Offered is this remarkable silver plated fruit basket or footed bowl made in New Bedford. Massachusetts, by Pairpoint. The patent date is Jan. 31, 1893. The piece is numbered 1249. This rectangular footed basket has a movable handle that has a design of apples with foliage and stems. The center of the basket also features an apple branch with apples and leaves. The rim of the bowl is fluted with the corners folded up. A chased design appears on the outside of the four corners of the basket. A pierced border encircles the bottom of the basket. The feet featuresflowers with a ribbon or banner. This piece measures 9.75 inches long(25 cm) and 8.25 inches wide(21 cm) It stands 8 inches high(20.4 cm) with the handle extended upward and 2.5 inches high(6.4 cm) from the table top to the rim of the basket. Quadruple silver plating was the highest standard public grade. Bristol Plate Co is thought to be perhaps a trademark of the Poole Silver Co. the Poole Silver Company dates back to 1893. And was located in Taunton, MA. We could not track down the pattern name for this item, nor could we locate the approximate age, leading us to believe that this piece may be somewhat rare to find. Because of the design& style of this piece, however, we believe that it is from the late 1800s to early 1900s, but this is just our best guess. This beautiful silver basket has a very nice dark"patina" coloration) which is highly desirable among antique collectors. Which means that ... morethe darker patina gives the piece more value in the eyes of an antique collector. Though silver is beautiful when polished, many collectors prefer the that the patina to be left alone. This gorgeous basket measures 11-7/8" long. 8" wide and is 2-1/2" to the rim. With the handle in the upright position, it measures approximately 9-1/4" to the top of the ornate handle. It is 11" across one way and 14"across the other way with the handles. With the handle raised it is about 11" high. It is in lovely condition with no dings, missing parts or other damage. This is a gorgeous antique Victorian bride's basket compote bowl.the quadruple silverplate stand. Designed in the nature of the 1800's Aesthetic Movement, was made by the Meriden Britannia Company and it is signed, Meriden B. Company" on the bottom edge along with a number 241. The Early American Pressed Glass bowl that must have been designed for this stand precisely(or the stand for the bowl) is a clear glass, rounded canted straight sides with indentations on four sides.which line up with the indentations in the base of the stand. I do not know who the maker of the bowl was and the design appears to be some variation of a waffle or cane pattern with a waffle bottom. It measures between 9 1/2" 9 3/4" across the top and is 2 5/8" deep. Quadruple silver plating was the highest standard public grade. Bristol Plate Co is thought to be perhaps a trademark of the Poole Silver Co. the Poole Silver Company dates back to 1893. And was located in Taunton, MA. We could not track down the pattern name for this item, nor could we locate the approximate age, leading us to believe that this piece may be somewhat rare to find. Because of the design& style of this piece, however, we believe that it is from the late 1800s to early 1900s, but this is just our best guess. This gorgeous basket measures 11-7/8" long. 8" wide and is 2-1/2" to the rim. With the handle in the upright position, it measures approximately 9-1/4" to the ... moretop of the ornate handle. The bowl of the basket is ardorned with a delicate motif of open roses and scrolled leaves. The handle top shows a lovely daisy and leaf pattern that is topped with a center button. Sheffield Pairpoint Silverplate Footed Basket with Pierced Design - 01298
This is a lovely footed basket. It was made by Pairpoint. And has both a Pairpoint and Sheffield mark on the base. The basket is rather flat in design, with the edges folded or rolled up. It has a beautiful pierced design covering most of the body of the basket. The handle is made of 2 strands, that separate at the top. The handles can be laid flat against the basket, allowing it to also be used as a tray. It measures about 8" by 8" and is 2.25" when handle is flat, and 6.75" when it is up. There are actually 2 different Pairpoint markings on the base along with Sheffield, and the number 01298. It is in excellent condition with no damage.

It is 14 1/4"H and 9 1/2"W. As you can see it needs a lot of work. Cleaning and polishing. One of the side details is missing but it works without it. The handle is straight and not bent. Up for auction is a lovely silverp lated basket. It is quite ornate with an airy appearance. I have used it for rolls before(just as one example) it makes a wonderful impression. The handl e collapses for easier storage. There are rounded feet on the curved bottom. There are quite a few dark ish spots on this piece. Because of the open nature. They are not as notic eable as they would be on a solid piece. I have tr ied to show them in the last three photos. But the flash tends to distort them. It measures 10 1/2 inches in length. Victorian Antique Meriden Quad Silverplate Footed Bride's Basket
Quadruple silverplate stand with cut glass bowl. Bowl is 8" in diameter and 2" deep. Not including the stem which fits into the base. Base span is 11"and it's 9" tall, and 5" across the footed base. Silverplate shows no signs of wear and needs polishing. The base is heavy and very ornate. The glass bowl has one very tiny chip(see last 2 photos) which is very hard to see. Bottom is marked"MERIDEN B COMPANY" with the number 186. The cut glass bowls were very popular in the 1890's but soon fell out of favor so they stopped making them in the 1890's. This particular one was made before 1896 as they stopped using the term"quadruple plate" in that year. This is a very beautiful and rare antique as not many of them were made and very few bowls have survived.
