Quadruple silver plating was the highest standard public grade. The Poole Silver Company dates back to 1893. And was located in Taunton, MA. We could not track down the pattern name for this item, nor could we locate the approximate age, leading us to believe that this piece may be somewhat rare to find. This beautiful silver basket has a very nice dark"patina" coloration) which is often more desirable among antique collectors. Therefore. We are selling this item"as is" and we will allow you, the buyer, to decide whether or not you would like to polish it. This gorgeous basket measures 9" in diameter. And is 2-1/2" tall. The handle measures approx. ... more6-1/2" from the bottom inside of the basket. The center inside bottom of this basket has a beautiful delicate floral etching in the silver. The floral etching in the center is a eye-catching compliment to the gorgeous floral scalloped rim. See photos 1, 4& 5) The handle also does not stand up on its own. There is some light brown discoloration around the handle, on the handle, hinges and in some of the inside grooves of the intricate designs. Because of the dark patina, we are not sure if this discoloration is wearing of the silver plating, some type of corrosion, or just layers of dirt& grime. The decorative design of the handle also has what looks like a very faint greenish tint in several places. Which could indicate mild corrosion. From my mother’s display cabinet. I am unsure of this pierced silver basket's original function but at 4" long x 3” wide, it works perfectly as an elegant little business card holder! While the maker is unknown, the underside is clearly hallmarked EPNS and MADE IN ENGLAND. Based on research, it dates to early 1900’s and is in good estate condition with no cracks or breaks or flaws in the openwork however there is some loss of plate commensurate with age. To me it appears to be silver plate over copper- or perhaps brass. The bowl of the basket looks as if most of the silverplate has worn off. Giving it a warm brass or light copper patina. The handle appears silver plated, as does the basket's underside. See photos. Measures approximately 6" long. 5" wide, 3/4" tall, and 3-3/4" tall with the handle up. The very detailed grape and leaf design is pressed from the back side. The handle has a 3-1/4" drop to the inside of the basket. Four ball feet on the bottom. The inside of the basket has 12 clumps of grapes and 20 leaves connected with vines and swirling tendrils. Down the center is a dainty and intricate cross shape. This small vintage hobnail bon bon bowl features a ruffled edge and is done in hand-blown cased glass. It measures approximately 7 inches across and 2.25 inches tall. Antique English Silver Lacy Openworked Bon Bon Basket or Bowl
From my mother’s display cabinet. I think this sweet little antique openwork bowl is supposed to be a Bon Bon Basket ~ regardless of it’s original function, an elegant piece whether alone or amongst others. Just under 4" square, each corner of the rim is graced with the head an angel or cherub. While the maker is unknown. The underside is clearly hallmarked MADE IN ENGLAND plus not-so-clearly EPNS. Based on my research, it probably dates to the early 1900’s and is in excellent estate condition with no cracks, breaks or flaws in the openwork and I find no loss of silver. Antique Silver Plated Sheffield Bon Bon Candy Plate. Basket I think this might be Old Sheffield. Possibly pre 1860, but I could not determine the maker. It has OCSC, Sheffield, and 38 X 32 engraved on the bottom in addition to a picture of a crown, a tower, and a rooster head. Bidders will need to make this determination. I believe it is silver plate over copper or brass. The plate measures 6 3/4" in diameter. It is about 4 1/2" tall from the base to the top of the handle. It is fairly heavy for its size. It is missing some of silver plating. Has been cleaned. But needs more detail cleaning. This item is from an estate and being sold as is. Silverplate Ornate Bon Bon brides basket/ sugar basket Hinged Handle
Beautiful silverplate piece. Not sure of its purpose but is very ornate. See pictures for the beautiful detail on this piece. No makers mark and no idea of the age. It does have swirl marks on the inside from use and cleaning. Weighs 1 lb 4 oz. handle is intact but loose enough that it won't stay up by itself. 7.5 in across from spot to spout. 3.75 across and 4 in high at the highest point of the bowl. 6 in to the top of the handle.
