Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This is a silver footed quadruple-plate Victorian bread or wedding basket made by the Bristol Silver Company. Pattern# 61283. Quadruple silver plating was the highest standard public grade. Bristol Plate Co is thought to be perhaps a trademark of the Poole Silver Co. the Poole Silver Company dates back to 1893. And was located in Taunton, MA. We could not track down the pattern name for this item, nor could we locate the approximate age, leading us to believe that this piece may be somewhat rare to find. Because of the design& style of this piece, however, we believe that it is from the late 1800s to early 1900s, but this is just our best guess. This beautiful silver basket has a very nice dark"patina" coloration) which is highly desirable among antique collectors. Which means that ... morethe darker patina gives the piece more value in the eyes of an antique collector. Though silver is beautiful when polished, many collectors prefer the that the patina to be left alone. Therefore, we are selling this item"as is" and we will allow you, the buyer, to decide whether or not you would like it polished. This gorgeous basket measures 11-7/8" long. 8" wide and is 2-1/2" to the rim. With the handle in the upright position, it measures approximately 9-1/4" to the top of the ornate handle. The bowl of the basket is ardorned with a delicate motif of open roses and scrolled leaves. The handle top shows a lovely daisy and leaf pattern that is topped with a center button. The handle is in wonderful operable condition and moves easily and will stay upright, and does squeak a little when raised, telling of its many years of use. There is one very small ding-less than a 16th of an inch- see photo eleven-upper right quadrant where the bowl rounds up to the rim) but other than this one small ding, there no other dents, dings or tears to the metal and no evidence of corrosion. English) Silverplate Bread/ Fruit Basket- 3150 A1 EPNS. This lovely oval basket stands approximately 9" tall to the top of the handle. Is a bit more than 13" wide and is 9" across. The basket itself is 3" to the lip at its low point by the handle connection, curving up to 4" on the ends. This height includes the pedestal base. It has lovely cutwork of narrow rectangles marching on end that repeats as 3 separate bands(twice on the basket and once upon the pedestal. Additionally there is a leaf like band of cutwork that separates the two marching rectangles bands on the basket. The lines of the basket are clean with subtle curves. Description: This is a silver footed quadruple-plate Victorian bread or wedding basket made by the Bristol Silver Company. Pattern# 61283. Quadruple silver plating was the highest standard public grade. Bristol Plate Co is thought to be perhaps a trademark of the Poole Silver Co. the Poole Silver Company dates back to 1893. And was located in Taunton, MA. We could not track down the pattern name for this item, nor could we locate the approximate age, leading us to believe that this piece may be somewhat rare to find. Because of the design& style of this piece, however, we believe that it is from the late 1800s to early 1900s, but this is just our best guess. This gorgeous basket measures 11-7/8" long. 8" wide and is 2-1/2" to the rim. With the handle in the upright position, it measures approximately 9-1/4" to the ... moretop of the ornate handle. The bowl of the basket is ardorned with a delicate motif of open roses and scrolled leaves. The handle top shows a lovely daisy and leaf pattern that is topped with a center button. Condition: This beautiful silver basket has a very nice dark"patina" coloration) which is highly desirable among antique collectors. Which means that the darker patina gives the piece more value in the eyes of an antique collector. Though silver is beautiful when polished, many collectors prefer the that the patina to be left alone. ORNATE Antique Silverplate Bread/Fruit Basket, Victorian Style, Fruits/Flowers
Recently acquired from a local estate is this wonderful antique silverplate footed bread basket with two handles and with ornate embossed or repoussed clusters of fruit and flowers. This basket can be used for serving bread. Rolls, muffins, fruit, or many other items at your dinner table or on a sideboard, etc. I think it would work especially well with fruit(e.g. apples, etc) It sits on four feet which are quite ornate. The basket is marked on the underside for the firm of Bruckmann& Sohne, Heilbronn, Germany, probably dating from the late 1800s or early 1900s. It is 13 5/8” long across the handles, 8 3/4” wide across the top, and 3 1/8” high to the top of the handles. Condition is generally good. There is some wear to the silver on the highest points(most likely from previous polishing) And there is a very slight wobble(side to side) ... morewhen it is sitting on a flat surface(but it fairly minor) I did not polish it, so it does need a polishing. These wire bread baskets were owned by one person and I believe were purchased in the 1940s or 1950s. They are in very nice condition. With no discernible dents or dings, very little tarnish and only slight scratches- essentially, what one might expect with their age. The oval basket measures 11x8x3 inches and the round one measures 9 1/2 inches in diameter around the top and 6 inches in diameter around the base. It's about 3 3/4" high. The markings on the bottom of the oval basket: the words IMPORTED FROM ITALY BY GORHAM, then a symbol of an anchor, then the letters E and P, then YC 743, then PLATED IN U.S.A. The round basket is the same except the number is 742. These are simple enough to go with any silver service and could easily be used on a formal table with china.
