Absolutely Stunning Pairpoint Bride's Basket Quadruple Plate#B1210. Dimensions are: 11.5" in length. 7" wide and 3 inches high. Excellent condition. Lightly polished so I could determine condition. There is no loss of silver on this piece, in excellent condition, especially for its age. I believe this was made around 1910. There is one scratch on the inside but due to the quality of the quadruple silver plate, it does not go through to the base metal, see picture 10. Marked on the bottom, Pairpoint mfg. This is a darling little basket made by Pairpoint Mfg Co sometime between 1880-1894. It has a delicate design with a beaded rim followed by a border of 1/2 moons. Then vertical slats, all on a footed square base with pedestal. This is an especially elegant and collectible piece. The basket is hallmarked"Pairpoint Mfg Co. Quadruple Plate, 2070" Quadruple plate means that 4 times as much silver was used in the plating process resulting in a nicer patina and better durability than in conventional plating. The inside of the bowl has a gold wash which has become a copperish gold wash over the years. The rim is crimped. The handle is removable and on the underside of the basket bowl are the initials"EPM" or" GPM" and above the initials are 3 tower like structures made of bricks. This could be a Danish piece of silver plate since I could not find the 3 towers mark on any other silver plate marks except Danish silver plate. The measurements of the basket bowl are 6 and 1/2 in. long and 4 and 1/2 in. wide. From the bottom of the bowl to the top of the handle is 6 and 1/2 in. tall. The handle moves freely. The basket has a footed base with more beading along the foot. This lovely basket is 12" long. 10" wide, and about 4" tall. This appears to be silver plate over brass as a brass color shows through in multiple areas. The floral design along the inside rim appears to have purposefully have the brass color showing through. A magnet does not stick to this item. The underneath rim as a mark of J C with a star between the two letters, and the number 855. This basket has no damage but could stand a good polishing. Victorian Meriden Silver Plate Pedestal Basket. Handle, Woman On Tiger 1875-1890 Presented is a great Victorian piece of American silver plate. It is a pedestal footed basket with a swing handle. Made by Meriden. The bowl has very unusual designs showing a bare-breasted woman reclining on a tiger. The front end of the tiger is all tiger. But its back end is serpentine. The woman is holding up a cup of some sort of libation. They are resting in a lush leafy setting. A two-tiered floral border encircles the bowl. And a floral motif finishes off the handle. The dish stands at just under 6 inches tall. With the handle upright. It reaches to 7 2/8 inches. Please scroll down to see our photographs. The base is marked for Meriden B. Company. Whose full name was Meriden Britannia Company, Connecticut. The piece dates to 1875-1890. A pattern number ... more1786 is stamped underneath. The swing handle does not stay upright. But this could be adjusted professionally by the buyer to make it do so. There is a little wear to the plating the bowl. And more substantial wear to the plating on the underside of the bowl. The wear is not noticeable with how the bowl stands. There are no dents, no dings, and no other problems of any kind. The piece is in good condition, especially for its age. Here is an antique Victorian silver plate swing handled bridal basket. This pierced or reticulated as well as molded and applied grape& leaf basket has all the bells and whistles of a Martin Hall made piece. This large 12 inch diameter basket. 9 inch tall to top of handle, and basket itself is 3 1/4 tall. Although its unmarked, the applied grape& leaf border is so intricately done, it was done by master craftsmen. Incredible relief to it. Weighing 1.13 lbs. this heavy piece looks so delicate, I tried photographing it in day light) There is an expert repair to the handle which is only visible on the underside of the handle. This silver plated basket was made in India. It’s base is a round pedestal with flower pedestal style sides going up to the scalloped top rim. At each side where the handle is attached is a cluster of grapes and a large leaf. The handle is shaped like a rolled ribbon or a rolled rope that has been flatten for ease of holding.
