This is a beautiful hand engraved quadruple plated bridal basket from James W. Tufts between 1875-1892. This piece#2763 is 8 1/4" square x 3 1/2" tall or 9 1/2" tall with the handle up. Due to the age of the item. There are scratches and tarnish but the item still holds it beauty. The bottom is in perfect shape. This item will make a fine present to a soon to be bride or a fancy addition to a table!

Antique Hobnail Glass Victorian Pickle Castor James W. Tufts Co. This beautiful Victorian Pickle Castor measures 10.5 inches tall from base to top of ornate handle. The opal to cranberry hobnail glass jar measures 4.5 inches without the lid and 6.5 inches with the lid. The base has a button pattern completely around the base. On top of the jar is a silver plated lid with a footed knob. The handle is also decorated with a sliver plated beads on the handle. The handle comes down to a scroll on either side and a upside-down daisy is in between the scroll. A pair of ornate tongs hangs from a hook on the side of the handle. Up For Your Consideration is this Antique James W. Tufts Quadruple Plate Bridal Basket! The basket has a very nice scroll pattern on it. The bottom of the basket is stamped JAMES W TUFTS. QUADRUPLE PLATE, BOSTON, WARRANTED, 4302. The basket measures 9 1/2" x 9 1/2" at the widest sections. The handle measures 6 1/2" tall from the flat square section of the basket to the center of the handle. The whole thing measures about 7 1/2" to 8" tall from the bottom feet to the top of the handle. This fine antique Victorian circa 1880s large footed cake or brides basket by James W. Tufts of Boston. This large silverplate basket is ornately decorated with Birds and a Butterfly among the flowering branches and leaves. The entire interior of the basket is covered as pictured and has a gorgeous fluted edge. The basket stands on four ornate feet and has a fold down handle. This basket measures about 9 3/4" in diameter and stands 3" in height not including the ornate folding handle. With the handle extended the basket is 10" in height. The silver craftsmanship is excellent. There are no dings. Dents breaks or repairs, The quadruple plating is in very good condition and I see little ... moreif any losses. This is marked for James W. A truly elegant silverplate swing handle brides basket or bowl. It was manufactured by James W. Tufts of Boston. MA between 1875 and 1891. It is marked Quadruple plate, and is numbered both 2769 and 35. The center of the bowl depicts a mermaid admiring herself in a mirror held for her by a cherub or putti. There is abundant floral decoration including roses, and the bowl rim and handle are decorated in a heart design. The entire piece is done in elaborate repousse in the rococco style. Is highly ornamental with footed base.there is a repair on one of the side swags. The bowl is hard to describe color wise, as there is a pink hue to the glass that does not show up in the photos.the bubbles are felt on the inside of the glass. ANTIQUE JAMES TUFTS of BOSTON SILVER PLATE BRIDES BASKET - BOWL - CASTOR FRAME
Up for auction is a beautiful and LARGE brides basket or brides bowl frame made by James W. Tufts of Boston. MA. Tufts was one of the best manufacturers of this type of fancy Victorian goods during the late 1800's when these were in high fashion. This piece is large and is just beautiful and in wonderful condition as well. There is minimal to no loss at all to the silver plate. The piece stands about 17" tall overall. The base or bed has a dimpled pattern which gives it added character. This is 5.5" across. The two side pieces have a width of about 6-1/8" The width of the handles at the widest is 8" Interior. The height from the base or the bed to the underside of the top of the frame is 10.5" The four legs have storks or herons and there are also acanthus leaves adorning the frame. Tufts" and"Boston MA" with the number 131 and"Warranted" It's also marked"Quadruple Plate" This frame is very versatile in the fact that it does not need to be paired exactly to your favorite glass bowl's base. This piece is designed to accommodate almost any size piece of antique glass. Porcelain or pottery by simply sitting on the base. This allows it to display a variety of your pieces rather than try to match the diameter of a bowl's base to the frame's. It's ornate enough to compliment any piece displayed as well. These frames were often paired with plain or enamel art glass bowls by famous glass houses of the 1800's like Mt. Washington. Hobbs Brockunier and Stevens& Williams. You could also use this as a frame for a large vase, pitcher or castor. It's very versatile because of the design and construction. Tufts was a premier maker amongst his contemporaries like Meriden, Wilcox, Derby, Pairpoint and Rockford Silver Co. Fresh New England estate find: James W. Tufts silver plate basket. Not cleaned and raw. 10" wide 2 1/2" tall. 9" to top of handle. Handle slightly bent and would need re straightened.
