It measures 17 3/4 inches long by 13 3/4 inches wide and weighs 4 lbs 11 oz(shipping weight 7 lbs) Condition: excellent. No chips. No cracks, very little wear. One of the most collectible plate motifs for over 150 years, a Bowl, handled Serving Dish/ Platter, Pin Dish and candy dish bearing the proper makers mark of Alfred Meakin these marks are the 1891-1896 stamps, as Ltd. was added in 1897. Alfred Meakin was born in 1848, the last of 4 sons fathered by fabled English potter James Meakin. His father passed when Alfred was only four years old, nonetheless Alfred followed his three older brothers in the family business and in 1874 at age of 26, the Alfred Meakin Company was formed. The company produced ironstone china and white granite ware, much of which was sold in America through mail order catalogs. Since its ... morebeginnings the company has undergone several changes, including the renaming of the company to Alfred Meakin Ltd. in 1897. Following Alfreds passing in 1904, he was succeeded by his son Alfred James who passed only four years later. The fabled Tea Leaf design, had its beginnings in the 1840s, as English potters began to ship white ironstone ceramic ware to the U.S. decorated with luster bands and/ or simple motifs, made exclusively for the American market. Anthony Shaw is considered to have been a pioneer in the Copper Luster market, from his inception in 1851, that soon led to his windfall. The popularity of and loyalty to the Tea Leaf pattern has been so pronounced, that there is even a modern day web site tealeafclub.com! This Estate piece is absolutely stunning with hand painted details and gorgeous soft spring colors. The date 1895 appears on the back in the same gilt color as the embellishments on the front. Since there is no makers mark, I don't know if it's Limoges, German, Austrian, Hungarian? It looks like the initials ZP or ZB r ZR appear on the front center bottom of the plate. It's certainly a high quality piece, no damage, back age related wear as pictured above. It measures 12 1/4" w by 12 1/2" H. A nice antique(circa 1870-1880s) Staffordshire Meat Platter. The platter is made of Ironstone and features a Blue Transfer design of People in a Landscape setting. The Platter is BIG at 17" x 14" It in very good overall condition with no chips. Cracks, hairlines or repairs. The only thing to note is a small dent in the clay on the front lower left which happened before it was fired in a kiln. There is very minor glaze wear on the back edges. It has indented valleys on one side as is found in ash trays. It is made of ceramic with a matte ivory finish. The flowers are metallic gold and silver. This tray was made by renowned artist Sascha Brastoff in California in the 1960's. The tray is marked and numbered F2 in gold paint. Antique Porcelain Fish Platter - Hand Painted & Signed - Z.S. & Co. Bavaria
Z.S. Co. Also known as Zeh, Scherzer& Co. was founded in 1880. My understanding of the mark on the back of the plate, from people who know far more of these things than I do, is that the green version of the mark, dates the plate between 1880 and 1918. This plate bears the green version of the mark. Additionally, according to Porcelain Marks of the World by Emanuel Poche. Item 505 of that book shows the exact mark that appears on this plate and says, REHAU, Zeh, Scherzer& Co. after 1880/ printed. Generally. When these pieces were hand painted, the artist would sign. This signed piece is signed on the front. Lower right side(my photos are a bit hard to see, but see the photos where the seashell is, the signature is below that) and I can make out"W. Mauss- the last three letters could possibly be"ner" or aek" but ... moreI cannot absolutely tell you those last three letters- need better glasses! And on the back of the piece, the initials"W.M. are hand painted under the Bavaria marking. Cabbage roses plates and little pink flower plates are abundant. This is very hard to find. I have seen only a few listings for fish dinner plates and only once have I ever seen a platter similar to this one- in a very upscale antique shop- also hand painted so not exactly this one. As I would assume each artist does his/her own thing. The rim is done in a gold border and shows only slight wear on one end, otherwise the gold is quite intact. The"under the sea" motif can be seen in the photos. The size is very unusual as well. The platter measures approximately 22 5/8" long by approximately 9 3/4" from top to bottom and stands approximately 1 7/8" from the table top to the rim. There are no chips. No cracks and it appears except for the tiny wearing of the gold on one end of the rim previously mentioned, to have perhaps never been used except for display. Absolutely fabulous piece of porcelain.

This is a beautiful large platter made by Lindner& Co in Bavaria. It is brown transfer ware and depicts Chinese scenes and flowers. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks but has crazing of the glaze on the back and a tiny bit on the front where the light tan color background is. Approx. 11 1/8 inches by just under 9 inches. Marked on the back with a mark with the pattern name and the initials"C.M. For Charles Meigh. There is also an impressed"IMPROVED STONE CHINA" and a partial mark showing pseudo-Chinese characters- all marks typical of the Charles Meigh company. There is also a hand written"2769" over a mark that I can't make out. This company was in business from 1835- 1849, according to Godden. No chips. Cracks, or other damage. Offered here is a lovely transferware small platter or tray. With built-in handles or holds. Based on the Aesthetic Movement design elements I believe this piece to date from the 1880s or so. The service piece measures roughly 8 3/4" by 9" The transfer is black or very dark brown. With tinted areas of pink and yellow, probably done by hand. All-over crazing is typical of Turner pieces, as is the lovely botanical design. Just a really beautiful piece. The color in the photos reads as more white than the piece itself. Which I would describe more as a creamy ivory, or yellowish off-white. A few tiny flecks and small areas of wear, as well as the standard manufacturing flaws. This is a handpainted pin tray designed with pink and white tulips. The tray has reticulated handles. It is in good condition with no chips. Cracks or crazing that I can detect. There are some normal manufacturing flaws that can be seen in the photos and there is some light wear to the gold edging that can be seen in the photos. It is white porcelain with light brown leaves and vines highlighted with small pink and blue flowers with gold trim. There is crazing throughout the dish, which is not unusual be given its age. There are some small bubbles below the glaze and a two brownish discolorations, one on the front and one on the back. The gold trim is slightly worn in a couple of places. There are no cracks or chips. Please look closely at the photos. I tried to capture all of the beauty of this dish as well as the flaws. It measures 5 3/4 inches by 3 1/2 inches. Large Onion Pattern Platter, Possibly Thomas div of Villeroy & Bach
This is a large platter measuring 16 x 11.5 inches. The edges are scalloped. There are remnants of gold leaf on the edges. I believe the platter was made by the Thomas Division of Villeroy and Bach. But I could not find the exact mark listed, the'T' in a shield with a lion. I'm not sure when the piece was made. Since the glaze is in perfect condition and there is no discoloring it is probably post WWII. Anyway it is a lovely and serviceable platter.p
