A beautifully ornate bridal basket from Forbes Silver Company. It is marked with the company seal and the number 200 on the bottom. It has a nice leaf and flower design etched into the surface with a raised inlaid flower design edge. The handle resembles grape vines with leaves and fruit. Was going to polish but think the patina gives it a wonderful antique feel. There is some surface scratching and a few small dings but nothing major. Its diameter measures 8-1/2 inches.

The internal of the bowl has a ~ 4 ½” circular domed bottom surrounded by eight egg-like smooth swells to complete the design. The handle is a rod-like piece with ends attached to the body of the basket in an ornate rod and pinion assembly. Atop the handle is attached scrollwork. There are No Visible Indications of Plate Loss. Erosion/Rust, Cracks/Chips to the Top Surface, Handle and Legs! The top side interior surface displays a few light dark spots. However, I believe additional light polish will remove these. The handle rod/bar is of a brass coloration- not silver tone. And not sure if this is supposed, however, a lovely contrast nevertheless! The handle finial is in an very good condition! The normal vintage wear due to years of use ~ light scratches and scuffs. Vintage Silver Plated Forbes Silver Co. Quadruple 206 Bride's Basket / Plate
Antique Quadruple Silver Plated Brides Basket or Plate produced by Forbes Silver from sometime between 1898-1935 based on my research. Lovely detailing on handle. Around edge of basket and base. Has"Forbes Silver Co. mark along with"Quadruple" and"206" on bottom side on piece. No personalized engravings. There is a flower and fern design etched into the center of the plate/ basket itself. The edge trim is not completely flat all the way around, I'm not sure if it is slightly wavy by design or if it has a couple of slightly bent places. Nothing appears broken and none of the trim looks stressed. The handle moves freely. There are some scratches, discoloration and the whole thing is tarnished. Size is approximately 10" across, base is 2" from bottom of piece to top of handle measures 8" This piece ... moreneeds some TLC by a knowledgeable person who is more familiar with silver plate than myself. This basket does have some chips on the glass bowl. I have shown these in the pictures. It is marked with the oldest Forbes stamp on the bottom of an eagle in a circle with"FORBES SILVER CO. Quadruple" around the circle. Please see pictures. The bowl is detached from the silverplate base. The silverplate base is in good condition. The bowl is a wonderful pink colored glass with flowers. Hallow ware. Has hearts hallowed out at base of handle. Silver plated marked 4823 patent no. 72881 Some of the research said that pieces like this were used for several reasons. One being used in hotels with flowers resting in basket as decoration. Wonder where this one has been? I would say this piece is in good condition considering its age. Has marks and slightly bent in places. Measures about 18 1/2 inches high about 13 1/2 inches wide about 8 inches deep. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks!
