The child and dog on each side are 2 1/2" tall and the flowers on the other two sides are a bit over 2" across. Unfortunately the handle has broken off and will need a metalsmith or something. But certainly a piece worth saving. The square base is about 6 1/4" across total. And the flat part in the center is about 5" across. Aesthetic decoration on the sides of the base. Stands 13 7/8" high x 13 3/4" wide. The diameter(where the glass insert would set) is 3 3/4" 91.33mm) Wonderful vine and floral design with a nude woman with long flowing hair on the base. Nice patina. Does show some old polish within some of the detail itself. Any cleaning will be left to the next owner. Recently acquired from a local estate is this wonderful antique silverplate footed bread basket with two handles and with ornate embossed or repoussed clusters of fruit and flowers. This basket can be used for serving bread. Rolls, muffins, fruit, or many other items at your dinner table or on a sideboard, etc. I think it would work especially well with fruit(e.g. apples, etc) It sits on four feet which are quite ornate. The basket is marked on the underside for the firm of Bruckmann& Sohne, Heilbronn, Germany, probably dating from the late 1800s or early 1900s. It is 13 5/8” long across the handles, 8 3/4” wide across the top, and 3 1/8” high to the top of the handles. Condition is generally good. There is some wear to the silver on the highest points(most likely from previous polishing) And there is a very slight wobble(side to side) ... morewhen it is sitting on a flat surface(but it fairly minor) I did not polish it, so it does need a polishing. Quadruple Plate, with a lion in the center and the number 1633 and also an A stamped. 10" diameter x 6-1/2" high to the top of the bowl. Close to 14" high with the handle up. Condition is fair overall. Inside the bowl the plating has worn a little thin and there are many fine scratches which confuse the appearance of the birds and flowers to a degree. The banding looks fine. The plating on the handle has worn off in places. Exposing the brass underneath. Aside from that, I would say the plating has worn a little but not badly. The piece is a little tarnished as well. I found it a little hard to tell if it is straight and level everywhere, and I tweeked it a little in a couple places, so I'll just say that it looks fine to me now, but you may have a better eye. If so, then you can just bend it the way you want it. All that being said. It is a pretty piece in my estimation, and well worth owning or restoring if you have that ability. As asset liquidators. I have cleaned it with a silver polishing rag. This piece measures 2.5 inches to its highest point. With the handle up it is about 9 inches. It is 10 1/8 inch at its widest point. Silverplate HANDLED& FOOTED BREAD BASKET handle and rim have floral pattern + cut-outs ~~ bottom has"ribbed" sections(see photos) 4 smaller feet on bottom approx 12.75 inches at longest. Approx 6.75 inches at widest, approx 6 inches at tallest Item is in fairly good condition- no bends or dents noted; handle is a bit loose; some signs of wear noted from use. Mostly some utensil/ polishing scratches- item has not been cleaned or polished since purchase, remains of price sticker noted + some small areas of tarnish no maker's mark noted ~~ circa 1920's? A beautiful antique quadruple plate brides basket made by James Tufts in Boston approximately 1880-1892. Has birds. Butterflies, dragonflies, and flowers. No dents or bends that I can find. Approximately 9.5" wide and 10" tall. Clearly marked. This is not a reproduction. Very collectible. Can be polished or left the way it is. No international shipping.
