Size: 10.5" wide x 9.5" long and 11" high to top of handle. Condition: very good with little to no wear to silver plate and no scratches or repairs. There is a very light raised dent in center above pedestal base(not obvious really) that prevents the basket from sitting perfectly flat. This listing is for a two piece silverplate and glass brides basket bowl. The bottom of the silver plated holder reads Meriden Silverplate Co. 0719. As seen in the pictures. This piece stands about 7 1/2" high to the top of the glass bowl portion and measures 10 1/4" across the top rim. The silverplate holder is very ornate, with the handles resembling a branch with birds resting on them. A bird pattern is also repeated just above the basefoot. The peg bottom glass bowl has a scalloped rim and a frosted flower(rose? and ribbon pattern. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. There are a few white specks in the glass that are ... moreas made. There are also a few air bubbles and straw marks in the glass that are as made. The silver plate frame has no dents and no splits. The frame could use a gentle cleaning and does have some residue of polishing paste in the pattern. Insurance and delivery confirmation are included in the shipping total. Victorian Aesthetic Silver Plate Jewel Casket Jewelry Box Meriden B. Co. C. 1880
Victorian Aesthetic Period Silver Plate Jewel Casket Jewelry Box Made by the Meriden Britannia Co. Of Meriden, Conn. C.1880. The round box is set in a frame formed by the legs and bail handle. The box is densely decorated on its lid and sides with birds of paradise among ferns, foliage and flowers in repousse. Crowning the box is a full figure cockatoo with out spread wings. The interior is gilded. The ingenious design of the bail handle allows it to lock the lid in the open position so the lid does not fall back, as a safety, there is also a scrolled stop on the back of the box that prevents the lid from falling all the way back and possibly toppling the box should the handle not be engaged. The silver plating is intact, it was extremely tarnished and I labored mightily to bring it to the state shown. Detailing on the legs, the underside ... moreand other small areas is still required. The gilt interior is 95% intact with expected scratches from use. I see one ding on the exterior, its on the lid, on the band above the rolled edge and to the right of the ball knob, no other dents. The cockatoo is magnificent with detailed plumage. The back leg is out of alignment, as it is white metal I made no attempt to straighten it, some things are best left alone. Meriden B. Co. was in business from 1852 til 1898 when it joined several other silver plate firms to create International Silver. The casket is 6 1/2' tall, to the top of the cockatoo, 6" wide across the legs and the box itself has a diameter of 4 1/2" Please take a good look at the photos, they constitute the remainder of our description. It is 9 1/2" tall. 9 3/4" across and has an opening f or the bowl about 1 3/4" deep and 8 5/8" across. The bottom the bowl sits on is 5 3/8" across. Victorian Silver plated brides basket / calling card holder Meriden silver plate
Silver plate brides basket or perhaps a calling card holder. Piece has sort of bright cut floral pattern. I have included a photo of the Meriden mark. Piece measures about 6&1/2 inches wide at widest and stands about 4 inches tall. Piece is in very good used condition. There are a few dents and some slight scratches but overall pretty good. It's pretty dark. So it will be up to you whether it gets polished or not. Take a good look at the photos as piece is being sold as-is.

This brides basket is incredible and beautiful! PLEASE LOOK AT ALL 12 PICTURES)The basket sits on four rounded feet that are decorated with scrolls. Flowers and tiny leaves. Above that is a 1/4 inch band of scrolling work going all the way around. The mane band of the body has large campus leaves some round leaves, large flowers, small flowers and vines. Then there is another 1/4 inch band of scrolling work. The band that holds the glass bowl has a deep stripe pattern all the way around. The C shape connectors that connect the handle to the basket has flowers inside and out and round balls that connect it to the basket ring.The handle is a twisted handle. This silverplate basket has so much going on. It was made by Meriden, and marked on the bottom with an applied piece of silverplate Meriden silver plate Co. No 7017 and a lion holding a ... moretrophy in the middle, this mark dates it to(1869. There is no silver plate missing and no broken metal. This piece was sealed years ago to keep it from turning black, it can be removed by soaking in hot water over night then peal off. The glass fluted bowl was made by L.G.WRIGHT IN 1937. And it is marked with a M with a line in a circle.L.G. Wright Glass Company of New Martinsville, West Virginia, started selling glassware in 1937. Founder"Si" Wright contracted with Ohio and West Virginia glass factories to make popular pressed glass patterns, like Rose& Snow, Baltimore Pear, and Three Face, and opalescent patterns, like Daisy& Fern and Swirl. L.G. Wright items are marked with an underlined W in a circle. The bowl is a daisy and fern pattern it is opalescent and very ice blue. The glass is bright and the pattern is clear. NO monogram present. Measures a full 12 1/4 inches to the top of the bail handle. The bowls edge is 10 inches in diameter(8 inch inside diameter) and 5 1/4 inches tall. Victorian Meriden Silver Plate Pedestal Basket. Handle, Woman On Tiger 1875-1890 Presented is a great Victorian piece of American silver plate. It is a pedestal footed basket with a swing handle. Made by Meriden. The bowl has very unusual designs showing a bare-breasted woman reclining on a tiger. The front end of the tiger is all tiger. But its back end is serpentine. The woman is holding up a cup of some sort of libation. They are resting in a lush leafy setting. A two-tiered floral border encircles the bowl. And a floral motif finishes off the handle. The dish stands at just under 6 inches tall. With the handle upright. It reaches to 7 2/8 inches. Please scroll down to see our photographs. The base is marked for Meriden B. Company. Whose full name was Meriden Britannia Company, Connecticut. The piece dates to 1875-1890. A pattern number ... more1786 is stamped underneath. The swing handle does not stay upright. But this could be adjusted professionally by the buyer to make it do so. There is a little wear to the plating the bowl. And more substantial wear to the plating on the underside of the bowl. 1890's Victorian Silver-plated Footed Cake Basket with Cherubs Meriden Britannia Co. This is an 1890's Victorian silver-plated. Quadruple plate, elaborate designed cake basket with cherubs in the garden. The very top of the cake basket has two large round medallions on either side of the basket top with cherubs and applied lizard and a branch with fruits on the opposite side. It is marked on two of the feet’s bottoms"Meriden B. Company-1845" a pattern number) a shield with the scales inside) and the opposite feet with the name of the company and“Quadruple” It measures 12”long. 8 ¾” wide and 3 ¾” high not including the handle and weighs 2.7 pound before packing. It’s in good condition without visible loss of silver and just few scratches on top as can be seen in the close-ups. It needs extra polishing.

We were fortunate to purchase several cake baskets from an individual who collected them for many years. We have sold several and are listing another for sale this week. This gorgeous cake basket was manufactured in the Victorian Era by the Meriden Silver plate Company founded in Meriden, Connecticut in 1869. The company manufactured some of the most outstanding pieces for the Victorian home which are very popular with collectors today. Victorian Meriden Co Silver Plate Brides Basket w/ Figural Feet & Cased Bowl
Up for auction is a fantastic victorian silver plate figural brides basket by meridan silverplate co. No 7015 with a gorgeous cased bowl which is also marked with the numbers 1023/9 700. Silverplate basket is in excellent condition. Bowl does have an age crack which can be seen from the inside only. The crack is long and at one point in time some dark spots formed under the inside surface near it. There is also four figural feet on the silverplate bowl. This is part of an estate and the bowl& basket have been together a very long time. The crack can only be seen on the inside not from the outside. It can also be seen on outside bottom of bowl. Both pieces look beautiful together. Basket overall measures 13" high x 11" across.
