The basket is very ornate with sprays of flowers surrounding a dedication to Mrs. Charles Buckley from her friends with a date of 1872. The basket is fantastic for its age with excellent details. There are two breaks to the decorations on the basket as shown in the pictures. I have polished this just a wee bit in order to show the details. The new owner can leave as is or polish it up, it has has a exceptional design deep floral engravings covering the top inside of the basket and a roman warrior medallion on each end. This quadruple bridal basket and matching blue glass bridal bowl were made in the early 1880's. The bottom is marked with Rogers& Smith Co- Meridan#1974 USA and etched with 37663-3. The basket itself is very detailed with bows and roses. The handle is engraved with what I believe to be a"Y" initial. The glass is a beautiful shade of blue with double crimping and a similar rose pattern. There are no markings that I can find on the glass itself and it is in mint condition with no chips or cracks. This has been a personal favorite in my collection of glass since purchasing it at an estate auction in Ohio back in 2005. Victorian Rogers Smith Co Meriden Silverplate Mt. Washington Glass Brides Basket
This lovely Silverplate and Enameled Art Glass Brides Basket measure about 10-5/8" in diameter and 3-3/8" tall when assembled. The Silverplate bottom has a bit of tarnish and maybe missing a handle. The mount was produced by Rogers. Smith& Co. around during the last quarter of the 19th century. The company was out of business by'04. We believe the basket was produced by Mt. Washington Glass co. It is unsigned. The glass has some enamel loss, but is largely in very nice condition with no chips or cracks. The bottom of the bowl does have a polished pontil as would be expected.

Meriden Antique Victorian Quadruple Silver Plated Cake Basket Circa Late 1800's For sale is a beautiful Victorian Meriden quadruple silver plated bride's or cake basket for use as centerpiece. Holiday, wedding banquet table, flower display, or for flower girls. Dimensions: 11" tall with handle fully upright position- 5" outside diameter. 3" from table to bottom of basket Victorian topped handle is very stable and stays in the upright position if you wish; the stand has a stepped pedestal foot. And a 3/4" wide relief decorated band around the basket. There are some scratches and silver loss commensurate with age. Antique silverplated brides/cake basket by Rogers Smith and Co.
Bride/ Cake Basket Roger Smith and Company Silver Plate Circ. 1867- 1902 Up for auction is a silverplate bride’s or cake basket by Roger Smith and Company. I believe it is in the Medallion Pattern which is very old. There appears to be very small almost pinpoint pit marks in the base of the“bowl of the basket. However the rest of the basket appears to be so mint one would think it had been re-plated. Overall the basket is in excellent condition commensurate with age. Please review the pictures. Rogers, Smith & Co. New Haven, Conn. Silver Plate Brides Basket, 1862-1877
This beautiful silver plate Bride or Fruit Basket. 1868 was manufactured by Rogers, Smith& Co. in New Haven Connecticut. The mark indicates that it was made between 1862-1877. This large oval basket measures 11 3/4" by 8 3/4" and stands 9" tall when the handle is up. The edges of the basket have raised detailed flowers that is repeated on the edges of the oval foot. The interior of the basket has a cut-out rim. Is raised in the center, and has carved flowers and fruit bouquets. There are a few light scratches consistent with it's age. But no dings or dents to otherwise mar it's beauty.
