl) is a clear glass, rounded canted straight sides with indentations on four sides.which line up with the indentations in the base of the stand. I do not know who the maker of the bowl was and the design appears to be some variation of a waffle or cane pattern with a waffle bottom. It measures between 9 1/2" 9 3/4" across the top and is 2 5/8" deep. It's in perfect condition, no ding's, no silver loss, no cracks, no tarnish& no pitting. Just beautiful. This was made by the prestigious Van Bergh Silver Plating Co. Rochester N.Y. It's marked Quadruple Plate#2. It's the perfect centerpiece size at 9" across and about 9.50" tall with handle up. Super with ... morefruit in it. Presented today is a Pairpoint silver plate Brides Basket Pedestal Footed Bowl. On the bottom it is marked with the traditional logo of Pairpoint and it says quadruple plate. Mfg co. The number on the bottom is 1203. There is another number that looks like a driver’s license number for identification. The piece measures approximately 2" tall and 9 1/2" across. With the handle upright it measures approximately 9 1/2" The piece is in fair condition with tarnishing and wear and tear from use. Polishing may help. Please see pictures for condition and details. Basket is a 10.5 x 7.5 rectangle rounded on 2 ends. Sculptural cutouts of Cherubs in trees with baskets picking cherries, beautiful detail. Inside bottom has a circle of leaves with a striped cat head and paws coming out of the middle. Very hard to see, almost missed it. Silverplate is in very good condition with loss of plating in a small spot on top of curved edge, last photo. Handle has 3D rose on top. It appears that the inner bowl rim has been pushed down over the footed base feet(you can see this in photos 1 and 3 for this detail) However, almost appears to be part of the design. The handle stem and Hinge outer small caps are brass tone- not sure if this is plate loss, or just the contrasted"Look" Most wear is noted to the underside bowl rim(see photos 5 through 8 for this detail) however again, not noticeable unless displayed bottom side up. 1903 ANTIQUE SILVER PLATED METAL BRIDES BASKET Footed Handle Heavy Flower Design
Beautiful silver plated brides basket. Antique dated 1903 along with the maker which I cannot make out-but there is a photo supplied for you& perhaps your eyes are better than mine& can make out this maker. It does have used vintage wear, some wear to the silver plate in places, not bad in my opinion& can be used as it is but please look at all photo's as they are part of the details& description. They flower designs are raised up& very detailed. It is footed& oblong in shape. The handle does not want to stay upright so needs tightening& possibly had a little flower or knob on top(see photo) or made the way as shown. What a great addition to any antique basket collection that still can be used& is so very different than most out there.

James W. Tufts Quadruple Silver Plate Brides Basket Footed with Floral Design
Up for your consideration is this lovely antique James W. Tufts footed circular plate or bowl measures 3 in high and across it is approx. 9 1/2 inches and the handle rises in the center to 5 1/2 inches when in raised position. The handle is very well attached at both sides On the bottom it has the James W. Tufts Boston info shown in the item's title with"Warranted Quadruple Plate" and the number 2768. What a stunning piece for a center piece on any table. The flowers included are a large cone flower. Wild roses, a large rose, daisies, sunflowers and pansies. The other designs are so beautifully etched in to blend with the floral design. The bowl/plate does not sit squarely on a table- it seems to slope to one side.

Antique Victorian HP Glass Brides Bowl, Ornate Reed Barton Footed Plated Basket
For sale is an ornate Victorian silver plated bride's basket with an exquisite scalloped-edge. Enamel painted glass bowl. The the bowl is white inside with blue hand painted butterflies and pale brown leaves, and pink outside with enamel painted butterflies and floral motif. This unmarked bowl measures 9 1/4" across at its widest, 3 1/2" at its tallest, and approx. 6 1/2" across the foot, which has a rough, slightly indented pontil. It is in very good antique condition: No cracks, breaks, or repairs. However, there is a 1/2" shallow chip where a spot in the rim comes to a point(see last picture) it is noticeable, but does not detract from the beauty of the bowl. I see a couple tiny pits and some pimples in the glaze, signs of having been manufactured more than a hundred years ago. There is also what looks like a light ... morepartial coffee-cup stain in the bottom of the bowl(go figure) The basket is marked on the bottom rim: MFG& PLATED BY REED& BARTON 3930. It stands 13 1/4" at its highest, 9 3/4" at its widest, and 6 5/8" across the inner part where the bowl sits. The holder has ornate metal work at the top and sides of the handle, and figural birds where they attach to the basket. There are two more birds(front and back) on the basket and all four birds form the legs/feet of the holder. There is ornate relief work around the portion that holds the bowl. The holder is in wonderful antique condition: The silver plate needs polishing(and there is some polish on the holder) but it appears to be mostly intact; no other conditions to report. This is no marriage; a beautiful, quality artifact from the Victorian period. CONDITION NOTE: All of our items are vintage or antique. Vintage Manhattan Silver Plate Co. Handled and Footed Brides Basket#562 Manhattan Silver Plate 1877 to 1898. Successor to Manhattan Plating Co. became a subsidiary of International Silver Co. in 1898 New York, NY USA Basket is 9 ¼”across. 3” high, 10 1/2’ high with the handle Basket has scalloped edge that curves down with gentle detail on the inside of the scallop. The handle has floral detail and folds down. The four feet have an intricate pattern. Originating in the mid-18th century. Ornate silver Brides Baskets once added a bit of elegance and prestige to victorian weddings and are still used by many southern brides. It would have been first carried by the flower girl in the ceremony. Then placed on the bride's table to hold her bouquet. Then found in a prominent place in the couple's new home. Today it could be used just ... moreabout anywhere you want to add a bit of elegance. From a wedding to a holiday party. There is very little tarnish and some fine scratches that would be consistent with its age but it is otherwise in good condition.
