This is a Meriden-Brittania Co. Quadruple Silverplate Bridal Basket. Circa 1860-1870's. It bear the mark of Meriden-Brittania Co. and the number 1742. It is 5.50" tall. 10" in diameter and features three finely detailed feet and arched handle. It will need to be polished. I found this beautiful basket about 50 years ago in the basement of a Victorian Italianate house I restored. I am downsizing and want to find a good home for it so it can be displayed and enjoyed.not stuck away in a box as I have had it for the past 50 years. I received this lot from an estate inheritance. It is a very nice Victorian Antique Quadruple Silver Plate Bridal Basket with Ornate Detailing. We believe this to be a Regence or a Regal Brand manufactured Bridal Basket[the hallmark on the bottom is visible and clearly exists but is different to read part of the print-there is definitely a crown hallmark on the bottom though] The number on the bottom of the bowl is 202. There is ornate footed detailing and an ornate handle with engraving inside the bowl itself[see pictures] The motif design is floral. Hallmark(stamped on the bottom of the stand) Middletown Plate Co. Quadruple Plate 1771 White Hot Metal- Includes a stamping of a set of scales Measurements- Height- 7" plus another 7" if the handle is extended Across- 9-1/2" Depth- 2" Condition- My practice is to polish the silver items that I am listing to be better able to identify anything that you would need to know. Please review photos very carefully. As this item has some damage as is often the case on an item of this vintage. This item is not perfect. There is a significant scratch across the base of the bowl and up into the decorated portion. This is a cut that can be felt with the ... morefingernail. Not a surface scratch. There is a 1/8" cut on the upper edge of the bowl that I was not able to photograph. There is a small ding(but not through the silver plate) on the bottom edge of the stand.
